Jo Jo Rabbit - REACTION/COMMENTARY

I was showing this to Jarrett, so it's a reaction for him, commentary for me.

Ya I do expect to be hurt.. lol. Same with Schindler's List. I have had that on the list for a while and I've heard it's incredible but I know it's going to hurt me so bad. A little nervous. But I'll do both.. I may not emotionally survive them but I think they'll be worth it.

Just an added thought for you Kelsea... There seems to be unanimous advocacy for suggesting 'Saving Private Ryan' as a "was movie" (I say it's the best) BUT every one of us suggesting "you react" to this film is doing so, with just a bit of hesitation. We know YOU... and SPR is an authentic representation of WAR... and even distinctly more so... the first 20 minutes depict one of the most horrific real-authentic war actions in the history of the world. Your sensibilities are known by every one of us, and we know this will be tough... it's just that I strongly believe this INCEDIBLE story is worth every bit of the horror. So if/when you do decide to react to SPR, we'll be with you!

I absolutely would LOVE to read that. I am a novice history buff and love that kind of material. I did catch all of the references, I was going to ask if there was a tie into the Anne Frank story as well but figured that was an obvious one once we saw her living in the attic lol. Operation Valkyrie, the Berlin Olympics, and the last brutal days of the Reich are all very pertinent to the plot. I love that the made sure to include the real events in the timeline. I had a ball with this one. It was an absolute emotional rollercoaster. When Captain K pushed JoJo away and spit at him, I about broke. He did what he could. Anyways, I'm working so I'm sorry if the response is half assed, πŸ˜‚ I'm semi distracted. Send me a link to your book when you have a second. I'd love to pick that up.

You got me, Kelsea. This movie is way greater than its parts. I got to the rabbit scene first time around and said, "this isn't my kind of fun", but now... really fantastic. Here we go... nerd-out time! Like Jarrett, I love history. Jarrett, you might enjoy my second book, which is a fiction / fact action-adventure story based around the final days of the Third Reich. It constitutes a treasure hunt, and of course, Nazi loot is the prize. Ever heard of the Amber room? Considered the ninth wonder of the world, it has never been found. Anyway, this era of history is very interesting, and I consider myself well versed. You probably caught the inference of other stories within the main plot, which is of course the retelling of the Anne Frank story, the Jewish girl who hid in a closet during the war. And we hear about Jesse Owens, who humiliated Hitler, and the Valkyrie assignation plot, (which is in my book), and the last days of madness, when Hitler, his wife Ava, and thousands of German citizens and their children, killed themselves in fear of the barbaric Americans, because they were told U.S. soldiers would torture, rape and kill their children. Gobbels fed his wife and five beautiful young daughters' cyanide, to evade capture. So sad. πŸ˜₯ This movie is a retelling of these horrors through a child's eyes and thoughts. It is often childish, often lighthearted, and sometimes brutal. Ten-year-old Jojo's coping mechanism is to invent a hero and allow this apparition to guide him, as would perhaps his lost father. and he clings to reality through the medium. He has been brainwashed and cannot decipher right from wrong. Thank God nurture wins out. They say history is written by the victors. This is not entirely true. History is also written by the best storytellers, those who influence and convince others that their version of reality is reality. This is Jojo's version. His reality. Thankyou Kelsea for challenging me to watch this unique and highly entertaining story. On to the next my friends. I watched Venom with my daughter a few months back. Highly enjoyable, and Tom Hardy (My name is Max) rocks. Cheers mates. BTW, did you catch all the Aussie and New Zealanders? Rebel, who describes herself as a 'bogan' Aussie, Thomasin McKenzie and Taika Waititi, from across the ditch, (NZ) and interestingly, Scarlett is Jewish. (Mother)
