*IMPORTANT* - Big Patreon Changes Coming
Added 2024-03-18 04:48:13 +0000 UTCHi everyone! Starting May 1st, I will no longer be including show/movie footage in my full reactions — We will be switching to the Watch-along/Timer style which means you will need your own footage. I will be switching mostly to Youtube as my video hosting site, posting unlisted videos and providing you links from there.
You may have picked on up on the fact that I've run into a couple roadblocks recently when it comes to uploading & storing my videos for Patreon exclusives. I'm posting more than ever & the file sizes are naturally double the Youtube edits due to the length of the content. But mostly — thanks to all of the new traffic from you guys since last month (thank you), I've started running into some major bandwidth issues.
After doing my own personal research and speaking with other experienced content creators, I have decided that video hosts like Vimeo and Dropbox are no longer the sites that I want to use to store my content for you; the bandwidth availability is not in line with my content projections and being able to keep in line with common community guidelines is a growing concern for me.
There is also uploading straight to Patreon as an option. They launched their video hosting feature at the end of 2022 and while I do plan to use that feature for some of my content, I also do not want to rely on it entirely. It's a new feature that is still being figured out and I don't know what the storage, bandwidth and overall rules and guidelines will turn out to be in a couple years from now.
I've decided that unlisted Youtube links is what looks like the most sustainable and best long term solution for me. Due to me choosing YouTube, that means we'll be going with the timer/watch-along method for my reactions to avoid getting blocked.
I will be continuing to post the remainder of Buffy (Season 4) and Angel (Season 1) the same way I have been directly through Patreon for the remainder of the respective seasons. When we make the switch over to the new way of filming the full length reactions, I will be shutting down my Vimeo account. My Buffy (Seasons 1-4) reactions will live on solely through the Youtube edited reactions. As for Angel—I am taking the time next week to edit down the first ten reactions so that edited versions can live on through our unlisted links method (because unfortunately I did not save any original footage and this is the best I can do to salvage them). However, for episodes 11-21, I am filming & editing them in the new method alongside the current method so that when we make the switch on May 1st, that backlog will still be available in that way. Side Note: Music fans — my backlog of full album reactions will be here to stay.
When I first started my Patreon, I had wanted to do the watch-along/timer method for my reactions in the first place, which is why my first six episodes of Buffy were done in that style. There was an uproar and I ended up providing the footage because of it, so I imagine there may be a bit of an uproar again. If you've taken the time to read the post and are still upset with my decision, I do apologize, but this is why I wanted to have full transparency and ample warning about the changes ahead in case you don't want to stick around because of them. Of course, I do hope that you do :) Thanks guys!

Sorry - I just joined because I really enjoy seeing the YouTube Buffy reactions and wanted to see your Angel material plus, certainly, watching your reactions to the end of Buffy S6! I don’t think this watch along thing will work for me either so I may cancel. I don’t know how to do it. Must be because I’m over 70!

2025-04-24 18:27:38 +0000 UTCOut of courtesy, as one of the earlier subscribers on here and YT, I just wanted to let you know that I have cancelled my subscription. As stated in my previous comment, it’s purely because this method does not work for me. I have loved your content and enjoyed the ride while it lasted. I just felt you owed an explanation. I was going to hold off, but you have made it clear your set on this direction, which is completely fair and reasonable. If I was here for any of the other content, I might be more tempted to stay and give it another go, but I was just here for Buffy (and then Angel). All the best! I am sure you will continue to see incredible growth on both platforms, considering anyone leaving here will just move back to YT.

2024-04-04 09:48:56 +0000 UTCAll we need is an app that can read the time code and sync your version automatically then everything would be easy. That's can't be a hard app to make as long as the reactor puts the code in the same place every time.

