The mystery is not solved yet. Who let the Beast in to Gwen's lair, through the security doors only Gwen could open, drugged Angel's blood, and Cordy's tea, and where were Gwen and Gunn while this mayhem was happening, and who erased Gwen's security tapes. It all points to Gwen, but now maybe it was Angelus? Cordy all in black -- is that something we should pay attention to? Angel normally wears a lot of black, and Gwen wore black too, but you know. I thought there was a bunch of misdirection in this episode, people lying, and the scenes and dialog lying to the audience as well. They actually called out Lorne for his outfit, but was that to distract from some other stuff more important someone said. There were a lot of round-robin exposition scenes where one person says something and the next veers off into another subject real fast. I get that everyone is confused, and the Powers that Be are chiming in as well, but not enough to stop anything, so perhaps destiny must play out as prophesied and so on. "The Answer is Among You" is so cryptic even Fred was annoyed, and that is a lot coming from her. Gunn is really feeling like he is losing his shot at happiness with Fred, and is behaving childishly and pushing her farther away, jealousy looks bad on him. He may never have had a girlfriend before, and so can't deal at all that its over. This could lead to his death, or worse, to him compromising himself (again) for some short-term goal he thinks will solve some immediate problem. I think Lorne has seen and remembers more than he wants to admit, and that is why he was telling Angel to give up on Cordy. Also its not good for Angel to be so attached to one person, hang his hopes on her. He did that before and ended up in Hell, insane, almost got ended for good several times, and lost his soul and let Angelus out and almost destroyed the world. So Lorne, you tell em what's up, your advice has never been wrong so far.

For the darkness "spreading", think of it like an eclipse. When you're under the eclipse the sun is "completely" covered, but other parts of the earth see only a partial -- or no -- eclipse. As this darkness cover gets bigger it will cover more area.

Jack Kehler, who plays Manny, was one of those hey-it's-that-guy actors, the ones you recognize then go to IMDB and realize you've seen him in dozens of other things. Besides this, I remember him best from The Big Lebowski (he was The Dude's landlord. Remember his one-man-show/dance recital?) A whole lot of plot crowded into one episode. They not only brought back Gwen, but brought in a whole new group, the Ra-Tet, then killed them all off by the end of the hour. It feels a little rushed, as if the writers were jamming in a lot of story to get to where they need to be. I'm glad to see you feel the writing is off-kilter this season. It's why a lot of had problems with Season 4.

Skinemax is what us Gen Xers called Cinemax because it would show soft core flix late at night.

Now we're starting to get into the meat of the season, and the best is yet to come. I actually really like that the team loses so much so far this season; it feels like they suffer a defeat at least once an episode, and it helps raise the stakes. Also, it's nice to see Gwen back - she's a fun character who plays off the rest of the cast well. R.I.P. Glenn Quinn, who played Doyle in S1 💜

Gwen Raiden is so much fun; my favourite alternate super-powered version of Electra. There are a lot of interesting things happening its just a bit distracting when ever Cordelia and/or Conner are on screen.

I am so excited for you to continue, awesome reaction!
