Pan's Labyrinth | Full Length Reaction!

HAHAHAHA.... LIGHTHEARTED!

Mastervodo

If you thought “Pan’s Labyrinth” was going to be whimsical and happy, you’re probably confusing it with “Labyrinth”. Just saying.

I just joined the Patreon after watching the YouTube cut for this movie, hoping for some explanation about her extreme aversion to the word "labyrinth" and the association with things satanic. I'm amazed nobody has asked. Is it mentioned in the full length version?

i wasn't expecting to rewatch this movie again so soon, and it's been so long since i watched it.. it's alot more depressed than when i remembered it, really nice to see this reaction from you

M F

I rented this to watch with a very squeamish friend. I remembered all the magical fantasy stuff, but I had forgotten that it takes place during the Spanish Civil War. Oopsie.

Thomas Williamson

I think that when the wall opened up in the labyrinth while the captain chased her and closed so that it was a dead end for him… makes me think the magic was real and not in her head

Christopher Michael Porter

She should have died, I agree

Nice, in every poll I voted for this :) But when she said "lighthearted" I had to go back, listen again, then I checked the title again and made sure I clicked the right video. In the end I was just like "aww honey.."

So happy you decided to check out this gem despite it losing in the polls. Guillermo Del Torro is a fantastic director and has made some wonderful films.

Ok -- story time. Back when this movie came out I took a cute girl with Tourette's syndrome out on a date to see it. I think we were both expecting to see something along the lines of "The Labyrinth" -- the Jim Henson and David Bowie thing. Boy were we wrong. Watching this without knowing what I was getting into while sitting next to a girl I didn't know very well that periodically made lound involuntary cat noises was... unsettling.

tbh she shouldve been eaten by the hand eye monster, she absolutely deserved it. being a a kid or not doesnt matter in the face of the sheer death seeking she did there. if a child runs in front of a car despite the warning by people and dies then it is what it is.

Captain is a closeted gay man, that’s why he’s so angry. The women in the kitchen call him out.

When this first came out, some theaters were apparently having to put signs at the box office specifying that it was NOT a children's film. (As if the marketing and the R-rating weren't enough.) As long as you're braving the word "labyrinth," any chance you'll watch the movie "Labyrinth?" :)

Bryan Tuck

Nice surprise and great choice!

James M

This is the film I voted for when it whenever it was on a poll though it never won so this makes me super happy.

Ian Marshall

OMG I think I'm having a panic attack!! I have been wishing for this reaction and it came True!! YES!!!!

Electro

Nice surprise! Can’t wait for ROTK

You are viewing this as a fantasy but for the Spanish is a historical reality about trauma. The fantasy elements are her imagination as she is trying to escape oppression. But they lead her to defeat evil. It's a homage to how fantasy is a metaphor for our world and the monsters are rooted on real monsters (the fascist in this case). She died at the end (the kingdom vision is her transcendental fulfillment).

So excited! Now I just need to dig up my copy for the watch-along. ❤

Erin Haury

Fantastic choice

Matt
