Edit: added sounds and some fancy blending. Waited a couple of days extra to see if 15.ai would come back online, but naah it didn't.
A tiny wall of text, since someone probably is interested enough to read these.
As you probably know I’ve been using this head rig for about 1,5 years. I kept adding features to it and it all just piled up in a massive clusterfuck of nodes. Half of them didn’t even work anymore but I had to keep them in place or other things would break. I’ve also been having rough time getting it to play along with some of Harmony’s more complex features. So for the first week of January I pretty much just cleaned, fixed and redid most of it.
There’s still much work to be done before I can use it properly, but it’ll be much better and faster. I can already make a pretty fluid 180° head turn, with the character looking up or down, or changing their expression through the rotation. Everything is nicely tied to sliders instead of copy pasting keyframes around.
Properly rigging the manes of different characters for the head turn would be quite a lot of extra work though, so I guess I’ll be mostly limited to just choosing the angles, and then adjusting the manes for it (I don't really need more so why bother).
Alternate version coming soon after…