2024-03-25 04:58:02 +0000 UTCThat's fair. I'm not a fan of the watch along style, but I will stick around because I understand the situation, and because your reactions genuinely brighten my day. I imagine it's going to become more and more challenging to make reactions available that have the full episode embedded. It'll already be in the terms of service of every hosting platform that you can't post that kind of thing, but until recently, YouTube was the only service enforcing the rules. I fear the golden age of reaction channels is over. Full reactions are all going to be watch along style before much longer. I think what we need is some tooling that allows react to watch, record, react and most importantly, pause, then embed that information in the video that gets distributed, and then some sort of playback system that takes the reaction footage and the viewer's own copy of the episode, and automatically syncs up the start and pause/resume points. I'm just not sure how possible it is😊

2024-03-23 02:14:50 +0000 UTCFirst of all, I love your vids, Cassie, and secondly, being a reactor is really challenging, so I wanted to acknowledge both of those things! Like a lot of other commenters, I prefer pip, but will settle for watch along if that's the only way! It does become untenable without ways to sync properly though (blurred pip, ideally). The only feedback I wanted to give is that the trouble with reactors not being able to pause is that they tend to then talk over the show and miss lots of important stuff. That's not so important with lesser shows, but the reason we love Buffy so much is that nearly every line spoken, every shot, is important, it matters! And it's not that we care that we're missing stuff- most of us know the show really well anyway-but we do care if you miss stuff! Because that would suck for you and for us! So yeah, just wanted to voice that concern.

