I pointed out the emotional effects of Zuko being dressed in white in the previous episode, and look there's more! Being dressed in white once again makes Zuko appear blue, but this time, he doesn't feel like he's drowning in enemy territory. He feels like a part of the water tribe fighting against a red opponent who looks vulnerable in the blue landscape. With all of the red vs blue storytelling in this episode leading up to Zuko and Zhao, I think this choice makes a big difference in the poignancy of that fight scene.

This is one of those episodes where they seemed to fit 44 minutes worth of story into 22 minutes. How did they fit in 2 incredible creatures, and do justice to ALL of their characters: Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Iroh... and also Yue. Yue's father was a wonderfully handled minor character in this episode. I love Princess Yue. She was voiced by the actress Johanna Braddy, who I liked on Quantico.

I'm always impressed by shows that can balance funny and serious, like Buffy, Scrubs etc. This finale was probably the least funny episode of the entire season. Was there even a joke? That monkey spirit maybe? It's completely fine though because all the other stuff is so good, you don't miss the humor. If a children's show can do that, kudos from me.

"You put a fish in a bag, mate..." I love your undying disdain for Zhao XD

I’m loving your watch of this show!

Overall, a pretty good finale. Wish they could have spent a couple more episodes in the North Pole and paced it out a little better but still excellent. Can't wait to see your reactions moving forward. Also, kind of random but I'm just now noticing that Dave Filoni directed most of these episodes. I just think that's really fucking neat. That man has been involved with so many legendary shows it's insane.

I feel like I say this about every finale in this franchise, but GOOOD, that finale is iconic. I love it so much, from the introduction of Zuko's sister to Koh to Aang and the ocean spirit merging ... the only thing I thought was a bit awkward was the thing with Yue. It was a bit anticlimactic :D

I love this episode so much. All the stuff with Yue and Sokka was so sad but poetic. Aang merging with the Ocean Spirit to take vengeance was epic. Zuko taking the tiniest step in character development and finally the introduction of one of my favourite characters ever...
