Just rewatched this one with y'all! Still great reactions! The vomit scene was made more palatable (pun intended) by the vomit being cartoonishly strong. I mean, it looked like a fire hose from Davie Hogan. The question of why it received and "R" rating, I think, is because of the adult themes as well as the number of "F bombs" thrown around in the dialogue. I read somewhere the # threshold is 2 to push the rating up into the "R" category. Lots more than that in this movie.

I mean I know Sam hates vomit but I didn't think she would still have been grossed out once she saw what it was. Coz I was ready to be grossed out too but I was like oh that's just like when Corey Feldman spit water in the kid's face, except purple lol. PS: You guys should watch Toy Soldiers. It's another teen adventure movie and it has Will Wheaton in it (he played the main character as a kid).

Watched "The Goonies" once, same with the original "Bad News Bears". I guess it's the precocious child making adults look stupid that I'm not a fan of either. Which is odd, because I loved "Kindergarten Cop". But this movie is the exception. And I think you've touched on the reason why. It's a coming-of-age movie that is "serious". Serious themes, serious dialogue, etc. Not an, "Aw, isn't that cute what that kid did?" kind of movie. But then, that's to be expected with a Stephen King story, no? Terrific movie. Terrific reactions.

I watched this movie a lot when I was a kid, loved it, but now that I'm older and so many people close to me have passed, including my best friend, it just hits me differently. Still love it, just a little more emotional than I remembered haha. To be honest, while I am a horror fan, I think Stephen King's other stories like this and Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are his best, real masterpieces. Random fun fact I just recently found out, Stephen King is 6'4", not an important fact but I don't know, I was surprised by that for some reason.

Holy crap, watch that pronto. xD Put it on a poll so we can all vote for it. xD Another reactor that I subscribe to just watched it this week for the first time and it was great! :) If you wanna watch The Sandlot first though, that's aok with me.

Another Great Corey Feldman Movie is "The Burbs" from 1989 with Tom Hanks !! A Must Watch ;) Another Great Movies with the Bad Guy Kiefer Sutherland are "Flatliners" from 1990 and " A Time To Kill" from 1996 .. Both are on your Watchlist !! Another Great One is "The Lost Boys" from 1987

2022-11-20 23:06:13 +0000 UTCThis is the first time I've watched this in years, and I guess my feelings remain the same. I don't think it's a bad movie by any means, it just doesn't connect with me. I used to explore and occasionally engage in mischief as a kid, but this just isn't for me. I also will strongly recommend "The Goonies". However, speaking of Stephen King, I've started reading his novels for the first time including "Misery" and "The Running Man". "Misery" is great and Annie is even worse in the book. There's some big changes made for the movie, but they were changes that were probably necessary due to content and story pacing. The major plot points are very similar though, so it's still a excellent adaptation in my opinion. "The Running Man" is loosely, very loosely, based on the book. Besides basic premise of the game show and being set in a dystopian world, they are quite different and I wouldn't even consider it an adaption. I still love the movie cause it's pure uncut 80s Arnold with the best one liners.

Many characters are shared between them. The movie moved Castle Rock from Maine to Oregon for some reason. Rob Reiner took it as the name of his production company.

2022-11-20 21:11:38 +0000 UTCI first saw this in the 90s when I was the same age as the characters. I've lost count how many times I've seen it since. This was officially my favourite rewatch! The Stephen King story this is based on (The Body) is from a book called Different Seasons, a collection of four short novels, each one subtitled with a reference to one of the four seasons. The Body's subtitle was "Fall From Innocence." The Shawshank Redemption was another of the short novels in Different Seasons, and it was subtitled "Hope Springs Eternal." Amazing that two such iconic, incredible films came from the same book!

The mom that you recognized but couldn't remember was the mom that iced a bunch of Gremlins in the kitchen scene. Glad you guys enjoyed this one. It's an all-time fav of mine! Edit: I can't remember if this movie had an F bomb in it, but regarding the discussion about the R rating, there was a time when the F word meant an automatic R rating. Can't remember when or if that ever ended.

2022-11-20 20:26:30 +0000 UTCYou probably aren't quite aware of how good River was and could've been. Such a talented actor taken from us way too soon because of those damn drugs. The career that Leo ended up having, was the career River should've had. His other great performances are Running on Empty (Oscar Nom) and My Own Private Idaho. He also played a young Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade. Some other coming-of-age films even though they're not all about young kids: The Breakfast Club, American Graffiti, Boyz N The Hood, Dead Poets Society. The Sandlot is a popular one, the fact that baseball plays such a big part in it makes it less enjoyable for me though, but whatever.

It's the quintessential 12 year old gross out fantasy. Castor oil and a raw egg is simply Gordie's idea of what would be disgusting to eat.