2024-03-20 16:09:43 +0000 UTCThis is really a shame, especially since Buffy Season 5 - 7 is where it gets really good and i like to go onto patreon and just put on one of you videos and relax, sounds like a hassle to find a decent version of the episode to sync up with (not even sure how it's supposed to be done efficiently) and it seems a lot of people is of the same mind, it would be really sad to see your reactions disappear since it's the most enjoyable around, and you have some really interesting insights and points. But since the patreon video service exist, and is 2 years old, it should be stable enough to handle the probable reason they put it onto the site in the first place, might we try that first and see how it works, if it is possible to keep up the current format with that?
Leonard Ledung
2024-03-19 21:08:01 +0000 UTCJust wondering, will you be able to have the video blurry? I usually watch on my phone or tablet, so can't watch along. But I don't mind watching with the episode being blurred, but can't watch with just nothing there
Greta mudie
2024-03-19 09:03:37 +0000 UTCWell, that’s a bummer…
hannemanart
2024-03-19 07:19:47 +0000 UTCYes, the PAL version will be slightly sped up because of the way they are converted from NTSC. It messes up the frame rate so everybody moves slightly faster and the audio is pitched a little higher.
Darrell Palmer
2024-03-19 06:03:03 +0000 UTCCan you tell me how to sync your reactions to my episodes. I have all Buffy on DVD but I tried once with another reactor and they continually got out of phase. Is this because I watch in PAL (Australia) and not NTSC? If I can't sort out how to watch I will probably just go back to YouTube.
Steve Quinn
2024-03-19 05:33:21 +0000 UTCI don't have any way to really work out the watch-along type reactions. I guess I could hold my phone in my hand with the episode playing and then have your reactions on my TV but that seems like a tedious and unsatisfactory solution. So, as much as I do love your reactions and have grown to really appreciate you as a reactor, I am probably not going to be able to stay on once you make the switch.
Chris Peterson
2024-03-19 05:06:38 +0000 UTCI did this with the Normies. I subbed a month here and there and when I had time I'd binge a few or skip to better episodes. I ended up stopping after season 5 and haven't gone back. I also found that I'm watching Buffy on Disney + and they use Hulu I think so after every commercial I'd have to pause one and go back and forth micro-pausing and starting each to get them synced up. It was a lot of work and I just got tired of it...
Robin Gibbons
2024-03-19 02:47:01 +0000 UTCThis sooooo much this. Cass is maybe my favorite Buffy reactor so far and I've watched through the series with over a dozen other patreon reactors of Buffy. It's her stopping to try to figure out what's going on or make comments etc. To have to run another copy and pause when she does and restart it, probably a split second off, making the audio out of sync etc would be a nightmare...
Robin Gibbons
2024-03-19 02:35:40 +0000 UTCI'm a little disappointed but I understand and will be staying. Other reactors I watch (like the Gallifrey Gals) use the timer style. I'll miss the pauses but your reaction to 'Anyone But you' did a lot to reassure me.
Ross Nolan
2024-03-19 02:23:45 +0000 UTCTotal transparency on my part; I was mildly surprised that you went to your current route at the beginning of it. From my view Cass, the full reaction method you had always seemed risky from a copyright standpoint but I rode with it. Going back to what seems like the usual reactor content method is no big deal to me especially since I've seen most of what tends to be reacted to... I here for your reactions and I still want to hang out.
Michael Labs
2024-03-18 23:39:12 +0000 UTCI'm excited that you are returning to the watch along format. Hope you work out the kinks in your new process quickly and can get back to experiencing the shows.
The Testimony of Mushroom
2024-03-18 22:14:57 +0000 UTCWhilst I completely understand and respect your decision, as i can only watch on one device it's not possible for me to sync up videos. Therefore, I'm really sorry to say I won't be able to continue on here either. Your commentary is so insightful and I've really enjoyed all your content, so I will definitely be keeping up on YouTube.
ivyboundmoon
2024-03-18 21:24:02 +0000 UTCAhh this is a shame, i've loved your reactions but I too will be leaving. What really brings the element of reaction is you pausing and talking about certain scenes which will just be a nightmare to manage as a watch along. I also mostly watch on my phone. Thank you for the time you've put in with this up to now regardless.
Cambo
2024-03-18 20:31:35 +0000 UTCUnfortunately I will not be staying on for the watch along format. I’ve tried before with other reactors, and as others have mentioned, syncing is always an issue.
Cheryl Coffin
2024-03-18 20:31:14 +0000 UTCLet me start by saying that my position is that these are your videos, your work, your personal content, and therefore only you can decide what is best for you, regardless of what I or others might think, this is indisputable. Having said that, I would like to share with you some thoughts, suggestions, ideas that you might consider before making your final decision. First, you basicly jumped for zero to 100 when you decided to adopt the current format for your videos, something I pointed out at the time. Going for something in the middle, like a small PIP in the corner, perhaps on a black background that takes up about a third of video which you can always then fill in with the show title, or whatever you prefer, would drastically reduce the final file size, something that might help regardless of which host you decide to use. Second. Even putting aside the problems of sync the videos we may have access to with yours, different frame-rates, different versions that may or may not have the “previously on” for example, one problem that cannot be avoided is that it will become impossible on your part to use the pause during your reactions. I have to say that listening to your thoughts and theories, however convoluted and weird they may sound at times, is what make your content yours, if you get me. Third. I certainly don't feel qualified to actually give you technical advises, but I'd like to point you in the direction of another content creator who seems to have solved the problems you are facing. She's been doing this for many years now, reliably releasing multiple videos every week and maintaining access to her entire video library, hundreds at this point, and more important her numbers are really similar to yours. I'm a little reluctant to give her name here but if you're interested I can post it to you, np.
G.Un.
2024-03-18 18:21:24 +0000 UTCUnderstand the logistical challenges, but still bummed at the news.
Spencer Gray
2024-03-18 18:10:46 +0000 UTCI know this must have been a difficult decision to make, but know that you will still have supporters when you transition to watch-alongs in May. 💜 Thank you for all the hard work and love you pour into these videos and always providing insightful reactions.
delaney julia
2024-03-18 17:58:19 +0000 UTCI'm not mad about this or anything, it's your decision fully. But offering up full transparency on this side, too, I don't think I can stay on as a patron. Mostly because of going through this experience with other reactors, honestly. I start off wanting to still watch, but because syncing up shows can be a bit of a pain for me sometimes, I end up just putting it aside to "get to later" and then never bother. I've been through his before and that's how it goes. I'm sorry you're doing this, but you have to do what's right for you. I'll try to keep watching via edited YT vids, though. Good luck.

