Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 5x19 “Tough Love” FULL REACTION

Now that you've started season 7, I'm finding myself rewatching some of the earlier reactions to this show, and, on rewatching this one, I just realized something I've been trying to figure out for years every time I see this episode. When Tara says, "I kill mice." I've been trying to see if there was more to that than just random brain-sucked delirium, and I have a theory. People who have been brainsucked by Glory can see or become aware of things others can't. Buffy was turned into a rat in season 2. Tara looked right at her--not Willow, not Anya, but Buffy--and said "I kill mice." It's not the only time she does something like this. In the final ep of this season (you've seen it, so I can say this) Tara looks at Giles and says, "You're a killer." And not only did Giles feel a lot of guilt over his friend's death in his past, but he's the one who kills Ben. Weird, right?

Haha, yeah, a scene with Buffy on a date with Ben, that should have been a thing! It would have been too funny if he was all sweet and kissing her, and suddenly he turns into Glory, and both girls pull apart and Buffy's like what the fuck, and Glory's all flipping out before they realize, wait, we're supposed to be kicking each other's asses. Aw, see what you did Laim? Now want it, and I'm all sad that they didn't do it!

The video stops at 30:30 for me so I hope Liam wasn't too inciteful in his review. Interesting parallel highlighted between Buffy & Ben in this one as both are missing out on things because of relationships with their sisters. It had been Buffy's role as the slayer which prevented her from having the life she wanted. Now it's her role as Dawn's guardian.

I'm having problems too. The episode will play for like ten seconds, then cut off and say there's a problem without saying what the problem is. I've tried downloading it, but once it's about a fifth done, it stops itself. This is hella irritating since I've been looking forward to this reaction for a while.

Tried again all morning and it's the same, 6am even so doubt it's traffic.....drop box just isn't liking it. Now stating the device doesn't support the stream.......means a download later, probs take an hour or so though which sucks 🥺🤒 Why this fav episode.....drop box is horrible x

One of my absolute favorite Season 5 Willow episodes! ❤️ Just gives you an idea of how powerful she can be! Poor Buffy though, one thing after another. Will she ever catch a break?

1. stream also stopped working so i switched from phone to desktop computer and downloaded the file. the file itself works. stream issue is probably just typical new post high traffic. 2. yayy!! real life for me right now is an unfun bundle of responsibility juggling that i will be doomed to flounder in for a while, similar to episode theme poignantly. BUT these posts, ~~Liam watching Buffy S5~~, for some reason are my Absolute Favorite Respite. giddy af about this latest post ٩(^‿^)۶ 3. Willow's eyes turning black reminds me of Amy's mum's eyes turning black in S1E03. She was a powerful witch. Then she was a statue. Did she die when the high school blew up--does anyone know?

I wish Buffy had leaned on Willow more. Willow's pedagogy seems sensible, and it would be good for Buffy to delegate some responsibility. Willow must have had an inkling that she was gonna have to mess someone up today, otherwise she wouldn't have put on that wicca pimp costume. I think Willow and Tara's fight was poor communication, but not miscommunication. Willow and Tara had both kept certain fears and annoyance to themselves and now they all came out at once.

For those having trouble: I had trouble too but fixed it for me! I set up a free dropbox account (it took like 30 seconds to set up) and I just downloaded a copy. It took a few minutes but then worked just fine. I signed up, pulled up the link and it gave me the option to download in the upper right hand corner. Cheers!!

It has always felt pretty fake to me... but this time I paid attention to Willow's headspace going in to that conversation, from her frustrating encounter with Buffy. There was more context there than I noticed in the past. It's very believable that Willow could feel talked down to by both Buffy and Tara. It's also very believable that both Tara and Willow could have some insecurities about their relationship... and feel like the "junior partner" in the relationship. I don't remember ever thinking this before, but now I'm wondering if both Willow and Tara are more competitive than they appear on the surface.

This video keeps cutting out on me at various parts =( it plays fine for me up until about 37 min then it stops working and at the end during closing thoughts it does it again, i can't even make it play when i skip back to where i left off it just crashes again i have to skip past the parts where it's broken

OMG Liam's face during the Willow & Glory scene, that was so me when I first saw this episode, just mouth open, glued to the screen like 'Holy fuck!'. Her entrance, the way she floats into the room and starts reciting the spell with her eyes all black, absolutely jaw dropping the first time you see it.

Okay, so I don't *enjoy* the argument between Tara and Willow seeing as they were my absolute favorite pairing growing up, but it's also written in a way that is definitely understandable. Willow has grown probably more than anybody else has, even just in the span that she's been with Tara. It feels right that Tara would feel almost intimidated by it all considering she's grown up so unsure of her own worth and it also feels right that Willow feels defensive about it all. I don't want to say the argument was a long time coming; I think it was written in in just the right place where it feels organic to, not only Willow and Tara's individual journeys, but their journey as a couple.
