Great reaction, been waiting for this one. All I will say is that Faith is one of the most complex, layered and brilliantly written characters ever on television. Buckle up.

All the ways authority can be abused, blunt, clueless, and misguided are on display in this episode. Each "authority figure" has their authority challenged and partially destroyed by Faith and Buffy. The police, Giles, the demon Balthazar, The Mayor, all try to exert authority over the slayers, and they all get wrecked doing it.
"Who's In Charge Here?" is basically in all these guys throats about to come out, and the Slayers' answer is "Not You!"
Wesley comes off as completely green, but suddenly puffed up with some authority -- but hey the Watcher's Council Sucks, as we know, and Buffy is not about to knuckle under there. His ultimate cowardice is cringe worthy and not at all appealing. At this point it does not look like he brings much to the table other than being a gent in distress character needing saving.
Faith made an honest mistake and I am sure there is a way out, but I don't know how Buffy is going to take it, or How Giles and Wesley are going to freak out about it.
Mr. Trick was in charge of pitting the Slayers against Balthazar and trying to get them to eliminate each other, but where was he? It was implied that he was spying on the Slayers and stole the swords from the scene in the beginning, but when the mayor's assistant was in the alley with the vamp minions of Balthazar, Mr Trick was with the Mayor at his ceremony.
The assistant and the new watcher Wesley seem paired as timid secondaries to authority types, not ready for fighting on the level going on. Buffy is at least trying to keep Joyce and Willow out of the violence, but it ends up cutting them out of her emotional life.
Buffy seemed not too upset about the death of Gwendolyn Post. She cut off her arm, causing the lighting to come down and kill her, but it was a death in battle against her and she was protecting Angel and Faith and herself. She also lured the assassins into killing each other at homecoming. I think she locked some kids in a club with Spike and Dru last season as well. But she seemed genuinely shocked about the police in the squad car being hurt.
This is the second episode in a row where the police have shown up, they know who Buffy is, next time they might just start shooting first. Also the second episode in a row where a local store is smash & grabbed, but this time it was Buffy and Faith doing it.
Buffy and the gang could be having some real police trouble coming, especially with the mayor wanting her dead or at least out of the way. Mr Trick probably wants payback for her spoiling all his plans as well.
The death of the mayors assistant was in battle as well, but if you watch it you see them getting attacked several times, then Buffy kicking him over to Faith and she staked him in the same move they staked a vamp seconds before.
So it was an oops, a bad one, and he was on the bad side as well. But why was he there at the battle in the alley with the vamp army?
I noticed Wesely did not recognize Angel, nor that he was a vampire. The Watchers council thinks he is dead, and Giles did not tell them he was back.
Did Wesley see Angel vamp out at at warehouse in the fight or next to Buffy as the demon gave his last dying words?