2024-03-18 17:21:07 +0000 UTCYes, I learned how she does things! Based on what I want to do long term, I decided it’s not the best option for me :)
Cassie
2024-03-18 16:57:55 +0000 UTCAlley Box's last system with Dropbox had no problems with bandwidth whatsoever. ...hm
Gregor
2024-03-18 16:38:55 +0000 UTCIf drop-box freezes when watching you can just download the video file and watch it locally.
Dan
2024-03-18 16:27:08 +0000 UTCI’ll try my best to stick with it. I’ve never done the follow along thing. I’m actually very new to Patreon in general and only follow 2 people. The other uses Dropbox and it freezes up so much that I’m struggling to even watch the content. I’ve always appreciated that your videos were so unproblematic. You are, by far, my favorite reactor. I’m going to be really sad if we don’t get the pausing, but I can understand why the switch needs to be made. Just a week ago, I wouldn’t have been able to make it work, but I got an early bday present and now have the ability to watch along, I guess. I’m not sure how well it’ll work for me, or how I’ll like it, but I’m willing to give it a try. I appreciate the heads up. Do what you have to do for yourself. If it doesn’t work out for me, I’ll still watch on YouTube.
Jillian Foy
2024-03-18 16:24:14 +0000 UTCI don’t plan to monetize the unlisted content on youtube. The backlog is unfortunately going to be gone. I want to apologize for the comment saying I wasn’t open to feedback - I absolutely am (even if the overall main transition decision is set in stone). There have been some suggestions here that give me a lot to think about. I’ll be losing a lot of income due to this transition and further than ever from the possibility of being able to do this full time; it’s definitely not a smart business move when looking short term. And I’ll be spending a lot more time in editing to get the new format as seamless as possible for everyone. But I do hope to keep people along for the Youtube edits at the very least, I’m sorry to see you go :(
Cassie
2024-03-18 16:00:51 +0000 UTCThis makes it pretty inconvenient for mobile users. Love your vids but dunno how long I'll watch that format for.
Robbie Whitesell
2024-03-18 15:57:16 +0000 UTCThank you💜 I’m going to try my best to make it as seamless as possible with this new method.
Cassie
2024-03-18 15:53:46 +0000 UTCSorry too say I'm out too as can't get along with that style of reaction, but if the YouTube edits are continuing as is then I'll definitely be following over there and enjoying those videos. Best of luck with the new format 😊
Da_Bill
2024-03-18 15:33:42 +0000 UTCJust sharing that I’m here to stay. Appreciate the heads up and completely understand you wanting to respect the copyright laws and protect yourself. The people who are upset are loud but please know there is a good amount who understand and will stick around.
Sara Something
2024-03-18 15:27:14 +0000 UTCShe still only has access to the streaming (Hulu) version, that’s why she uses that version in her reactions haha, but yeah wild differences in the various versions 😭
CoreyIsSus
2024-03-18 14:30:22 +0000 UTCSince you're not providing the footage anyway, can you please watch the NON HD version of Buffy from now on? :D
G. Smith
2024-03-18 14:29:03 +0000 UTCI really like the ongoing subtitles idea!
Cassie
2024-03-18 14:24:15 +0000 UTCYep! Big, scary decision that hasn’t been taken lightly and I’m aware that I’m unfortunately going to lose a lot of people in this transition.
Cassie
2024-03-18 14:16:08 +0000 UTCYes - to clarify. I’ll be utilizing youtube unlisted links & posting them on Patreon. So it is still through Patreon that the full reactions will be available perks.
Cassie
2024-03-18 14:07:07 +0000 UTCoh this is so sad 😞 you are one the best reactors i’ve ever watched and the full length footage reactions have been INCREDIBLE. definitely worth my money. and i have been watching Angel for the very first time with you! but sadly i cannot continue without the footage- i literally watch these on my phone as i’m working in my office, so it would be impossible. i will continue to support you on youtube.
Belle GC
2024-03-18 13:33:35 +0000 UTCI'll add to the chorus. I understand why you want to transition, and I really appreciate you giving ample heads up about it. Unfortunately I usually watch your reactions on my phone at the gym (makes the treadmill minutes fly by) or on my phone while cooking. So doing a watch along isn't compatible with how I watch reactions, so I'll be leaving then too.
Willa Smith
2024-03-18 13:29:23 +0000 UTCthere's no other way? :(
Carol Gonçalves
