So I was VERY close to suddenly at the last minute seeing Bill Murray live, singing old classic rock and blues hits with his band in concert in Del Mar tonight. I knew about the show months in advance but I declined to have any interest because it's a rich area, and rich areas have expensive things. My curiosity did get the best of me though, so I suddenly googled the event an about before it started, saw how strangely cheap some tickets where, and I purchased a ticket without reading the fine print 30 min before showtime. Only $20! I assumed tickets would've been at least $100 plus. I bought the ticket, got the receipt, but never was emailed the actual ticket and stood outside The Sound hoping to suddenly get the ticket email to catch the last 30 mins of the show. NOPE! 🀣 I guess Bill having been an influence on my life since I was like 5 made me a sucker for a cheap ticket reselling at last min online scam. I shouldn't have let my guard down.

Yeah I remember it coming out back in the day and it being the butt of many jokes 😭😭

Watch all but the 2015/2016 one. It was a failed reboot and is not part of the original series.

Ghostbusters II and Afterlife are both very worth watching, in my opinion. Different sort of film, in a way, in the 2nd one - they made it after the animated series and wanted to broaden the family appeal. Afterlife is a true sequel, 32 years later, and was a passion project by the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original.

People are harsh on Ghostbusters 2 but I love it so much... it's more of the same from the characters from the original and there are so many more quotable lines in the second one! As they say in the song "bustin' makes me feel good!"

thats a fan favorite for sure (I am fan)

In case no one has mentioned it yet. A lot of Bill Murray's lines were ad-libed. Among my favorite is, "Yes Sir, this man has no dick."

Yes, Ghostbusters 2 is great. I think I saw it first, because I was too young and afraid to watch most of the original when it would air on TV. 2 also scared me a lot as a kid, but I even though I was terrified and would shut my eyes during key scenes in 2, it was still one of my favorite films to rewatch whenever it was on. I used to watch the cartoon show every morning before school, I think it was on UPN. Currently I'd say my ranking of the films right now is Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters 2, and Ghostbusters (2016). I haven't yet seen Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire yet. Planning on it, but I liked Afterlife so much that I'm afraid the probability of it recapturing some of the magic they happened upon might not happen again, it having done such a good job of reinvigorating the franchise with so much heart. I give it a 50/50 chance that I'll love it or be unimpressed. For the record in regards to the 2016 reboot film, Kristen Wigg, Kate Mckinnon and Leslie Jones are among some of my current favorite comedians, but I think the script just wasn't good enough, and as a reboot, it didn't have enough original story ideas for my and most tastes. It just retreaded a lot of the same water. It's original teaser trailer also led with the false claim that the Ghostbusters were returning, rather than it being a complete universe reset of a similar team with new characters. So it did genuinely feel like real bait and switch type situation. I didn't hate it, I liked it enough to not want my money back or anything like that, but I also haven't had a desire to see it again since the theater and it's not part of the continuing storyline of the original characters. It was just a movie without any memorable parts. I would only recommend watching it as a curiosity as its own separate thing if you've already lost investment in the original characters, after watching all the better ones. It has nothing to do with them other than some actor cameos as random New Yorkers.

Ghostbusters is a true 80’s classic! You can skip the 2016 Ghostbusters movie. The rest are definitely worth the watch, but the original will always be the best!

Blind Entertainment

I found it interesting that during the explosion at the firehouse, the one Ghostbuster that laid hands on the EPA guy in rage was Egon... the one that showed little emotion at any other time. Kinda tells me that he's a deep one.

