Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department ALBUM LISTENING PARTY/UNCUT REACTION

Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department ALBUM LISTENING PARTY/UNCUT REACTION

Comments

Loved your reaction! I agree with your sentiment that we’ve watched Taylor really grow and mature over the years and part of why we love her so much is because of how vulnerable she is. She lets us in to such intimate emotions that we can share with her from our own experiences and often times I think her music also helps us clarify our own emotions about something that might have happened to us.

Jody Murray

I would say "Jehovahs Witness Suit" would say otherwise. He ghosted her when stuff got difficult. He showed her off in public, was a major pothead(seen got stoned and ate 7 bars of chocolate )." Queen had come" makes him Brittish for sure. So much more but "it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden " is 100% him. They pined and snuck around, obviously, and once he didn't have that danger and she was his, he was coward that changed his mind. He love bombed her. All the songs combined show this.

Sadie Mayo

For so long 1989 was my favorite album. I’m a TTPD girly now.

Aike

Florida - you summed it up exactly as Taylor described this song on iHeart

Teresa Salas

I actually 100% think you’re onto something here. That makes A LOT more sense to me than either Joe Alwyn or Matty Healy.

Jen Rego

Absolutely love your reaction videos! This is a totally different vibe than TTPD, but if you haven't heard Troye Sivan's album 'Something to Give Eachother', I highly recommend it! I'm not sure if it would be your vibe but the production quality is insaaane and it's really just a super fun album. Perfect for summer!

Clara bow felt way more like a cautionary tale than inspiration. Like there will always be the next best thing. Telling Stevie nicks that she looks like Clara bow but even better. Then saying Taylor looks like Stevie, and then the next “it” girl looking like taylor, but even better, as long as you promise to sparkle and be perfect. Sad song for me

Bri Renneisen

I’m so obsessed with how you can hear backstage at the eras tour in the background of I can do it with a broken heart. Also, when are we going to start abbreviating these songs?

Bri Renneisen

I feel like you’re feelings are going to be hurt if/when you ever learn the Matty Healy history. 😭

Bri Renneisen

Unpopular opinion: Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is about Scooter Braun. There are a couple clues for me - buying drugs from a friend of a friend connects to white collar crimes from Vigilante Shit, the bad record label deal seems like it went down at the beginning of the summer, share holder meeting was in June. Still parsing but I personally don’t feel like she has that much animosity toward Healy.

harperluu

Guilty As Sin is defintely about Matty Healy from the band the 1975. His favorite song is Downtown Lights and She had been into him since 2014 but I guess it never worked out but they dated after she dated Joe but it only last about a month

Ashley Murphy

Loved this!

This is the emo album that all of us Swemo's have been waiting for 🤍 I mean, The Starting Line being name dropped on "The Black Dog" solidified it for me, but these lyrics are about as emo as they get 🤍

Kaitlyn Matzek

I love your reaction to this album because that was my reaction as well. This album is so raw and open.

RuthGA

Currently, my top three are: I Can Fix Him, Florida, and either Down Bad or Who's Afraid of Little Old Me.

Sarah McKay

I LOVE this album, I think it could be my new favorite. I've heard a lot of mixed opinions so far, but Midnights was kind of that way too. I love this sound from her. I also really enjoyed the bonus tracks, can't wait to see you react to those! Its so hard to pick faves at this point, I honestly loved every track. Right now, in no particular order: Florida But Daddy I Love Him Whos Afraid of Little Old Me Fortnite (I can't narrow it down haha!) Also I Can Do it With A Broken Heart.

Jenny MacRunnel

That was just the best thing ever...Loved every single song...Taylor sang with her heart on her sleeve...Nothing flashy or big vocals...but sill everything...and still another 16 to go...I loved it....Thanks Steven :)

David Hampson

Best reaction I've seen, thank you! Looking forward to #2!

Betty O

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I've had a marvelous time ruini... watching everything 😏 This album is out of this world! 🤍 The lyrics, the vocals, the details, the instrumentals, the arrangements, the collaborations. Everything!

MsCarlson

Florida was the first (3!!!) concert she gave after the news came out that she and Joe had separated.

Darren Kuhnau

I had such a wonderful time.

hea booktubes

That song would make the BEST video!!! She has to do it!

Tracy Dumpit

The fact that she made it a double album though!! I haven't even listened to the album yet, but my friends who have already have been absolutely raving about it, and I've been looking forward to it since she first announced it at the Grammys! It blows my mind that she managed to make an entire album in the midst of the eras tour like her talent is unmatched.

Patty Go

I would LOVE But Daddy I Love Him to be a single with a music video. Can you imagine the cinematic masterpiece that could be?! This whole album from top to bottom and beyond though...it feels like a fever dream. It doesn't feel like an album she made to please the fans, it feels like it's simply her. no hiding behind a performance or creating an era...it's just taylor, sitting at home in old comfy pajamas, wine in hand, and lots of things on her mind. i love it.

Tiffany S

I loved it right from the start, but every listen just gets better and better. Wow. Just an absolutely amazing album.

Addison

As I was listening to the album for the first time, I kept saying, these songs don't sound like she's telling stories; they sound like she's on the phone with her best friend, just telling her all the shit that's going on. Or they sound like we're literally listening to conversations or arguments in real time. Like, usually her songs are story telling. Of course she's drawing on real experiences and emotions, but they just felt like stories or memories. These songs felt like the actual moments, like we are, in the moment of listening, hearing/seeing it all happen. Everything is so specific and personal and raw 🤍 I will die on the hill that loml should have been track 5. It was so tragic and devastating. You could just hear her breaking heart, just feeling like she's lying shattered on the floor 💔 My three favorites (right now lol) are Down Bad, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, and loml. But I Can Do it with a Broken Heart is up there too.

Jenny D

Thank you, so enjoyed your reaction

Alissa

Thank you, Steven! I started my journey at midnight but I'm so grateful to wake up and have this! I think I needed it!

Tinwhistle

this record absolutely is a masterpiece.... every listen it just gets better!

Vronnie

I only got through track 5 then came here to finish watching with you because I need moral support after that one.

Amanda M.

Really so quick...I was going to wait till mine dropped through the post...But I now know what I am going to be doing this afternoon...I know this is going to be amazing....it will be a first time reaction for me also...Thank you...your the best :)
