Fine China is one of my fave Lana unreleased songs ever

Melissa Reynolds

I talk to Jesus is one of my favorite songs of hers (fun fact it shares the same producer with Off to the Races). There’s a crisis of faith in this song that I find very relatable. Beyond the lyrics and production, this song is part of a very interesting development cycle for ultraviolence. The album was originally called “Tropico” and at some point it was scrapped and reworked into “Ultraviolence”. There are some remnants of that original ‘Tropico’ album on Ultraviolence (e.g., Black Beauty) but it largely was rewritten with original songs. There are many unreleased songs from this original ‘Tropico” project that I’m sure you’ll listen to in the future. Interestingly, the ‘Tropico’ short film was apparently supposed to be the intro film for this new project, but when they decided to redo the album, they instead made it into a mashup of songs from the Paradise EP. I find the whole Tropico to Ultraviolence transition a very fascinating piece of musical history and I hope one day we get more insight from Lana on how that all went down.

There is a way better version of fine china you should hear

Kirsten

I take it as her saying she’ll die for him/their love like Juliet (and she’s blonde)

Felix Gonzalez

a suicide blonde is a woman who dyes (“dies”) her blonde. it’s an aesthetic kinda like you can tell she’s not a natural blonde. ironic tho considering lana is a natural blonde

can you bless us with something? Froot wise? 🍒🍊🍏🍇

Always a highlight to see Lana music enjoyed... ...and to think I might not have considered giving her a listen.

This is the best playlist so far! Lizzy Grant was indeed serving camp bops—also wish some of that hadn’t been filtered out due to how popular her slower, personal tracks became. And yes shes still technically living in Los Angeles but looks like she’s spending most of her time in the other LA—Louisiana where her husband lives!