2024-03-18 13:12:42 +0000 UTCedit: i'd initially written something somewhat supportive, but once the moderator/editor/whatever mouthed off, i decided to dead that - along with the youtube subscription since that was the only remaining thing. another example of merging patreon and youtube for monetization, which is what this is - the copyright issue is the usual excuse being used, as it has many times before - unlisted content is still monetized, IE. the backlog racks up the earnings, and without the pesky storage fees. it is what it is, but that dont mean you all gotta pay for it.
m.,
2024-03-18 12:55:51 +0000 UTCAbsolutely do what makes you feel comfortable. Ultimately, that’s the most important thing. Sadly, I’ll have to unsubscribe as watchalongs just aren’t practical for me. I also think your pausing and rewinding is one of your biggest strengths as a reactor. I’ll make sure to enjoy the remaining content that’s still to come in the original format and definitely follow along on YouTube. Thanks for being so upfront about this and giving plenty of notice.
Shandler
2024-03-18 12:39:03 +0000 UTCVidyard is another option I've seen work for reactors or even Google Drive. And of course as others have mentioned you could put a filter over the video and still keep the audio. I tend to not follow reactors who don't at least do that because following along can be troublesome with sync issues and then of course the reactor can never pause to talk about anything. Do what's best for you though!
Steveo
2024-03-18 12:22:13 +0000 UTCI’m sad….yet understand. I can’t do the new way, so I’ll have to unsubscribe too. You are my favorite reactor, ever. ☹️
Andrea Frank
2024-03-18 12:16:03 +0000 UTCI absolutely adore the frequent pause and chats. Probably my favorite part of your reactions. I'm afraid that will be gone now.
Captain Hammer
2024-03-18 11:47:18 +0000 UTCCassie only has access to the streaming (Hulu) version for Buffy/Angel, but has an overall plan for lead-in for syncing (:
CoreyIsSus
2024-03-18 11:27:06 +0000 UTCI really dislike the watchalong style. I watch another reactor who posts full reactions and just puts like a faded image over the video, but its still watchable - is that an option? I will stay subbed for now and at least give it a go with watchalong style since I enjoy your reactions.
x_Rhi_x
2024-03-18 11:18:25 +0000 UTCIt looks like we were spoiled with the inclusion of footage. (I'm not complaining.) Now I am thinking about possible ways of mitigating the pains of a watch-along format. For me, either including a blurred video or including subtitles looks like an good idea. I personally would prefer subtitles. Either of these could make re-synchronization easier if it becomes necessary for any reason.
al mall
2024-03-18 10:18:32 +0000 UTCCan i just check i have things right, are you providing your full length reactions on Patreon via a youtube link, I have my own copies of Buffy so it doesn't really bother me, but just to check if I still want to watch your full length reactions of Buffy do i continue subscribing to Patreon, sorry for being thick.
David Allan
2024-03-18 10:09:41 +0000 UTCGirl, you know I support you in whatever way you need to do things, and will continue to support you 💜
Melissa Reynolds
2024-03-18 10:04:48 +0000 UTCI’m glad that works for you but in general keeping the original audio in seems like the worst option because it's almost impossible to sync with an external original so precisely that there won’t be an echo.
Nightowl
2024-03-18 10:00:38 +0000 UTCWell it hasn't happened for other Buffy reactors, but I don't know Cass's circumstances or what issues she in particular is having.
Dan
2024-03-18 09:48:29 +0000 UTCWell, I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed :) I guess I don't really have any points that other people haven't already made. I really like the pausing style, so it's a shame that's going away (even before May 1st, it seems). I have access to multiple copies of Buffy (DVD and streaming) but watchalong never really seems to work for me. I like to watch on a single device while doing other things around the house, and I always seem to end up with syncing issues (things like the length of the pauses between scenes where there would have been an ad break, intro differences). It's shame that streaming platforms haven't added some sort of support for synced reactions (yet). Thanks for the ample advance notice. The timing is kinda a shame since I'm a big fan of early S5, but that's just me, so I'll see you over on the public/highlight Youtube videos from May.
Dan
