Most people love Dark Wesley. I don't think it's even only about the Connor kidnapping situation... Don't forget he was also extremely upset about Fred and Gunn's relationship... AND Fred told him to never come back to the office when she visited him in the hospital... Basically I understand him even though I think he's a little (or a lot) toxic when it comes to Fred and Gunn and maybe he has too much pride, I can totally see him being like "there's nothing for me at Angel investigation anymore" and he's not necessarily not right... the dynamics of the group have changed it's undeniable

2025-06-08 14:07:22 +0000 UTCI think dark Wesley is probably my favourite character in the entire Buffyverse. Partly, though, I think it's because of what he's doing off-screen between episodes. Yes, every time we see him he is bitter and angry and (most importantly) completely uncompromising, but off-screen he is devoting all of his time to the cause of people who hate him. He spent months saving Angel when nobody else could. He gathered the research needed to find Cordelia. And these efforts started literally right after his friends abandoned him: I didn't notice this particularly until this watch through, but last season when Fred was poisoned by those Qu'Ortoth slug thingies and Gunn asked Wes for help, Wes knew that drinking lots of vodka was the cure without consulting his books - why? because he never stopped doing the research, even though nobody wanted his help any more. And yet, also an angry dick. Unrelated: the guy who played the client in this episode (Tom Irwin) was also the dad in My So-Called Life, which is such a great show.

OK, lets see if you can write a comic book episode, with a hot chick for a super team up, a ridiculously overconfident Bond villain, a heist with some "high tech" gimmicks, a magic maguffin, some escapes from certain death, and some throw-away sex scenes.

2025-06-01 03:54:59 +0000 UTCYeah, its a pretty terrible tv/movie trope that you can knock people out like that; it is just convenient for writers but its not at all realistic. If you would be willing to shoot someone but dont want to make that much noise then hitting them very hard in the head would be a good alternative - you dont care if they live or die.

2025-05-31 16:52:54 +0000 UTCPeople can definitely be knocked out from a strong punch especially if they aren't expecting it. There's videos on youtube of that happening. It is very dangerous though. You risk killing or causing brain damage. And if it doesn't kill them or put them in a coma, they probably aren't going to be out that long. Possibly seconds or minutes. Think about when when people hit their head in a car accident. It's the same kind of concussion mechanics going on.

2025-05-31 16:46:50 +0000 UTCI think the purpose of Fred's line that you felt was out of character (along with her using Gunn's vocabulary in the last episode) is to show that she feels insecure in the leadership role she took up and she's trying to change herself to compensate.

2025-05-31 14:51:23 +0000 UTCI love the way you phrased the relationship between Angel and Wesley early in the episode: They can be good now. They CAN be good. But it takes both of them to do that. Re: "Knocking people out with one punch", it doesn't work that way in real life. Punching somebody in the head has a better chance of breaking the bones in your fingers than knocking the other guy out. if you DO hit somebody hard enough to knock them out (Let's say using a tool or weapon), you're going to cause brain damage. So instead of being asleep for an hour and waking up with a headache, they'll have massive trauma and possibly die. Nobody is a fan of the kiss in this episode, but internally it was just a physical reaction from Angel's heart physically beating. That rush of blood actually pumping for the first time in 250 years got his...well, it got his blood pumping. Once he realized what was going on he snapped out of it and we (the fans) don't talk about it again. The scenes with glowy-Cordelia are a deliberate play on Buffy's stay in Heaven when she was dead. When Buffy came back, she talked about how it was like being inside Joy and surrounded by light and she wishes that her friends had never brought her back. Now Cordelia is surrounded by light but she's miserable and desperate for her friends to get her back, but they think they're doing the mature and loving thing by not taking her away from that.

I think that the Angel-Gwen kiss was supposed to be Angel's heartbeat starting up induced excitement in him /(possibly a shot for the promos); its not a particularly strong part of the episode in my opinion. I like Wesley and Lilah together.
