Better Call Saul S6 Ep 11 | Full Length Reaction!

Nearing the end... I'm not ready... 😒

The black and white is actually present day after BB and the color is BCS

The editing in this show and the storytelling is amazing. I've seen this episode a number of times, and I didn't pick up the meaning of the intercuts with the past till just now. Mike warned Saul very clearly not to get involved with Walter. Gene's entryman told Gene not to rob the mark with cancer. The shots of Gene breaking in are intercut with the shots of Saul arriving at the school to get involved with Walt. At both times, he's ignoring the warnings. Getting involved with Walt is what ultimately led to Saul's downfall. So...this doesn't bode well for Gene.

I have an idea. After all the darkness from BB and BCS....how about a pallette cleanser of something a little less dark and in a more vibrant setting? Something like....Burn Notice? That's a bit to chew through though. Maybe Vee can put up a poll and we can vote?

Carol Burnett is an icon and a national treasure, the show is greater by having her in it, she was a big fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul was one of her favorite shows. Bob Odenkirk was a huge fan of her too, and I wish I had delved earlier more deeply into her career and shows. The re-casting of Jeff was able to be turned around into something more genius. The original Jeff, (Don Harvey) seemed menacing and scary, watching a scared Jimmy through the rearview mirror, and he was downright creepy when confronting Jimmy at the mall saying that he recognized him as Saul. In THIS episode, going toward the house at the end, we see the same shot of Jeff looking at Jim through the rearview mirror, but now Jeff (Pat Healy) is the one who is worried, intimidated, scared of Jimmy and what he is doing now. The new actor is able to portray that better, Jimmy was not to be intimidated by his new partners in crime. It was that call at the payphone that set him off into this path again, trying to regain his now former life. Whatever was said truly pissed him off, angered him, and like the episode where Kim leaves Jimmy for good, it seems the whole life as Saul is a way for Jimmy to cope with losing Kim, as it was when his relationship with Chuck burned, like Chuck himself, a way for him to regain control and autonomy, and what better way for Slippin' Jimmy than to exert power over others in such cruel and deviant way, conning them and the system and exploiting the weaknesses and loopholes, for him to gain some worth and finally get ahead in life, but in this life as Gene as a way to have some psychological win.

Was so happy Carol Burnett was in this loved her as Miss Hannigan in Annie as a kid

The black and white makes me feel like we're watching Jimmy in limbo. He's stuck between his old life and his death with nowhere to go

Jimmy/Gene isn't doing these crimes because he's bad, per se. He did the first one with Jeff and his brother solely for the "mutually assured destruction" thing he described, to make sure Jeff who recognized him kept quiet. But it was the most alive Jimmy felt since his time in hiding. His life as Gene is boring, meaningless, black & white, as you put it, V. This is the most fun he's had in a long time, the first time he's felt alive in a long time. On another note, for you yungins who may not know, Carol Burnett who plays Marion was one of the biggest TV comedy star in the 70s and 80s, definitely the biggest female comedy star of her era. Her variety show lasted like 12 years over 2 decades. For those of us who did recognize or remember her, it was just another stunning, wondrous jolt of joy and wonder that BCS so often provides. Great casting, great get!

I feel this episode and the Walt and Jesse cameo is to indicate how Walt had an impact on Jimmy. Jimmy would've given up on this last cancer mark before Walt entered his life. Plus, it feels like he is making up for all the lost money in the shell companies. He was counting on those hidden nest eggs, at least one surviving. I am also intensely curious about that phone call to Kim, lol. I did not expect it to have the result it did, lol.

Amazing that the scene in Breaking Bad (episode Better Call Saul) where Walt and Jesse take Saul out to the desert Saul literally says "It wasn't me, it was Ignacio" and "Did Lalo send you" The guy from the bar is Buzz from Home Alone Also the phone call Gene has with Francesca is set up in the flash forward intro in season 4 (episode Quite a Ride) where he tells her "where are you gonna be November 12 at 3pm" 😊
