Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace | Full Length Reaction

IT'S FINALLY HERE GUYS! THE PREQUELS!!!!!! :)

Why is Darth Maul so cool and why did he have to die :(

HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOY THE REACTION!!!!! Can't wait to continue the story

Comments

It was a loaded dice to red but qui gon used the force to make it go blue

Golden Claw23

i know you did this reaction awhile ago, but you should watch the clone wars series which is set between episodes 2 and 3 i bet you'll enjoy it! )

Dylan

About the architecture of Naboo and you'd like to see something like that, check out Lake Como, Italy. Very beautiful and other worldly.

David Kent

It is unfortunate that you did not watch them in chronological order. Darth Vaders redemption would've been much more emotionally impacting in Episode VI if you would've watched prequels first. Though old effects downgrade would've felt weird. Jar Jar Binks is 6'5 (1.96 m) tall. Reason why he looks so big next to Padme is that Natalie Portman is 5'2 1/2 (1.59 m) tall. She is tiny.

Kalle-Tapani Isomaa

The movie was filmed in 1997. Natalie Portman was born in 1981, so she was 16.

Михаил Волков

This is the first time I’ve ever watched this movie and found it charming , even funny.

Episode 3 is the best

Mambah Mango 12

My favorite movie of all the Star Wars universe is Return of the Jedi.

Oouga

Not sure if anyone told you the ages of the main characters here. Anakin is 9. Padme is 14. Obi-wan is early 20s. And Qui-gon was 65, which is why he had to take a knee and rest in the middle of his battle with Darth Maul. Qui-gon, played by Liam Neeson, was 6'5", but the sets were built at 6'0", so they had to extend the sets due to the actor's unexpectedly greater height. Yes, Jar-Jar is about 7 foot.

Oouga

Now I can tell you, my favorite character in the entire series is Obi-wan Kenobi. :-)

Love your channel!!!!! Especially your star wars reaction videos!!!! I agree with one of the previous comments(from Star killer) about episode 3 being a "doozy" as I'm not really a fan of that one!!!! I haven't watched episode 8 or 9....because I watched part of 7 and to me 7,8 and 9 are garbage. My favorites are 1,3 and 6, plus rogue one(which you should watch too!!!). Anyways I've been a fan of star wars since Empire strikes back was first in movie theaters (before the dinosaurs roamed the earth))). One overused phrase in the star wars movies is "I got a bad feeling about this"... sometimes used more than once in those movies. Have you tried watching "Airplane" or "Home Alone"?? Very funny movies!!! Well again love your Star wars videos!!!

Jeff

Vkunia I agree that I would like to visit Naboo. The capitol city reminds me of a Mediterranean city. Maybe somewhere in Spain or Italy as the comment above said it was filmed in Naples. It was mostly CGI I think, so I am not sure anywhere on Earth would compare. :)?

Nate L

I'm not going say any spoilers but you better get ready for Episode 3 because it's a doozy . Your heart will be in for a ride . That's all I'm going to say

Anakin Starkiller

🙁 Jar Jar I can't help but think was there for coming relief

Anakin Starkiller

The costume and set design is definitely beautiful in this trilogy

The podracing games could be very tough. But its cool they featured tracks from across the galaxy, not just Tatooine.

MarcusMan8

How can we be mean to you? Your review was super cute.

Enrique Garcia

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!!!!! This is why I love you. Keep those Star Wars reactions coming. I love your reactions and I can't wait... CAN'T wait!!!.... for the rest of your reactions to these films. Sorry, I'm totally nerding out. :)

Dave M.

Now this is podracing! Ahh the nostalgia and one liners still make it so fun to watch. The lore actually still holds up too.

Episode I is definitely the most kid friendly of the Star Wars movies but the next two are darker and more adult orientated. I'd also say its the worst of the prequels but still a great movie. It had to start somewhere and it did a good job of creating a unique vibe that the next two movies could build on without copying the originals or being so different that it didn't feel like Star Wars, if that makes sense. Qui-Gon makes the movie for me and the lightsaber duel at the end between Maul and Obi-Wan is one of the best in the franchise. You're 100% correct about Star Wars being the story of Anakin Skywalker. George Lucas has stated this many times. Also, the term Skywalker Saga refers to the main line of movies from Episodes 1 to 6, now up to Episode 9 as they all tell the story of the Skywalker family. Regarding Anakin, while the Jedi Council was correct in being fearful of his training and Qui-Gon might seem like he's in the wrong, lets not forget what happens at the end of Return of the Jedi. I'm not going to get into explaining the politics or the storylines in this movie because I don't want to accidentally spoil anything (you seemed to have caught on for the most part anyway) but here's some information on character ages and filming locations. The ages of the main characters are: Anakin Skywalker, 9 yrs. Padme Amidala, 14 yrs. Qui-Gon Jin, 48 yrs and Obi-Wan Kenobi, 25 yrs. These are the ages of the characters not the actors. For example Natalie Portman was actually 19 but playing a 14 year old. There's a significant time jump to the next movie so this info will come in handy. The Tattooine scenes were filmed in Tunisia, North Africa just as they were in the original trilogy. The Naboo scenes were mostly filmed in and around Naples, Italy. All of the interior scenes on Naboo were filmed in real locations, while most but not all of the exterior scenes were CGI. Here's a page that goes into more detail: https://www.movie-locations.com/movies/s/Star-Wars-1-The-Phantom-Menace.php#:~:text=Star%20Wars%20Episode%20I%3A%20The%20Phantom%20Menace%20%7C%201999&text=It's%20back%20to%20Tunisia%20for,of%20Matmata%20in%20southern%20Tunisia Excited for the next one!

JMCN1990

This is the Star Wars I saw by myself

Anakin Starkiller

Ahaha that would have been an experience.

Lee Salvemini

2D Clonewars actually would be cool O_O

Lee Salvemini

I remember watching this while i was stoned with some friends and the pod race scene really put us on a ride. We where just ducking and swerving and bumping each other in our seats. Despite the prequels having a bad rap compared to the originals, there where some really fun moments in these movies. Hope you enjoy them.

Tiger Chu

Gotta watch the cartoons after episode 2!!

TB

George Lucas said that the six films are the story of Anakin. That why episode 6 is call the Return of the Jedi when Anakin returns

William Fortner

Fun fact: I was born in Danville, KY. The doctor who delivered me was Julian Hardaway. His son, Andrew Hardaway, helped design and create the pod race scene. And that’s my tie to Star Wars.

MotoDork

Yeah youtube sometimes glitches out and doesn't process as fast as it should :/

VKunia

Well shit. It says "We're processing this video"

MotoDork

This movie is so darn nostalgic for me; I saw it 3 times in theaters back in the day. When I was older it became OK, but as a 9 year old lad it was amaze-balls!

generic_sauce

Yay can't wait to enjoy your reaction with you

joshuapurvis32

Yay!
