This ep made me reflect a bit on Joe's real skills. He could be a fantastic hostage negotiator, I think. He's personable, calm to the point of being half asleep, and genuinely interested in people's unhinged theories and bonkers conspiratorial reasoning. He's exactly who you'd want to delay a crazy person for 12 hours while the FBI get ready to raid the building. I think Joe would have amazing intuition about when to say "whoa. oh my god" vs "have you ever tried, like, as a thought experiment, what if your ex called 911 because she really cares about you?" vs "wow, so you saw inside the spacecraft? what was that like?" Joe's malleability, accompanied by ultimately pro-status-quo instincts, would make him ideal for that kind of situation. (If you worry that Joe would get convinced by the crazy person and join them, I think he's just too fundamentally lazy for that to be an issue.)

The slur word isn't "back" it was never "gone," you prolapsed anus. Like Cecil and Marsh said, we collectively as a society agreed it was a slur, and one that we should stop using because it denigrates people with cognitive differences just by the fact it is used to call someone stupid. It was never a "free speech" issue. The only consequence to using the word would have been fewer people wanting to listen to the idiot using it. These fools can never understand for even the barest moment that people do not owe you their time if you're saying shit that offends them! We're not obligated to listen to you when you use slurs!