2024-03-18 09:42:33 +0000 UTCBeyond the difficulty of lining up the times, I also primarily watch it on my phone or AirPlay from my phone to the TV. Not being able to do this is another big issue for me, unfortunately.
Jack Stankovic
2024-03-18 09:09:34 +0000 UTCWhile I completely respect your decision, I don’t know whether I will be able to continue subscribing. I found it very difficult at the beginning when this was your original method with the reactions. I’m not sure whether it’s the fact that I am in a different country and have a different version of these shows, or if it comes down to the steaming platform. I also do know that there is the original and the remastered version, and I am guessing we both have different ones. Whether that comes down to the different streaming platforms or my being in Australia, I am unsure. All I know is 0:01:00 (1 min) for you was not 0:01:00 for me (as an example), and it would take a great amount of fiddling and trial and error to line it up each time. I’d never get it perfect, but I’d just settle for close enough. It’ll be disappointing because I have been following you since the start, but I completely understand and will respect your decision, whatever it may be. I just wanted to air my thoughts, so you know why some of us might be unsubscribing when this comes into play in the future. Additionally, I wanted to make it clear that it is absolutely nothing to do with you or your content - on the contrary, I am a big fan and have been since day 1!
Jack Stankovic
2024-03-18 09:03:16 +0000 UTCPlease consider using official PAL DVDs for Buffy and Angel to avoid sync issue. This is the most correct source anyway. Sadly, otherwise many of us will be unable to follow..
Eldarien
2024-03-18 08:44:54 +0000 UTCJust wanted to say that the only creators I follow who also do watchalongs are the Normies, and the reason I can still follow along is because they blur the screen and still keep the audio. Because I have seen the show so many times, I don't actually need to pull up another copy if I hear the audio and can more or less see what is happening. Now maybe the blurring isn't a possibility for YouTube but another channel that I follow (Buffy the Gilmore slayer) do monthly rewatches that they post unlisted on YouTube where you can hear the audio, so that might be possible? I sincerly hope there will be a way that makes it accessible for most people, because I know a lot of people (me included) really love your videos and it would be a shame to see so many people leave.. but you have to do what you have to do, of course <3
Tara.
2024-03-18 08:32:55 +0000 UTCI want to second this comment. I understand that if you have to host them on YouTube, there is no other way to go around it, but there are a lot of content creators out there who use other sites. And I would also be really sad not to have your backlog available any more, cause I love rewatching reactions from time to time.
Tara.
2024-03-18 08:23:29 +0000 UTCI'm curious to find out how your reactions will turn out without the ability to pause the content, but I understand this had to happen at some point :)
Arronax06
2024-03-18 08:23:10 +0000 UTCSorry to hear that. All good things come to an end. Getting to complicated for me. For me, you were the last good Buffyverse reactor on Patreon.
Gregor
2024-03-18 08:03:58 +0000 UTCDo what you have to do! I am a HUGE Buffy fan, however, I enjoy watching your reactions. I’m here to watch YOUR reaction not the actual show since I’ve seen it, own it and pretty much have it memorized! 😅
Mayra Martinez
2024-03-18 07:37:25 +0000 UTCWhat a shame. I love your reactions and right now they are so easy to watch on my phone at the gym, doing chores etc. I do have the episodes on Amazon, but it just isn't going to be practical for me to open my laptop to watch every time. 🙁
Greenbeans
2024-03-18 07:27:19 +0000 UTCYour ability to pause is one of your strengths. Your freedom to just pause and consider what you just saw and share thoughts with us about it adds so much to the reaction. I don’t think you’ve fully considered what you are going to lose.
Darrell Palmer
2024-03-18 07:03:22 +0000 UTCDo what you gotta do Cass, we still love you 💚
ThePursuitOfHappiness
2024-03-18 06:58:13 +0000 UTCI understand you frustration, but you don't have to be rude about it.
Chloe A.
2024-03-18 06:57:02 +0000 UTCMost of the reactors I watch do watch-along style for full reactions, especially the bigger channels, so try not to worry too much about this. People might leave because of this, but others will still show up. Your channel is amazing and you always have such great and thoughtful commentary. Hope you don’t stress too much about this. It’ll work out in the long run.

