It's Dragon Ball Dissection Time!

Okay, it's time for a big one, my lovelies. Dragon Ball GT brings its first recurring story idea to a head, untangling the bizarre, extremely uncomfortable relationship between a girl and the robot she absolutely, positively hates. But is it worth untangling? I mean, is it worth it for them? I spend half an hour untangling it, but what do you expect? Check out this deepest of deep dives a week early and ad free. Thank you so, so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy!

Well, let me clear. I don't fault Trunks for considering the idea of replacing her with someone more capable. It just doesn't make a lot of sense that what changes his mind is not the time she saved their lives but an adventure where she was not only useless but actively endangered herself.

Lance Rumowicz

Ah yeah, you are right. Been a while since I watched that episode. Still though in defense of Trunks it may not have been anything that one of the other adults like Goten or Gohan could have done better. It's not as though she's completely useless but there are plenty of other characters that might be of more help. (Although then again that does make Trunks' rationale for keeping her even dumber)....I dunno.

Welllllllll, I don't think that's entirely fair to pin on her. She was only on the ship because she was looking for the Dragon Ball. With Trunks. They were both looking for the Dragon Ball. He just happened to leave right before the computer started acting fussy.

Lance Rumowicz

I will say in defense of Trunks not believing that Pan is useful, she was the entire reason they even went to planet Luud. If she hadn't gone on the para's spaceship and gotten trapped they wouldn't have gone there.

Eric M Brown

Probably privately on the way back to the planet because they passed the planet for 1 day and THEN went back.

I totally forgot Trunks didn’t want to stop at M2. Now I’m wondering when did he and Giru make that fake betrayal plan

The funny thing is, this video has hilarious timing, because what we're discovering in the real world, is that now that we have finally reached the point where AI might actually eventually challenge and surpass Human capacity in the real world through writing, drawing, etc. Humankind has proven itself to be just as hostile to the idea of robotic AI as Pan is to giru. Mind you, im not actually against opposing AI and the way people are developing it to crush creators, but i do find it a very interesting fact that despite all of humanity making fiction speculating on the worth of Robotic life, when it's actually coming to fruition, we reject it with spit and bile in every way. It's an interesting development, if obviously not relevant at all in regards to how the writers made this relationship.
