Even with all the killing Hanzee did this episode there is something so deeply sad about him.

I thought it was Paul Bettany narrating but it's Martin Freeman. Nice call back.

The biggest reference to a Coen Bros. movie in this episode is the UFO itself from 'The Man Who Wasn't There'.
The stupidity of the cops in this episode is so hilarious. They need to change out of their uniforms for an undercover operation, and ALL of them change into the same exact outfit - white t-shirt and jeans. The South Dakota chief running the operation has the line "I say we squeeze the lemons we got and use the juice to catch the bigger fish" kills me every time I hear it.

Yes. More David Fincher.

LOL been so called UFO sightings in every decade since the 1940's. Still was not needed and only made me laugh at a critical moment.

man the small touches of detail on this show are amazing...Lou walking into the little market shop where the clerk got shot....you can HEAR his heavy breathing. Very real reaction of your body getting itself ready for some real action.

Season 5 just started. First 2 episodes looking fantastic. Season 3 was ok, but I never made it all the way through season 4

I looked into that. There were actually several unexplained flying objects seen in that upper Midwest region around 1979. They incorporated that into this season.

Show lost me with the UFOs. Ruined what was a great season otherwise..

We're going to be taking a Fargo break after this season as we're going to watch a couple short seasons as they air, but not to say we won't be back for more Fargo!

I can understand wanting to see a showdown between Kansas City and the Gerhardts. However, part of the reason I loved the episode is that it just went completely off the rails and took wild unexpected turns.

I hope you guys continue with the further seasons; S3 is great with a fun villain, and S4 is still good and worth the time (not to mention that both seasons still have connections to S1 & S2).

The narrator of the episode was Martin Freeman, speaking with his regular accent instead of the Minnesota one he used for Lester.

Have you already decided upon you next TV series reaction? I recommend "Lonesome Dove" (1989). It's only four episodes, but has grown in legend over time. It's also based upon a classic Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