2024-03-18 06:55:32 +0000 UTCNo "uproar" from me, I've simply cancelled my membership immediately. I was here for the Buffyverse only and watch alongs suck. It is as simple as that.

2024-03-18 06:25:27 +0000 UTCI understand but you have to know a good amount of people will probably unsubscribe from you. Not everybody has a Hulu/Disney+ subscription to go with it or can watch 2 things at the same time. I also find pirating sites way too sketchy so…

2024-03-18 06:21:23 +0000 UTCYeah this is a shame... It's great fun watching you as a reactor but watch along is not for me at all. I've tried, it's a nightmare for me. I watch mainly whilst I'm working, on my phone. I can't set up a second screen - just not an option. Add in issues like video speed issues, latency, it's just such a poor experience. Not being able to stop and comment - huge negative. No doubt I'll watch on YouTube - but watch along full just not for me sorry!

2024-03-18 06:12:42 +0000 UTCThat’s disappointing. Like many others, I have quit other reactors because before because of the watch along style. We would lose such a lot of the Cass experience without the pausing to comment (or have the massive issue of trying to work the pauses in :-/) I’ll give it a go but not optimistic

2024-03-18 06:11:24 +0000 UTChahah well typically it means you have 2 videos open at once on your computer or something, 1 being the episode/movie and 1 being the reaction, and you play them side to side or at the same time. (Other ppl have more fancy ways to overlay with other software but side-by-side the “typical” way.) Most big YT/patreon channels have to switch to this format at a certain size due to these similar issues with bandwidth and legality of content, so some viewers have experience with these methods from those other big channels I’m assuming

2024-03-18 06:06:50 +0000 UTChow do most people in the comments who know how to do watchalongs and even know multiple ways of doing it ? lmao everyones like "do it this way" "do it that way" and im just like... help lol

2024-03-18 06:00:23 +0000 UTCCan I make one kind of weird request? I think you did this before, and it might already be part of your plan, but can you leave an episode-shaped hole in the videos so we can make our own PIP versions? I did that with your first six Buffy reactions and it worked out great. (Plus, it gives me a target and I can easily align both video AND audio when the video flashes up for a few seconds :)

2024-03-18 05:51:56 +0000 UTCI joined your Patreon less than two weeks ago, since I've been sold through Youtube and wanted the full reaction experience. Unfortunately, like others have said, I'm not sure it'd be worth it for me. I have the DVD sets of both Buffy and Angel but no DVD player at the moment and the watch along format wouldn't be convenient even if I did even via other options. I understand that that's what you gotta do, but I urge you to do what you can to continue the way you've been doing it. Other reactors do just fine. Please give it another shot, I really don't wanna unsubscribe.

2024-03-18 05:37:33 +0000 UTCI actually prefer the watch-along format because I can control picture size and volume settings separately. But please consider having at least a heavily blurred version of the original video (without audio) on your stream. That would make syncing a lot easier than just a time code, which depending on the source might differ from the viewer’s version. Losing your old reactions will suck though for new Patrons. You might want to keep them around at least for a little while and make an announcement on YouTube that there will be a time window for catching up before the videos are gone.

2024-03-18 05:35:14 +0000 UTCYou follow(ed) some of the reactors in the Buffyverse that I do; I recognize your user name because of the Eddings connection! I'm in the same boat. I've had to leave Patreon creators because I have *so* many problems trying to do watch-along. There are several creators I checked out in Patreon over the last few years, found out they were doing only watch-along, and opted not to subscribe because of that. If I'm paying money to a reactor, I need to be able to actually watch what they're reacting to. Oh, well. I'm going to miss Cass, too. I'm going to try on the first episode at least, but if I have the issues I expect I'll have, I'll just have to un-subscribe at that point. I love Season 5, too, darn it!

