Once Upon A Time - 3x12 “New York City Serenade” FULL REACTION

Comments

Thank you for a great reaction to one of my favorite episodes. I love, love, love this episode. My absolute favorite scenes are with Emma & Hook in New York. I love their scene at the restaurant when he referred to himself as a dashing rapscallion & scoundrel. I love their scene outside of the jail when he referred to it as barbaric because he was force fed bologna. But, my favorite part during that scene was when he asked her to drink the potion & told her maybe there’s somebody she cares for in her other life she doesn’t remember. And then after she drank it & said “Hook?”, asked “did you miss me”. I was thinking I’d say hell yeah. I didn’t like Walsh at all & hated it that he asked Emma to marry him, so I was relieved Walsh turned out to be a flying monkey & didn’t feel bad for Walsh that Emma said no to his proposal. Mostly, because it meant Hook would now be able to pursue Emma. I also didn’t think Walsh was very attractive & not even a good match for Emma. I also love the scenes in the Enchanted Forest. I love that everyone was working together now & that they referred to it as our castle. I was really excited to see Robin Hood & liked the scene when he & Belle reunited. I especially loved the scene when Robin & Regina met, it was such a cute & sweet scene. One of my most favorite scenes in the EF was when Snow went looking for Regina & found Regina burying her heart. I felt so badly for Regina & the scene between Regina & Snow was so emotional & beautiful. They have clearly come a long way. I also love the scene with David, Hook, & Snow before Hook leaves to go find the Jolly Roger. I loved the part when Snow asked Hook about going back to being a pirate & Hook said I’m always a pirate. Even though it would’ve been nice to see what would’ve happened if he had stayed in the EF, if he did then he wouldn’t have been able to go find Emma. I also loved the end when we find out the villain living in the castle is the Wicked Witch. I love the movie The Wizard of Oz so I was so excited to see Oz was going to be an arc on my favorite show. I can’t wait until you see this story unfold. This arc is phenomenal there’s lots of excitement to come. Overall, I absolutely love this episode & I was glad you loved it. I’m also excited that you’re excited to see the rest of this season. I can’t wait!!!!

Okay, well presumably this answers the question I asked in the comments after The Exorcist: you HAVE seen The Wizard of Oz. Ha! I had forgotten this was next and hadn’t realized this episode would be posted today. Anyway, enthusiastic interest is encouraging. I like that they got things off and running in this first episode back; no long, drawn-out process to get Emma’s memory back. ... I have my own thoughts on this iteration of The WWW, but I am interested to see how you take her. ... The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is very special and there is no finer choice for a new introduction to OUaT at this point.

Yay!!!! I've been waiting so patiently for this episode reaction... I love this episode!!!! Thank you so much! And I really enjoyed your reaction to it. New York City Serenade is another one of my favorite episodes from season three. I love every moment between Emma and Hook! First... it's funny that Emma handcuffed his wrist again like she's done twice before... once back in season two's episode, Tallahassee, up in the giant's castle on the beanstalk, then again in season two's episode, In the Name of the Brother, when she cuffed his wrist to his hospital bed after placing him under arrest for shooting Belle at the town line. I'm sure Hook had to be frustrated upon being cuffed again. However, more than that, he's worried about Emma, Henry, and their family back in Storybrooke. And then she had him arrested, this time by two cops who escort him to jail. Ugh! Now... I absolutely love the scene between them at the restaurant when Hook calls himself a dashing rapscallion and begins to try to convince Emma her family is in danger. I love how desperate he is to get her to remember him and everything throughout this episode. I also really love the scene between them in the end when Killian is trying to tell her what little he knew about the trouble at home while they shared a drink together, just after Emma finally drinks the memory potion. You can see in Hook's eyes and from his expressions how much he cares about Emma, and how hurt he is upon listening to her talk about how he had ripped her away from the fake life that made her so happy. He's sad for her of course, and yet he's also hurt that she didn't appear to miss her old life that was real, or him even though he has thought of her everyday like he promised Emma he would as Pan's curse fell over them. So sad. I love the scene outside of the police station when Hook pleads with her to trust him and drink the memory potion. Again... I love his facial expressions that show how desperate he is to remind Emma of who she is, and how desperate he is to make Emma remember him. And it's hilarious that he tells her he's been in many brigs, but never one so foul where he had been force fed bologna. But most of all, I love that Emma bailed him out of jail so that she could continue to question him about the pictures on Henry's camera. Pictures that reveal her and Henry being in Storybrooke... the unknown land to her where Hook claimed she had been living for the last few years. Next... I love the introduction to the Wicked Witch. She's amazing, so just you wait, Liam! I'm so excited that you're excited for what's to come, especially because of the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz. I was thrilled that Once Upon a Time was bringing one of my all time favorite movies into the storyline. Next... I love seeing Robin Hood return again, as well as seeing him and Regina finally meet. I love Regina's spunk towards him and his Merry Men. I absolutely love Sean Maguire as Robin Hood like I've said before, and I immediately loved the chemistry between Robin and Regina shown throughout this episode. It's was great to see their characters come together at last. :) Now... I also love the moment between Regina and Snow when Snow convinces Regina to keep her heart in her chest where it belongs, so she can feel true happiness, even if it was without Henry. I feel so badly for Regina, as well as Snow too. Both women are so lost without their children, and yet... Snow is being strong for Regina. Like you, I love seeing how Snow gives Regina the strength to keep going, when Regina had always sought to rip out Snow's heart and crush it until now. I really love the scene between Hook, David, and Snow as Hook prepares to separate from them so he can find the Jolly Roger... lost and sad, believing he will never see Emma ever again. It's heartbreaking. A part of me wishes that Snow and Charming had fought harder to convince Hook to stay with them like Snow had done for Regina, but then if they had and Hook did stay with them, then he would have become cursed along with everyone else, and he never would have made it to New York to find Emma. The question is... did he ever find the Jolly Roger? As for Walsh... I thought he was sweet up until he suddenly turned out to be one of the Wicked Witch's flying monkeys. That took me completely by surprise. Your reaction to him being one was priceless and so funny too. :) I had no idea Walsh was a flying monkey. I never suspected it. And as soon as it was revealed he was, I immediately no longer felt so badly for him when Emma told him she was returning home with Hook. What a great twist! In regards to your problem with Walsh turning out to be a flying monkey being the creators' and writers' solution to how Emma might not feel so badly any longer about leaving her life in New York... I understand where you're coming from. However, things in Once Upon a Time are rarely as they seem at first. There's more to come. Henry was sweet with his mother in this episode too. As he always is, but I loved how much he wanted Emma just to be happy. The moments between them were very touching, even when they're playing video games. And I just love how understanding Henry is in whatever choice Emma's made towards Walsh. And lastly... everyone has been returned to Storybrooke with the last year of their memories wiped away due to another curse. What a great idea to have a new mystery with everyone back home in Storybrooke where they belong. And Mary Margaret is pregnant! Fun fact... Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas were really about to have their first child together, so they wrote Ginnifer's pregnancy into Mary Margaret's and David's storyline for the second half of this season. And it's beautiful! Thank you again so much for another wonderful reaction! I can't wait for the next episode to come! Season three continues to be amazing and I'm so happy that you're so excited by this Wicked Witch arc. I am positive you're going to continue to love this season. Enjoy! And I truly hope you continue to get well. Feel better. :)| Sincerely, Heidi
