I’m pretty sure Melanie said in a interview that the rabbit is her pet and it jumped onto the set

Crybaby is very young throughout this whole first album. In terms of the story Melanie is telling, the way I’ve always interpreted it, is that the transition from Tag You’re It/Milk and Cookies into Pacify Her there’s a small piece thats hard to pick up on, unless you’re looking for it. The Wolf character was a wolf to represent a predator (the “Big Bad Wolf” in the eyes of a child/Cry Baby - that’s the thing in Crybaby the album: the metaphors are coded from the eyes of a very young child) who captured Cry Baby for a time, and likely did some pretty horrid things to her. In Pacify Her, we’re seeing Cry Baby hyper-sexualize herself the way the predator/Wolf did as a trauma response to try and get this new, Blue Boy, to like her and be her friend. We’re not supposed to agree with Cry Baby in that song. It’s a very painful song and is the responses to two major traumas (Her mother killing her father and the Wolf sexually assaulting her) clashing together into this moment.

Haven't seen some of these videos for a while so it was a nice little trip down memory lane. Especially watching them in album tracklist order which if I remember right the videos weren't released like that. I think Dollhouse was the first video since the previous EP and then Carousel which I believe blew up due to American Horror Story Freakshow using it during their promo. During Soap, you see the little glimpses of Melanie singing on the TV, that is actually clips of an alternate video she shot on tour if I remember right in a hotel bathroom. After a while, the video was taken down in favour of the Double Feature version after she got funding but the alternate video can still be found on YouTube with some fans still preferring that one to the now official

ABCs of Death - segment: X is for XXL and Goodnight Mommy are the movies you're talking about during Mrs Potato Head

I’m gonna add some Melanie (and her fandom) lore to help you with some questions you’ve had in this video. - there’s not a specific age range explaining where the Crybaby album ends and K through 12 begins but basically Crybaby is the character (also the name of the fandom) and the first album is about the character’s upbringing and first experiences in life, K-12 talks about Crybaby’s experiences at school and Portals is about Crybaby’s death and afterlife. - Imo some events in K-12 overlap with the stories in Crybaby but Melanie portrayed a baby throughout this era to follow the theme and to add the creepy factor. There’s still some debate among fans about the timeline of crybaby’s story but I don’t take both albums as one continuous story but more like K-12 adds more elements to the story around the character that was introduced in the Crybaby album. - there’s a theory among the crybabies (fans), saying that the girl in Dollhouse can represent people from outside of the family and the guy in Mrs. potato head can represent society (always changing its beauty standards) Also the visuals of Melanie with wings in Sippy Cup represent her losing her innocence after seeing her dead father. And the line in Dollhouse “don’t let them see what goes down in the kitchen” allegedly references to the murder scene in Sippy Cup. -Crybaby has superpowers, she first shows it in Pacify her but becomes fully aware of it in Mad Hatter with the black eyes. Even though the superpowers can be taken literally as we can see in the video, they also represent a metaphor to showcase the empaths. The other empaths (the ones who helped her) had black eyes too (the nurse from Crybaby MV and the cashier from Tag, you’re it. And they are seen at the beginning of mad hatter) - when the album came out people didn’t get Melanies vision and basically were criticizing her but she wasn’t sexuallizing children, just like Lana wasn’t romanticizing abuse in Ultraviolence, but haters be hating . - Melanie looks just like that with the half bleached hair and her real tattoos. She’s also obsessed with bunnies, she had one when she was a kid and one day she took the bunny to her friend’s house and left it alone for a couple hours and when they came back the bunny was decapitated in the neighbors backyard so you’re gonna see a lot of bunnies in her MVs Sorry for making the post so long! I hope I don’t come across as rude or anything but English is not my native language 🥲

I cannot begin to express the hold that the tag you’re it/milk and cookies vid had over me in 8th grade like that’s literally the only music video from this album that I’ve seen lol

Lots of "Lolita" type energy in these videos is what I am noticing. The imagery seems to fit the music quite well. Fine artwork though I don't know what to make of Melanie's expression through the eyes in most parts... seems empty unless there is strong feelings to emote. I wonder what that means.
