Comments

I just joined and am listening to the back catalog, so apologies for the late comment. One thing that struck me about Mel Gibson hand-waving the fall of the Aztecs and attributing it to people's dissatisfaction was that this is a way to divest blame. Given he's a staunch catholic, he may even attribute it to "God's will". That way it's not the conquistador's fault; this was inevitable. They were just profiting off circumstances. This just strikes me as a way to excuse colonialism and dismiss its impact.

Yesssss! The music for this podcast gives me all the good shivery feelings

Definitely not an AI overlord

There's only so much you can do, when you started out looking like Joe Rogan!

Definitely not an AI overlord

There are an entire two of us who understood the reference! So glad they got rid of mana burn.

Q2

I've been a dedicated weekly listener of CogDis since 2012 when I was in college (basically since its inception), & an aficionado of all the skeptic podcasts in their orbit. I just listened to this episode as my first Know Rogan experience, & am shaking from cathartic satisfaction. The world has needed this show for 10+ years, and Michael & Cecil executed it perfectly. I ask two things as you two move forward: 1. Don't forget that KRE needs to remain approachable to a first-time listener that was sent an episode to inoculate their Rogan-soaked worldview. As shows progress, most podcasts play exclusively to their existing listener base, & have so much inside context that they become unapproachable to new listeners. This will prove self-defeating to the stated goals of KRE if y'all don't stay vigilent trying to prevent it from happening. 2. Get a video version of this show going NOW! I am an older millenial; I listen to my podcasts & dont value YouTube video formatted discussion podcasts. But EVERY gen Z person I know (men & women) prefer YouTube podcasts. Some of them prefer to watch, some who listen just prefer the YouTube premium platform. If y'all want to be as influential as possible with this effort, get filming [I know you have the capacity to make this happen]. Upload these audio only episodes to uTube as well. Amazing work. Can't thank you two enough for making this happen! Go hard with this show, it will be worth the effort. Sending this episode to two of my Rogan listening family members. Thanks again ;-)

Good lord, this episode was fucking wild. I expected so much from mel, like the shroud talk and young earth stuff. What I had no clue and what I didn't expect was "ivermectin can cure stage 4 cancer, trust me bro I know people"

Man, being of an age, Mel was a freaking hero of mine. The Weapon films, Braveheart, even Tequila Sunrise - loved them all. And I'll still try to enjoy them, and pretend it's ACTUALLY Riggs (or Rob Roy 🤔🤔) on screen, and not some unhinged, middle aged nut case. Who has a very, very wet mouth, by the sounds of it...

Woo, mtg! I played magic for years

If Joe Rogan is in such good health, why does he look like Joe Rogan?

James Pipkin

Keep forgetting to tell you guys, but this fucking music is bad ass. I love it love love it.
