Has anyone here ever seen this? A man, away at war, writes a letter home to his wife.

I'm so glad you enjoyed!!! This is definitely one of my favorite movies I've done for the channel so far! It was an absolute masterpiece!!! I would watch it again already!
The Shawshank Redemption is one of Jarrett's and my favorite movies ever too!! Another masterpiece!!! I haven't seen any of the Godfathers! I think they're on the list though for Jarrett to show me! And I really want to do the Lord of the rings trilogy!! But I think I might do those on my own! We'll see! I have seen bits and pieces of the first one and I've seen the battle scene from the second, so they wouldn't be 100% first time watches but I've never sat down and actually WATCHED them and understood the story and connected to the characters and stuff. My family went to the third one in theaters but it was a midnight showing (or maybe a 10 o'clock showing that went past midnight I can't remember) and I fell asleep immediately and slept through the whole thing. π«£ (I couldn't do night time movies when I was a kid even, I slept through every single midnight showing I've ever been to.) So TECHNICALLY I saw the third one in theaters but I wasn't awake for any of it. I think that would still count as a first time watch lol!! Anyway, point is I really really want to do those even though I've seen bits and pieces of the first!

So quiet, so concentrated, so solemn... this was a perfectly under verbalized, overly-felt reaction to what is my #6 ranked film of all-time... which is to say... this was exactly the Kelsea reaction I was waiting for. Yes... an absolutely perfect reaction to the extraordinary epic film: 'Saving Private Ryan'.
Ever since my introduction to Jarett (after OB) and the intention to react to 'SPR', - - - THIS WAS THE ONE - - - this was the one I was waiting for. I was so jacked, I could have been somehow disappointed... but I wasn't at all.
As it began, I thought Jarett's obvious love for this wonderful movie might "give too much away," but, it became clear that the enthusiasm was adding even more emotion and context. And by the end, the history, the gravity of the story, the brilliance of Spielberg, and the relevance of the assembled cast was clear (for me, only two notable misses were, Ted Danson and Nathan Fillian).
I never miss a chance to see SPR, but seeing this time through Kelsea's eyes was one-of-a-kind special (just as 'OB' and 'TLOU' were both on this fantastic channel).
Thank you both, for a chance to re-live this extraordinary experience again.
(BTW, what films could possibly top this... I have - The Lord of the Rings Trilogy-#5, Citizen Kane-#4, The Shawshank Redemption-#3, Schindler's List-#2, and The Godfather Part I & II as my #1... so not many!).
