After all the atrocities Michael has done, this third movie puts an end to everything.
Now, before we get into it: be aware this is Coda. The theatrical version was not available in my country. But on the bright side, this movie was released to substitute the original, so technically it's all good, but my point of view may differ greatly.

If you remember Sonny visiting Lucy Mancini (the woman at the wedding) at her flat in the Bronx, surrounded by his men, that is actually when Vincent was conceived. It was shortly before Sonny's death.

I haven't seen it, so I'm not at liberty to say... though I know they excised the opening scene and replaced it with a scene that occurred later in the theatrical cut, and also removed all the more 'nostalgic' bits where Michael was clearly thinking back to various moments from the first 2 films (and the film flashing back to said moments). But, alas, this cut also takes out Michael's literal death at the very end. 😕 I thought it made a nice juxtaposition to his father's death; while Vito died happily and among family, Michael unceremoniously drops dead while sitting in that chair -- alone and pathetic... only a random dog there to acknowledge it. Also, remember when Sonny was shtooping that random woman in a backroom at Connie's wedding in the first film? That was Vincent being conceived. 😏 Speaking of Connie, I was probably most surprised at how much more involved she was in the family business here after not really being at all involved in the first 2 films.
