Full Reaction to Firefly: Episodes 7 & 8

Hello dear patrons,

I am watching 2 episodes instead of 1 because we have finished The Queen's Gambit and because The Witcher had me very excited, but the adaptation differed from my expectations unfortunately (this is a personal opinion on matters of taste, so let's remember it's ok to disagree). I am sure that those who watch it without knowing the books will enjoy it.
Let's focus on Firefly though: the following watch-along are for episodes 7 & 8, which for the moment are my favorites from the series. I've learnt a lot about the characters, especially Jayne.
I hope you enjoy it! Stay safe πŸ’–

That was a beautiful pair of reactions to watch. At the end of it you no longer hate Jayne and with those tears a new Browncoat is born. That's always a pleasure to see! Wonderful sharing that experience with you Duaffy, thank you for sharing it with us!

Two more top quality reactions - was a pleasure to watch these with you. Ep 7: You are 100% right (as usual). It's about faith. I think you're right, the Shepard doesn't really get the message across that well - but then, we've already seen he's not really the normal kind of holy man, there's something more to him. Also, I give him a bit of a pass because he clearly was a bit shocked at River ripping up his bible! River is super smart, but she can't understand what he's trying to get across - about believing in something greater. Jayne is a lot less smart, and he can't understand it either (about the Mudders). But we do see there is more to him than we've seen so far. There is a heart there, and maybe the makings of a good man. Rather than his skills, I'd say this is the real reason Mal keeps him around. He sees what Jayne could be, if given the right environment and time. In the wrong environment, Jayne would become just like Stitch (as we kinda see in Ep 8). I'm kind of reminded about something Alfred says in The Dark Knight - "Sometimes the truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more." The other small bit I really love about this episode is Inara thinking the Magistrate's son is talking about Mal, then when she finds out it's actually Jayne we see her temporarily speechless. Lovely acting from Morena Baccarin. Ep 8 Some fantastic acting by Nathan Fillion in this episode - this episode is a big reason why I love Mal. And this episode is so well written and edited as well. That Kaylee reveal :D The catalyser - Kaylee mentions in passing back in episode 1 (and 2 I think) that if it breaks, they'll be in trouble. An example of the great writing of this show. When Mal says "You all gonna be here when I get back?" Gets me every time. The button that Wash rigged up for Mal to call them all back - Alan Tudyk gave that button to Joss Whedon after the show was cancelled. He told Joss to press that button if he managed to get the show back on the air, and all of the actors would come running back ;_; Oh and FYI - from other people I've seen reacting to this show, this is around the time where they start saying that each new episode is their new favourite ;)
