It seems, all the kids exhibit an excess of all the deadly sins.

Good observation about the real cat showing up at the end- I might have thought it was just Verna/Devil Lady again if I was watching on my own. If the murdered cat in the previous episode was a hallucination by Verna, then I'm not so sure Leo deserved to be driven mad and come to such a violent end. I guess it's still better than a chimp beating.

Two interesting things from the opening scene. The mystery-lady says:
- "I have a soft-spot for the short-timers. I always have." This is my second time watching the episodes. So, this is interesting based on what is learned later. This is not a spoiler.
- "How about these two? Not black, but siblings. I'd ask you to take them both though; keep 'em together. Important with siblings really you keep them together."
The first one is about her, I think. The second sounds like a comment about the Ushers.

Things will make sense after you finish, then you'll want to watch it all again. In a series full of disturbing scenes, the one that really messed me up was just a simple conversation between Roderick and another character. No spoilers. but I still think about it a lot.
