Buffy the Vampire Slayer: 7x14 Full Reaction

I know people get annoyed with Giles in this episode but everyone should keep in mind that everyone he worked with for decades were just murdered. He didn't have the greatest relationship with the council but he was still working with them up until they were all killed. So I feel like for him it's more real than it is for the others.

I'm interested in Buffy saying "why does everyone think I'm STILL in love with Spike?". Is she admitting that she was in love with Spike at some point?

Sometimes stunt workers can’t really act but this recast screams that bringing Nikki back and her son into the story was a new idea for S7

I like how they sprinkle in clues so different audience members can form the Spike hypothesis (Spikepothesis?) at different points. Wood seems to know more than he is letting on, he brings Buffy into the school, has an office over the hell-mouth. Then in this episode he has a secret weapons closet, Buffy mentions he is about a decade older than her making him a child of the 70's, Wood is fighting vampire, Wood reveals he is the child of a slayer who was killed by a vampire, we know a vampire that killed multiple slayers, oh look here is Spike interrupting the date. (Slowly nudging our memories, making us at least a little sus before the final reveal).

The woman who played Nikki Wood in 5x7 Fool Love was a stunt woman that’s why shy didn’t speak any lines for this they have an actress, also I’m glad you like Andrew he’s a funny character and he wants to belong, I’ve seen so many reactors hate him as if he killed Tara ,one reactor in particular who shall remain domi-less

The reveal of who Wood's mother was is so satisfying because you realize how far back the setup for it goes. We were told that Spike had killed two slayers back in his very first episode early in Season 2. We saw the subway fight flashback in Season 5. Seeing her here is like getting the missing piece in a puzzle you hadn't realized was being assembled until now. That's how you tell a long range story that still catches the audience by surprise. Also: Yes, no one's good enough for Clem. 😁

As I recall -- don't quote me here -- the reason they switched actresses for Robin's mother is that the original actress no longer looked young enough to still be the same age. I find that reason a little iffy, since we've had vampires being "unageing" for seven years without being recast. When it comes to Andrew and "redemption", I think the difference between him and everybody else (Willow/Anya/Spike) is that all of them STOPPED being evil. They all made a specific choice to stop (Willow did the magic rehab in England, Spike went on the quest to regain his soul, and Anya quit being a vengeance demon and even offered her own life to undo her last curse). Whereas Andrew never did that until now. THEY (the scoobies) stopped him. They ran into him buying blood and they captured him and kept him tied up and have tried to deprogram him. Up until this moment he has never had the opportunity to commit an evil act and decided not to do it of his own free will. That's why Buffy and the rest all trust each other more than him.

Spike has already hurt the bringers in the previous episode. You're also ignoring Buffy's reasoning for having it removed. It's no more ethical to have Spike chipped than it would be to make it impossible for Angel to defend himself against humans. And it's actually more risky to leave Angel with that ability, since his soul-having depends on the dynamics of a curse. And then there's the fact that, as the viewers, we know the chip was working during "Sleeper," (because it worked when he hit Xander), it just didn't work when the First was controlling him.

Fun fact: The shirt that Anya is cleaning for Buffy in this episode is the same shirt that Dawn accidentally got pizza on in 'Conversations with Dead People' and said "she will think it's blood". Anya does say "it might be pizza" in this episode though. Annoying fact: Robin (Principal Wood) looks at Spike in the rearview mirror while he's driving, but he doesn't realize that Spike is a vampire until he sees Spike with his vampire face. I think the decision to remove or repair the chip entirely depends on if Spike can hurt the bringers without hurting himself or not. If he can, then repairing is correct imo because, as Giles said, "a new chip might restrain him". If he can't though, then removing is correct imo because fighting bringers is really what they need Spike for and it would be worth the risk to have Spike vulnerable to the First to do so (as long as Buffy is there to keep Spike in check should she need to).

i like that dawn and andrew get along, they both have such middle child energy sometimes

Poor Xander, always attractive to demons

Good episode. So many interesting things happening now. I like that Andrew stood up to the First and has taken a step towards showing us that he doesn't want to be the First's pawn anymore. He's also a lot less annoying this season than when he was a part of the trio.

It is a different actress portraying the character now (K.D. Aubert); then it was in Season Five when we saw Spike fight the Slayer in the subway train (April Weeden). Weeden was also the stunt double for Kendra the Vampire Slayer in S2 and Gunn's sister in Angel S1.
