Angel - 2x08 “The Shroud of Rahmon” FULL REACTION

Thanks Richard- Yes, Liam is great. easily my favorite reactor, for Buffy or just in general. It's funny, thinking about what makes a good reactor, really, there isn't a way to grade. it really just depends on if the reactor lines up with you, connects with you and even thinks like you or at least is close and when they don't, you can see their point of view. Plus it HAS to seem genuine for me. There are some, not saying whether or not it is their first time we are seeing, but, they just don't seem as genuine, actual. I have a hard time watching ANY other vampire type shows, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, The Strain or nos4a2. But LOST was the first tv show that made me think, that pulled me in, that actually changed my life. I engaged in my first online family, through a website sponsored by JJ Abrams. It was crazy. The 1st year it was about 300 people, but the most active were about 30, and we basically created an online world where we were family. We wrote fan-fic, we created places to hang out, The writers and actors would pop on to hang out and answer questions or talk about the episode that just aired. This was like 2004, it was crazy and awesome. BUT, besides all of that, the tv show was just epic. As I said, top 3 best pilots ever. Best 1st season of tv I have ever seen. Or at least best written.

Welcome new Patron!! Liam is awesome! I’m hoping one day he will give Xena a shot. I feel like Xena is really an amalgam of the characters of Buffy and Angel in some ways.

ok, saw this answered on youtube- I realize this isn't really possible but it's a shame there isn't a posted list of shows you have already seen Liam- No sense in making a suggestion to react to something that you have already seen. With that said, I would LOVE to see you react to LOST. The first season is the finest 1st season of any television show I have ever seen. The writing is sublime and the Pilot episode is top 3 of the best Pilot episodes I have ever seen. If you haven't seen it, I would be surprised if you didn't love it

sorry, newbie- Where might we post suggestions and are the guidelines regarding such behavior? Thanks!

Decent episode, bit of a comedown after the previous ep but that's okay. I wish they had spent less time doing heist shit and cut at least one scene of Gunn and Angel fighting each other, and instead explored what "madness" means for each of the main characters. It's a missed opportunity for Wesley especially, who is the most paranoid according to the paranoia demon from ep 2. Kate could have revealed some more complexity about her increasingly irrational hatred of Angel, Angel could have had some things to say about Darla, Gunn could have brought up his sister himself instead of Angel doing it. Cordy is the most stable of the group so I'm honestly curious what serious stuff could have manifested from her.

Drinking from Buffy did affect him, we saw him struggle a bit with it in the pilot. And Angel wasn't willing to kill innocent people in China, but he was killing people. They don't explore it in that episode but I could see the bloodlust helping him justify that. I don't think bloodlust is as severe as like doing drugs when you're a drug addict, but it does seem to have some lingering psychological effect. I like your theory about the taste of human blood snapping him out of it though.

I didn't like this episode when it premiered but i liked it more seeing it through your eyes! Good reaction again Liam, Thank you 😁

The framework you were commenting on is called an "in medias res" opening, when it starts at a later point in the story and then jumps back to show what happens. It's an ancient media technique and I agree with you, I really enjoy it, too!

Regardless of Wesley's comment, I'm not sure it's as simple as 'bloodlust'. We saw Angel drink from Buffy just a year and a half ago in Graduation Day 2. He also has the memories of all the drinking Angelus did the year before that. Even more "recently" we saw Angel back in 1900. He wanted to be with Darla so bad he followed her to the other side of the world. But when he got there he wasn't willing to bite an innocent person in order to fit in with the Fang Gang. He only has to bite them and drink, killing isn't required for a vampire to feed. Then Kate shows up at exactly the wrong moment and perhaps forces Angel to decide how far he's willing to go now. Or was it the Shroud clouding his judgment so much that it just seemed like a good idea to bite the blonde, until he tasted the human blood and snapped out of it? Or maybe the Shroud affected his human soul like the Doximall did back in Season One's 'Eternity', allowing the demon to step up and do the dirty work? Or maybe he just made a conscious decision to bite her. Good episode.

Yay! I haven't watched the reaction yet, but I really love this episode. Kind of an underrated, self-contained jewel in the midst of a very arc-y season. And I always like when we're reminded that Angel is a vampire and not just a dude with super powers.