2024-03-18 05:34:18 +0000 UTCYouTube will still have the usual edited content, even if you’re unable to support on here directly ❤️
CoreyIsSus
2024-03-18 05:32:19 +0000 UTCObviously you do you. Unfortunately my internet isn't equipped to stream two different content at the same time and simultaneously watching two browser tabs on a laptop is just too inconvenient. Not to mention we will lose the best of your reactions: pausing, guessing and explaining. I guess no more Cass reactions for me after April. :(

2024-03-18 05:28:11 +0000 UTCSad news. I really like that you pause to comment and even rewind which you won't be able to do with the watch-along style of reaction videos. Please before you abandon the full PIP videos try to contact some reactors that are using it and find out how and where they host their videos. Also, it will be such a big loss for all your previous full reactions to disappear. I hope you can somehow save them and keep them available for your Patreon patrons.

2024-03-18 05:26:48 +0000 UTCI'm so sorry this has become a problem as I won't be able to do the watchalong 😔 I only have my phone, I don't even have a TV 🤣 (by choice) so unless there's a way to get the episode + your reaction on my phone at the same time...😬 I've had to stop other patreons because of this but I understand why you need to do it. I'll be sad to leave though as I love your reactions and you're nearly at my favourite Buffy season. 😍

2024-03-18 05:26:31 +0000 UTCYup she already has a plan for the lead-ins to make sure everyone is synced (:

2024-03-18 05:25:05 +0000 UTCI have only recently joined your patreon after being a YouTube subscriber for a while . I hate the watch-along format so i guess i’ll be going back to YouTube . I’m only here for the Buffyverse and not interested in anything else .

2024-03-18 05:18:14 +0000 UTCThere are various versions of Buffy out there. There is the Hulu version. There is a subtitled version that is easily downloadable. There is also the Dailymotion version which is also downloadable but runs at a slightly faster frame rate than others. There is also an unsubtitled downloadable version out there somewhere. Each of these have sightly different ad break times as well. Having the reaction play unmasked for a few seconds after pauses and ad breaks is very helpful as well as still being copyright friendly. If you do use the Hulu version remember that many people, like me, can't afford ad-free so resyncing is mandatory.

2024-03-18 05:14:09 +0000 UTCI love how you've been doing it so the change will suck. However it is the way most content creators do it now so whatever.
Stephen Knueppel
2024-03-18 05:10:09 +0000 UTCThis is completely understandable. I like the way you pause and talk before watching more. It will be hard to synch with that style but hopefully it will be fine. Maybe give us a couple second countdown before pausing and starting.
Dave Hampton
2024-03-18 05:08:27 +0000 UTCYou absolutely have to do what is best for you. And while I am one of the ones who hates change of all kinds, I will do my best to adapt for you. :) It's a lot easier than what I'm going through at work.

2024-03-18 05:02:15 +0000 UTCNoooooooo!!! Please don't sellout like the lazy reactors. This is a problem for multiple reasons. First, you're charging us money to do your job. We have to rent, buy, or download whatever you're reacting to and then sync it up with you. Second, this means you can't pause or rewind the video at all. You just have to watch it all the way through. Also, this is just stupid. There are many ways you can go about getting your reactions on here. Please reconsider this. This is not a good change. This makes Early Access and Full Reactions pointless on Patreon because we're now paying you and then doing your editing job. All while you have to "ONE TAKE" the entire movie or TV show. Please don't become like so many lazy sellout reactors. Please, keep the full reactions the same and not go with the Watch-Alongs. Please.

2024-03-18 05:00:17 +0000 UTCI understand why you're switching to watch-along, and I'm not angry, but I probably won't be able to continue with you on Patreon once it switches. I live in a "dead zone" with sometimes dodgy Internet, and streaming two separate browsers at the same time is problematic and often impossible, with frequent syncing errors and occasonal freezing and/or buffering. 😥 That is my issue, not yours, but I wanted to at least explain why I may not continue on in Patreon. I'll give it a chance to see if it works, but I'm not optimistic.

2024-03-18 04:59:21 +0000 UTCLooking forward to this new chapter in your reactions! This aligns with what most of the big creators I watch already do, welcome to the big leagues 😎💜
