Considering the creative re-use of tropes, I think the first use of the one where the whole wedding party breaks out in the same familiar pop song was in "My Best Friend's Wedding" (1997), where they all sing I Say A Little Prayer. The connection/inside joke: Dermot Mulroney, the father of the bride here, was the young bridegroom in that movie.

I enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would! It was fun and sweet. Also love to see Este Haim doing the music score!

Well this was a very pleasant surprise! I'm a sucker for a good romcom and I love this movie and it is fantastic to get a full reaction to it! So glad you enjoyed it! Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are just terrific, the supporting cast is great, I love the soundtrack and Australia looks marvellous. It has a late 90's/early 2000s nostalgia feel to it that really reminds me of one of my favourite films from when I was a teenager '10 Things I Hate About You' which was also based on a Shakespearean play.
I also really liked - and you picked up on it too - that the exes are not villainised, they are perfectly fine people who just happen to not be right for our leads.
