I'm sure this one will not be on everyone's favorite list, but it does costar Anthony Hopkins and Mick Jagger (lead singer of the Rolling stones).

While a lot of this stuff might be based on historical events, it's obvious they were aiming for entertaining the audience above all else. Oh! While I know this is the movie the sample came from, when the guy is telling Billy who they are "We're regulators. We regulate any stealing of his property..." it was impossible not to have Warren G start playing in my mind.

2022-12-03 17:57:19 +0000 UTCThe funny thing about this movie, is that they toy with the Pat Garret shooting Billy in the back when Garret goes to warn him in Mexico. So, for people who know the history, everyone thought that was the moment. Garret even slides his hand towards his holster. The duology (possibly trilogy if they ever get the third one made) is one of my favorite Emilio Estevez roles. Although, REPO MAN is pretty close to my heart. He also went on to write and direct. One of my favorite films he directed was MEN AT WORK. It's funny because MEN AT WORK kind of borrows a lot from STAKEOUT--which is also great. Also, Charlie Sheen was a pretty big star at the time. And for him to be killed half way through the movie, was a huge deal. Because it let you know they're not fucking around. People are going to die and it just raised the stakes for the rest of the movie.

Such a great little 90s thriller. A great cast too, lead by Emilio Estevez and Cuba Gooding Jr. I'll add Stakeout (1987) to your Emilio Estevez list. It's my favourite film of his, and also my favourite Richard Dreyfuss film. It's a such a great 80s mix of buddy cop/action/comedy/romance. I also love Three O'Clock High (1987). What a wonderfully weird little high shcool movie that is.

It was MTV's music generation. Back when MTV played music videos. Lol If you have ever heard the very famous old school rap song "Regulate" by Warren G and Nate Dogg, the beginning of the song is a speech given by Charlie in the film about the Regulators. Regulate: https://youtu.be/1plPyJdXKIY These are the best movies on the Lincoln County War, as Johnny Lawrence was talking about in episode 5 of last seaaons Cobra Kai lol. Young Guns changed the way modern westerns were made. To further its mark in pop culture, Emilio Estevez was close friends with Bon Jovi, wanted to use his song Wanted Dead or Alive for part 2, Bon Jovi said no, he wanted to write a new song for the film instead and do the soundtrack. There in a bar he grabbed a napkin and in 5 minutes wrote the famous song "Blaze of Glory" for Young Guns 2. This is back when the music videos were as big as the movies. Ugh miss those days... Tom Cruise too for part 1, Emilio was friends with Tom Cruise from making The Outsiders (which you should totally react to), Tom visited the Young Guns movie set of the shootout in the end. He said he wouldn't mind playing a bad guy so they suited him up and you can see him for a few split seconds lol. Pat Garrett wrote that Billy was as fast as a flash. Billy was a celebrity to many. The movies are actually very accurate to events for the most part, some embellishments but for the most part pretty accurate according to some hostorians Ive listened to. That military gun in the end you can see in The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise, great film to react to. I really look forward to a Young Guns part 2 reaction. Definitely bigger soundtrack, budget everything. It's a classic. You can't do part 1 without part 2. Young Guns 3, called "Guns 3" is now in development. Has a pretty great soundtrack. A particular song was freaking EVERYWHERE that summer. I watched this a ton when I was younger. My mom had a crush on Kiefer Sutherland and this was one of her favorites to rewatch. So even tho it's probably been 15 years since I've seen this, I remembered almost all that dialogue, including vocal inflections. You should've seen me just acting out the "he knows what I just saw" scene, when Billy kills McCloskey. 🤣🤣

Bonney, was an outlaw and gunfighter of the American Old West, who killed eight men before he was shot and killed at the age of 21. He also fought in New Mexico's Lincoln County War, during which he allegedly committed three murders. McCarty was orphaned at the age of 15. His first arrest was for stealing food at the age of 16 in 1875. Ten days later, he robbed a Chinese laundry and was arrested again but escaped shortly afterwards. He fled from New Mexico Territory into neighboring Arizona Territory, making himself both an outlaw and a federal fugitive. In 1877, he began to call himself "William H. Bonney". Two versions of a wanted poster dated September 23, 1875 referred to him as "Wm. Wright, better known as Billy the Kid".[citation needed] After killing a blacksmith during an altercation in August 1877, McCarty became a wanted man in Arizona and returned to New Mexico, where he joined a group of cattle rustlers. He became well known in the region when he joined the Regulators and took part in the Lincoln County War of 1878. He and two other Regulators were later charged with killing three men, including Lincoln County Sheriff William J. Brady and one of his deputies. 2022-12-03 05:22:59 +0000 UTCI don't know how accurate the history is behind this movie but I know some parts are purportedly true. There was a Lincoln County War between different factions of cattle barons involving corrupt government officials, and Billy the Kid was somehow involved, although I don't think he was as central to the war the way they made him in this movie, but again I'm not sure. About Billy the Kid though, they did get his other aliases right, Henry McCarty and William Bonny, and when he gets his photo taken, Emilio's pose and outfit is pretty much a spot on recreation of the only known photograph of Billy. He also spoke fluent Spanish, because he spent a lot of time in Mexican villages along the border, and he was considered a hero to the local Mexicans because he was fighting the same people who were persecuting them and cheating them out of land. He was also supposedly an Irish Catholic immigrant and felt more at home with the Mexican villagers who were also Catholic. We meet Pat Garrett twice in the movie, in real life he was the man who took credit for killing an unarmed Billy the Kid in a dark room. He was, at least at one point, a friend of Billy, or so he said. Also, you guys should definitely watch the sequel, I haven't seen it in years but as I recall it was pretty much just as good as the first.
