BABYMETAL LEGEND D - Full Concert Watch Along

I always do some test recording before filming. After the first song, I decided to lean forward so I'm not just sitting up straight the whole time. My face ended up being way to close the camera most of the time. I will fix that for all other videos moving forward! Hope you enjoy experiencing this old school BABYMETAL live performance as much as I did!

Good to know! Thanks!

Jaron Geil

It’s a blast! πŸ€™

Jaron Geil

Such a pleasure to see BabyMetal perform these cover songs , especially the cover song of SU’s former band-and the rave version of Headbanger. Thank you for checking out these full concerts.

NOT-A CULT

16:58 this song is White Love by a J-Pop group called SPEED, this is a 1 time metal cover, first in a series of J-Pop metal cover songs with love in the name which are hits from their birthyears. What I always said about this performance this is where we see the start of the modern Su-metal. Strutting on the stage and singing this song meant to be song by 3 singers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjv4kekEDTU

The crazy version of Headbanger, known as Night of 15 remix was done by the song writer of Megitsune, Karate, etc. he also does DJ work. He started with creating metal music with vocaloid. Something you can clearly hear in this song.

You do them how you want, but after seeing this video, I think that is a good way to do it, that way you won't miss anything

Good to know!

Jaron Geil

Agreed! Very well-balanced live mix thankfully!

Jaron Geil

Yup! I plan on doing all of the festival performances as well! It's the head bob along with the floppy drum sticks that gets me!

Jaron Geil

I was genuinely surprised! Sorry for the spill! πŸ˜‚

Jaron Geil

Thanks! That's a good point, but I would assume keeping the mic right in front of her mouth while doing all of the chorography would be a bigger priority, and I assume that would be easier with her dominant hand. Either way, still very impressive!

Jaron Geil

Okay, that makes sense!

Jaron Geil

It the floppy drum sticks in combination with the side-to-side head bob that always gets me!

Jaron Geil

Thanks! I like the idea of tracking the timeline of progress and turning it into somewhat of a series!

Jaron Geil

Thanks for your support!

Oh and speaking about this amazing crowd: look forward to Metrock 2015. Hands down my favourite crowd

Great reaction! I know some people dismiss these early concerts due to lack of live Kami Band and stuff, but to Me they're a testament to both them improving their performance and also how great the original songs sound turned up like this. If they had been recorded with a shitty production, they would have sounded horrible here. Luckily they sound amazing. 🀘🏻🦊🀘🏻

That cover version at the end was the song "Tsubasa wo kudasai". It’s a popular folk song and has also been featured on the Neon Genesis Evangelion soundtrack. It's one of the tunes that drive me to tears instantly, but I'm in good company (if you looked at Moa). If you continue doing these complete show reactions, it would be cool if you included the Metrock Festival 2015 show. It's a short set (30 minutes or so, I think), but the energy is unmatched. And we hardly get so see any reactions to this ever. I suppose no one is really happy with the Babybones band, but to be honest, I somewhat enjoy watching the drummer shake his head in a totally un-Metal manner.

I found it very helpful to understand the early lore. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1biDWIbM6jkMrmDy482o8Wc9tGBNXaKzB/view?usp=sharing

Bro… amazing!! Honestly, I’ve never actually watched the I, D, Z concerts in full. Just checked out Su’s special covers. While it’s not the same w/o the Kami Band present, and the production quality is a far cry from their later shows, they are still absolutely amazing. Just goes to show how awesome these young ladies are. Also, you owe me an ounce if Jack & coke during IDZ: β€œOh, looks like Yui & Moa gets a break…Nooope!” I totally spat out my drink there, Hahaha Thank you for another amazing reaction. Looking forward to you going through all their shows in chronological order!! 🀘🦊

Ganimal

Hell yeah! I sent Jaron the lore spreadsheet and essential links with subs, but having a PDF probably makes it so much easier!

Ganimal

Love your reactions! Regarding your question about if Su is right or left handed. I don't know, but her right arm is moving all the time doing choreography. I would find it easier doing it this way being righthanded. I would probably be sticking a finger in my eye all the time :). I also agree with regards to the lack of a live band. The Kami Band pretty much takes every song to the next level. I can't say there is one song that I don't prefer the live version over the album version.

Robert Gulyas

That last song you mention is a cover, the name is Tsubasa Wo Kudasai (Please Give Me Wings). According to Wikipedia "a popular Japanese folk song." "The song was composed for the Nemu Popular Festival '70 that took place in Shima, Mie in 1970." If anyone is interested, I have a pdf with the translation of what they say in the videos. It's from I, D, Z shows.

I should start by pointing out that "floppy drumsticks syndrome" is a serious medical condition.. :P Yeah lots of glowsticks early on, You still see an odd one here and there at gigs 10 years later, Of course it goes without saying that you should never ask a glowstick user where the forklift is. As you pointed out Su is nice and forward in the mix this time, They do seem to flip flop on how forward or buried Su is in the mix from performance to performance. I did chuckle way to hard at... "now the other two get a break" Yui & Moa go brrrrrrrrrrr Fun reaction thanks Jaron

tilbury_99

Jaron, this is really, really, clever of you. I have never bothered to go that far back in the spreadsheet, simply because, whilst I appreciate their talent, I just couldn't get over the cutesiness. However, we are seeing the genesis here, the lore, their stories are beginning. I already see so many references that will come up in future shows, especially Legend 1997. Jaron, this was fantastic, I won't do any spoilers, but this concert almost reads like a map, a map you can only read in hindsight, or perhaps more fitting for Babymetal, the rear-view mirror, if you understand me, freaking brilliant. And Jaron, it was nice to see your face again, even if it was bigger than the sun on a hot July afternoon in Texas. (just kidding), it was fine, if you didn't say anything I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference. These concert reactions are really fascinating, thanks again for doing them.

Len Cooke

Thank you, I'm here for the full concerts <3