Don't you know your NY history, V? Ghosts aren't a problem in NY anymore because the Ghostbusters took care of them all, lol. Jeez, V. ;) The reason it didn't win polls is because of recency bias. Idk what the metrics are for your patrons but I saw patterns in the voting and certain types of films that tend to win. I have even made mention of that bias and patterns, lol, quite a bit, lol. Maybe try polls with films all from the same decade or something instead of focusing on genre so much? That can filter quite a bit of that bias. Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray all worked together as comedy writers and sketch artists with Saturday Night Live. The three of them have often gotten together to write films. Harold Ramis later became a big director and writer. Harold is lauded as one of the funniest of the group of them. Bill and Harold also teamed up for the movie Stripes (1981) which includes their buddy John Candy. In the 70s and 80s, the Saturday Night Live veterans made huge careers for themselves. Dan Aykroyd even wrote for Twilight Zone the series and Twilight Zone: The Movie. There are 5 Ghostbusters movies. 1, 2, 4, and 5 are the storyline. The 3rd film was a reboot and replaced all the Ghostbusters with female comedic actors (many also from Saturday Night Live). To put it plainly, it was a hot mess of a film and isn't canonic in anyway. There is a cartoon series as well that takes place after the second film and Slimer becomes the mascot of sorts and joins the team. Slimer (the green gluton ghost) was supposed to be completely different and played by John Belushi (another Saturday Night Live buddy) but he died as Harold and Dan were writing the screenplay. Instead they created a greedy eating ghost which is based on Belushi's character in Animal House (1978) as a tribute to him. Eddie Murphy (another SNL alum) was offered the role of Winston but turned it down. Winston had a much bigger role in the early script and many of his lines went to the other actors when Eddie turned down the role. Paul Reubens (the guy who played Pee Wee) was offered the role of Gozer at one point. When Sigourney Weaver auditioned for the part, she got up on the couch and acted like a dog, lol. She got the part right away, lol. Dana's floating off the bed scene was done complete with practical effects. The poll that had the lift was hidden behind the curtains and Sigourney was in a full body cast attached to the lift. That's why she was completely still accept for her feet and arms and head. The name Gozer came from a real record of a haunting. The same haunting that Conjuring 2 (2016) is based on. Although there was a script, Bill Murray decided to ad-lib most of his lines instead. In fact, most scenes were ad-libbed or improvised and usually never went as it was scripted, lol. Too many comedians hanging out, i guess, lol. The actual firehouse used for the location of the Ghostbuster headquarters hosts a Ghostbuster party every year. The scene with the Ghostbusters running from security at Rockefeller Center was shot guerilla style, as in, that was a real security guard kicking them out and they didn't get filming licenses to shoot there, lol. When the movie was in theaters, the Ghostbusters trailer commercial, that aired in people's homes, had real 1-800 phone number posted to help drum up attendance. When you called the number, you got a recorded line of Bill and Dan saying they are out catching ghosts and can't take your call right now. The actor that played Walter Peck (the EPA guy), stated that for years after this film that he got tons of hate. If people recognized him out and about, then would yell "Hey, dickless!" at him, lol. He did reprise this role, btw, in the latest film; Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The scene in Louis's party is one continuous shot and completely improvised by Rick Moranis. Notice how Louis, the future Keymaster, gets locked outside of his own apartment constantly? lol. Not a very good Keymaster there buddy, lol. The shaving cream was really heavy. You know that riddle, what's heavier 70lbs of feathers or 70lbs of lead? Same thing. The proton packs were already around 60lbs. Now add heaping mounds of shaving cream all over them, lol. There were a ton of extra scenes cut that you can see on youtube. There are few appearance cameos without lines. Ron Jeremy, the pornstar, can be seen in the crowd behind the barricade when Ray and Winston drive up in Ecto-1. Debbie Gibson, the popstar, is at one of the tables with balloons when Louis is running from the Keymaster hound. And Cassie Kasem, famous radio DJ who does get speaking lines and plays himself, is on the radio in Dana's apartment. The Classics, that I have BEEN recommending for years, lol Conan the Barbarian (1982) Demolition Man (1993) Total Recall (1990) Empire Records (1995) Labyrinth (1986) The Dark Crystal (1982) Willow (1988) The NeverEnding Story (1984) City Slickers (1991) Thunderheart (1992) Little Man Tate (1991) Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993) Camp Nowhere (1994) Desperado (1995) The Abyss (1989) A League of Their Own (1992) Memphis Belle (1990) Rear Window (1954) Child’s Play (1988) The Burbs (1989) Little Shop of Horrors (1986) Maximum Overdrive (1986) Twilight Zone The Movie (1983) The Last Starfighter (1984) Hudson Hawk (1991) PCU (1994) Judge Dredd (1995) Dark City (1998) The Beastmaster (1982) Heavy Metal (1981) Time Bandits (1981) Porky's (1981) Wizards (1977) Innerspace (1987) Clueless (1995) High Spirits (1988) The Golden Child (1986) Better Off Dead (1985) Weekend at Bernie's (1989) Weird Science (1985) Beetlejuice (1988) Short Circuit (1988) Mr. Mom (1983) Multiplicity (1996) Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991) Three Amigos!
