2022-08-14 21:02:21 +0000 UTCMy original comment vanished, but thought it was worth pointing out in particular that the wizard who helped conan was played by Mako, who was Uncle Iroh's voice actor :) (And Thulsa Doom was James Earl Jones - Darth Vader's voice actor). 2022-08-14 20:45:20 +0000 UTCEnjoyed the reaction... this movie was one of the first major starring roles for Arnold Schwarzenegger (at least in which his accent was not as heavy). As a genre, "sword and sorcery" is not taken too seriously especially in the 1980s. A couple of things: Thulsa Doom was at least a dabbler in sorcery which explains both the snake thing and his ability to hypnotize. The woman in the hut after Conan got out of the tomb (or barrow-mound perhaps) was certainly either a sorceress or something else that was not human. I was also waiting for the realization that the things in the background of the cave complex were people being made into food... Overall, this movie was one of the better ones. Other films in this category were lacking compared to this one.
