For the past 20 years it's been literally impossible for me to go shoe shopping without, at some point, whispering "*ppt! ...new shoes."

i genuinely could never use the phrase "bob's your uncle" ever again without thinking of this episode after watching it, poor maddy...

He wasn't directing episodes in mid S2, but him and Mark Frost were definitely still involved in the show, giving ideas/outines to the writers and approving casting choices and such. Don't forget that the show was actually cancelled around episode 16 because of low ratings and Lynch had to campaign for ABC to give him the chance to make a conclusion. He was more involved in the last 6 episodes, even reprising his role as Gordon Cole, all leading up to taking full control for the finale. In the long run I think things worked out for the best. If it had been renewed for a season 3 then we probably wouldn't have ever gotten Fire Walk With Me, or had enough interest to do The Return years later, which to me was some of Lynch's best work.

When the room service guy patted Cooper on the shoulder and said "I'm so sorry." You said something like, "That's the guy from Cooper's dream." He's not from a dream, when Cooper was shot, he really brought warm milk and hung up the phone, that wasn't a dream. We know because Albert said he questioned him in reference to the shooting and he remembered "nothing out of the ordinary."

Literally wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy to watch this episode and then have to go to sleep. But excellent reaction, really enjoyed seeing this one that I know a lot of us had been waiting for!

I didn't realize this was that episode until the record started skipping and Sarah was crawling down the stairs. It is happening again.

i understand now the things you said on stream the other day about Bob because wtf that final scene is horrifying. excited for next weeks reactions! hopefully we get to see whats on that cassette/tape? thingy they found in Leo's boot.

"Where do we go from here?" Cassie's first question afterwards, pretty much sums up why the murder was never supposed to be solved. Don't get me wrong, the episode is amazing (one of the greatest ever filmed IMO), and the reveal scene is superb-the setup, the acting, the atmosphere they created, but the show was about the emotional relationships of the community-the impact Laura's death had on people, and not just a murder mystery. The instant the network forced Lynch and Frost to do this reveal is when Lynch started losing interest. After this ep, he wouldn't be back in ther chair until the season finale.

What an episode There were a number of times in previous reactions where you seem to be very close to predicting the BOB situation. Looking forward to next week reactions!

Oh man, this episode...One of the most powerful episodes ever put to screen - I'm shocked that this was allowed to air on network TV in the 90s. I have to remind myself to keep breathing from the moment Bob is revealed in the mirror, and watching Maddy struggle and be beaten is always agonising. From pretty much the halfway point, the tension starts to raise and doesn't really stop. There's a general sense of unease, and I think the sound design plays a huge role here - there's an almost constant drone underneath everything. The scenes in the Roadhouse always bring a tear to my eye. The late great Julee Cruise's mesmerising musical performance, and the knowledge. The knowledge that "It is happening again". This episode redefined everything we've seen up to this point, and it's like being stabbed in the heart. Piecing together Laura's recollections of abuse and molestation from an early age and the fact that Leland is Bob's host is genuinely horrifying. And the show doesn't take it easy on us; it makes us sit and watch every brutal step as the cycle repeats itself. This show can be beautiful, but man oh man it also has some of the darkest shit you'll ever watch 💔
