lol Angel doesn't wear a cloak its a duster jacket I thought that was funny that you thought it was.

Curse shmurse. It's a just a little hex. It is funny because the show does kind of make fun of the confusion it has caused with the fans. "The curse isn't even all that clear."

Gung Ho

A very fun episode, a bit of light relief from the Darla-arc (which I love but is also emotionally grueling.) A great episode for Wesley and his romance with Virginia is surprisingly cute. Also on a side note Cordelia's 'lawyer' disguise at the beginning gave me major Elle Woods vibes.

Everyone else: Virginia's the virgin to be sacrificed? Oh no! How terrible! Cass: Virgin sacrifice, okay fine. WHERE'S THE BIRTHDAY CAKE???

Steve Quast

Yeah went to far with the curse being temporarily lifted because of a drug. It was a fun moment but it really didn't make sense.

I find it fascinating how you're so suspicious of The Host, when so far he's never done anything to steer Angel in the wrong direction. He's always been a friendly, helpful kinda guy (...demon). He says his bar is a sanctuary open to everyone, and so far he's backed that up. BTW, in case you missed it, it was Ramone (The bartender/waiter) who told Lanier about the T'ish Magev so he could have him killed and keep Angel stuck up there out of the way. Ramone walks over just as The Host is giving Angel the details, and the fake T'ish Magev later says that all of Ramone's info was correct.

Man the one time there just needed to be cake....

I think it's pertinent to note that Lindsay didn't say they wanted Angelus, just that they want Angel "dark". They're gaslighting and trying to isolate him, and it's already working to some extent; Wolfram & Hart are deliberately antagonising Angel in order to push him over the edge and get him to snap, not necessarily to lose his soul. As for why..? 🀫 I love this episode, it's a good light-hearted romp that always makes me laugh, and your excitement over the birthday was the cherry on top. Always good to get some Wesley focus, and Alexis Denisof is such a master of physical comedy. Very excited for the next few episodes!

I was disappointed when the tish magev turned out to be a fake. He seemed to have a better handle on Angel's situation than anyone, including Angel. I was hoping he'd become a recurring character, Angel's much-needed psychotherapist. I still wish they had never had the episode where the drug brings out Angelus temporarily. It complicates my understanding of just how the curse works. I'm still not sure. Now I want cake. But I can wait. My birthday is next week!

The cake was a lie! (At the birthday party).

I've always liked this episode Wesley pretending to be Angel and being goofy, Wesley pretending to be Angel and actually getting to be a hero, Angel and the fake swami discussing Angel's hair, car, clothing to discuss his character struggle But the best is always Angel being petty; "That is my coat right?", "The curse isnt even all that clear", "Bodyguard to the stars, yeah right. There's no Wyndham-Pryce Agency" Glad you enjoyed the episode and that you got to have some cake.

I believe Swami means a Hindu Religious leader

Babe ... I got you babe. Angel letting his guard down with the Host at the Caritas sanctuary bar was "the real Liam", a man who's heart was aching and tearing him apart. He knows what his time with Darla was like, the things they did, the evil joy, the dirtiness. He killed her to save Buffy, not easy even after 100 years. Now all that is back in question, his whole mission, his identity, his purpose, all of it. His anger is rising, just under the boiling point, remember how angry he was with Darla under the Aquaduct. Passion makes villains of us all?

Got me thinking about Wesley a little bit. I don't believe that he would have ever developed to any real potential as a Watcher in Buffy. Perhaps due to it being a role being thrust upon him instead of a passion he found. Curious to see where his character goes in the future because he has been growing ever since Angelus truth bombed him while under the influence so to speak. And Virginia being an appropriate sacrifice? Uh... Yeah... The father got real lucky as those "impure sacrifices" can go REAL bad (Jennifer's Body for example).
