Small Productivity Speedbump

I lost my work computer to a glass of water Saturday evening. It was powered on and, well, that’s all she wrote. Fortunately I was able to acquire a replacement upgrade the same day.

Everything important is backed up and I restored most of it. But I lost some recent work that I had done in the past couple of weeks. I was able to get them back (partly because Patreon’s file attachments act kind of like a off site backup for me) but I lost those PSD files (not a huge deal). But because of that last couple-week work loss, I lost the last two pages of “Offline” and the first page of “Normal Perverts”. Fortunately, I’d sent these completed pages to my girlfriend to show the moment I finished them, and she has the files, so comic updates shouldn’t be affected. However, the chat program used to share them through may have compressed them somewhat. So those pages might not be of the same size/quality as the rest. But I’ll see when I get the files back.

So, today, I’m finishing setting up my new computer with all the drivers and settings I need to work normally. And then I’ll try to knock out a few things.

Thank you for your support! Without it I couldn’t bounce back from this so quickly. (And I’ll probably do more timely backups from now on).

I'm pleased to know that you follow the mantra "Back up your work frequently".

Not trying to shill here but I like Backblaze for automatic offsite backup that continuously keeps up to date. Try it if you want and I have a referral code that gives me a discount if you decide to keep it.

I am offering my service to be one of your trustable and safe backup options for PSDs and finished pages...:3 It will be a tough job but someone’s got to do it! Wish you good luck with the final preparations and the datas!

Your cat had something to do with it, didn't it...

I know your pain. Old drive decided to die a year ago (on Halloween actually) and it literally took a week to back everything up (was moving at kilobytes a second). Luckily I had other drives but I do a lot within a week so really didn't feel like losing stuff. But yeah take your time getting things back to normal :3

I am sorry!

Well fuck...

Oh glass of water. At least most of your stuff is backed up

I was going to suggest the same thing. Had a similar problem before and just used my old PC hard drive as an extra in my new pc for all my game files and work projects.

I blame the cat.

We're here for ya, Jay. You do your thing, and take care of yourself! Thanks for telling everybody as soon as you could!

Hopefully you can fix all this with ease. Having to do all that work all over would've been frustrating.

Zeroabsl

That'll be something I try in my spare time.

Harddrives usually aren't harmed by water damage(They are airtight), especially if we're talking about a laptop the water shouldn't even have reached it. Couldn't you just take the harddrive out and plug it into the new computer, or into a desktop, and get the files?

Rest in pieces compooter

Oh, man. Sounds like an expensive repair.
