Secrets are not a good thing in a relationship, and the Katherine thing was always going to come back to haunt Stefan. He didn't need Damon for that. Caroline is a danger magnet. I feel so sorry for her. The romance between Stefan and Elena feels very innocent in that love scene, like the first teenage love. Vampires sometimes lose control of their face when they experience sexual excitement. This tends to affect vampires who are new or those that have certain feeding issues (Stefan's diet is not normal). Looking forward to the next episode, it is a really good one. Great reaction.
