Full Reaction to Wandavision S01 E01

Hello everyone!

So this week I started a marathon to watch Wandavision, and on Monday I'll do the same with the other Marvel series, Falcon & Bucky. This way I'll be ready to enjoy Loki with you at the same time ๐Ÿ˜

What can I say for the moment? Despite I started a marathon, I still have 2 more episodes to watch. It was 7 in the morning and I needed some sleep ๐Ÿฅฑ But rest assured it'll be all done before the 9th of June ๐Ÿคฉ

This first episode contains everything you'd not expect. You think of Wanda and Vision, and you think about Marvel movies. You expect a story related to it, and what you get is a sitcom from the '50s. And while the story inside the sitcom is easy to understand, what is confusing is WHY!? Why is Wanda and Vision inside it? Why are there people laughing in the background? And who are those producers in the background watching from their studios everything that is going on? They make it look so mysterious...

I hope you enjoy it! Stay safe! ๐Ÿ’–

Yeah, they took a real chance starting Phase 4 with this - where the real MCU-style action doesn't kick in until the FOURTH episode. I, too, almost bailed on the series after the first two episodes... fortunately curiosity (and a whole lot of faith in the MCU team) won out in the end.

Just in case it wasn't touched on - you ask in the description above why there were people laughing in the background... that's is how sitcoms worked back then, and the 60's and the 70's, and the 80's, etc. It is artificial laughter (either a real studio audience that is prompted to laugh, or applaud, etc or synthetically added in post-production) to, essentially, tell the audience at home where the jokes are. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but that is how dumbed down the content, and more importantly, the expectation for the home audience, was. The scripts would actually include pauses in dialogue for the expected laughter/audience reactions. There have been some great examples of old sitcoms with the laugh tracks removed, but with the dialogue and pauses still in place that show you just how awkward the whole thing is without the artificial laughter.

Ohh, canโ€™t wait to see what you think of this! I was almost out after this episode, because I didnโ€™t actually like it at all, but I was too darn curious as to what the fuck was going on to stop watching.
