Hii Cass 💝 Loved your reaction to this album ☀️ I specifically jumped onto your patreon because this album was so special to me I was waiting for you to make a reaction to this and I just wanted to say.. I specifically watched this for your reaction to Cherry Blossom and thought it was such a coincidence that you picked Cherry Blossom as your song of choice and I just wanted to clear up that the song itself is about Lana either losing a baby/miscarriage which is symbolised in many of the lines e.g “Little ghost, tall tan, like milk and honey” - “I push you high, Angelina on your sycamore tree” … Angelina and Clementine are names that Lana would want for a baby if she were to have one and this song makes me sad because of personal experiences that I’ve been though. Also, it’s interesting because Cherry Blossom’s only bloom for a very short period and Sycamore tree’s are trees that live for very very long times and so that oxymoron tells us that although the Blossom’s on the tree only appear for a short time the Tree will be there for a lifetime. 😚🫶🎀

Eeeeh I knew you’d like this album!!! 🥰

Also interesting to note that Angelina means little Angel 😭

I think Cherry Blossom is about the people she’s loved and lost in her life. Cherry blossoms are beautiful and heavily tied with love, but they’re very temporary and don’t last for very long. Sycamores are associated with strength and longevity. I like to think that the cherry blossoms are temporary but beautiful experiences on the sycamore tree that is her life. As for the ghosts - the first man (tall, tanned like milk and honey) could be a boyfriend that she lost when she was a teenager (referenced in Born to Die, Dark Paradise and more). The second, the little girl -perhaps who she would have called Angelina - is speculated to be a pregnancy that Lana lost. For both little ghosts, she is imagining them in her life - what they can’t tell no one they can tell her, because she’s the only one holding onto them and giving them life through her dreams But the beauty of Lana is that it could mean a million things! >:)

Cherry blossom is either about a future/fictional child of Lana’s, or a stillborn/miscarried one

Money for Only

your reaction was EVERYTHING, blue bannisters is my fav album and I love how you never miss the hidden gems in her lyrics

Alexandra

Cherry blossom feels so personal to me I thyink it's about a future chyild of hers (hence the mommy is here) that she would name Angelina

Some random thoughts: I forgot just how much I love some of these songs. Like they’ll be on in the background, but I don’t always just sit and pay attention to them and appreciate their beauty. Beautiful is probably in my top 10 of Lana songs. I love the way the piano intro kind of sounds like rain is hitting the keys and she made music out of it. I don’t know if that makes sense. It’s just the feeling I’ve always had when i hear it. I’m violets for roses, I feel like that sentiment is both literal and metaphorical. Like yes he probably got her roses instead of the violets that she loves. But it can also be like he tried to take her by making her less wild, since violets are wildflowers and roses are cultivated and grown with a lot of precision and they’re also more expensive and extravagant. Roses are also a very stereotypical symbol of love, but for her it’s the violets, because the person you love should know your preferences. Also, I’ve always felt like the poem “roses are red, violets are blue” ties into the meaning as well. Lana has always connected with the color blue and the feelings associated with it. She sometimes even calls blue happiness, which ties back into the previous song Beautiful, where she makes happiness out of her sadness. So he was essentially trying to take away who she is and make her this vibrant (red) person when she just wants to be simple (like a wildflower). Yes! We love Dealer! I wish Lana would go all out like that more. She’s only really done that once or twice in some unreleased music. I’m sure I had more thoughts but at a certain point it just started vibing out with the songs and forgot to remember things. Lana has this way of hypnotizing you, especially with her softer songs. I’m very curious to know what you’re going to think of Ocean Blvd. It’s probably her most personal album yet.

In 2020 she posted something on instagram titled ‘question for the culture’ where she basically said that Doja, Ariana, Camila Cabello, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kehlani and Cardi B have all been getting praise and #1 songs while talking about being sexy, sex, cheating, etc… and she just wanted to continue writing about vulnerable love, imperfect relationships and all that without people saying she’s glamorizing abuse. And later in the post she says there needs to be a place in feminism for a woman who looks and acts like her. People felt like the letter was kind of racially charged since she mentioned mostly women of color, and woc have historically been looked down upon and critisized for the things she mentions them now getting praise for. I personally think saying there needs to be a place for her in feminism is a little ridiculous because she’s a conventionally attractive white woman, she’ll be finding her place in feminism a lot easier than most other people. She also went pretty viral for wearing mesh masks, but I don’t know if she was seen wearing those before or after this album

It's interesting you said that you are not very familiar with her family, her childhood and her past in general because her next album is actually all about that, her trauma, alcoholism, boarding school, suicide and death in her family, the toxic relationship between her and her mom Kintsugi and Fingertips are one of the best if not the best written songs, can't wait for Ocean Blvd reaction 😊

Patrick

Ocean Blvd is coming get ready 😍😭😭

Living Legend was originally written and recorded around 2013 and is an ode to one of Lana’s long-time friend and mentor, Jane Powers.

Sweet Carolina was written for Lana's sister's (Caroline) child - Phoenix :) Lana often mentions Caroline in her songs calling her Chuck/Chucky, so the whole song is for her little nice that was born in 2021, that's what she refers to in Blue Banisters when she sings "there's a baby on the way and now my blue banisters are green and grey". There's a picture of Lana and Chuck on the back of BB cover where they are making cake together and Chuck is pregnant there, it's also included in the music video for BB, that's the story behind it, it's very cute 🩷

Patrick

Also, I’ve waited so long for your reaction to Dealer and it did not disappoint 😂😂

cass

I don’t think Cherry Blossom is about a man but people speculate that Lana wrote it for a future child or maybe her past self🤷‍♀️ And Sweet Carolina was written for Lana’s sister Chuck (Caroline).

cass

bro you need to react to mitski if you appreciate lyrics. She will blow you mind.
