In my youth I got taken unknowingly by a girlfriend/bootycall to a swingers party lol. They had exactly that same problem. Worse than splooshing lube on your hand would be rubbing hand sanitizer on the nethers haha. Of course I wouldn't know, being the puritan that I am I left in disgust.......3 hours later...

There are nooot enough wet wipes in the world lol
Also - random bit of trivia - Jensen (who plays Soldier Boy) was talking about how they had these bottles of hand sanitizer stationed all around the Herogasm set and people kept getting them mixed up with bottles of lube lol - he said you'd hear splooshing noises and then 'AUUUGH!' lol

btw, I don't think Starlight is brushing him off. I think she genuinely doesn't understand.. They are both doing the same thing of pleaing with the other to not put themselves in danger coz they love each other, with insecurity on his side kinda making things a bit worse.
I haven't seen the whole season in a while so I don't remember what you might be referring to. Will have to wait and see. :)

Interesting take! I never took it as Starlight brushing him off, like she doesn't need him to save her, I took it as more of a plea to him that she doesn't want him putting himself in danger for her, so she doesn't need him to save her. We've watched one more episode ahead of this one, and I think my theory gains a little more traction in that episode :)

That's awesome! We haven't seen Smallville, but I know they're were a few references to it for the Reacher reactions as well with the actors!

It's also in his case a bit more amplified because he doesn't see himself as that guy. And now especially with the temp V he has the ability to become that guy.
I wrote originally a lot more but I don't want to get side tracked and talk about controversial things.. but most people just accept new things into society without thinking them through or asking questions or even researching where they came from or the effect that they have.
Not everything that's "just how things are now" "how society is now" means that it's how things should be that it's healthy and should be blindly followed.

True. It's men's evolutionary biological role. It's inbuilt into every man to protect women (and children). For hundreds of thousands of years, men were the warriors, hunters and builders, they fought off predators and opposing tribes to protect their families. They built dwellings and hunted to protect and provide for them.
Men have superior strength and speed, especially upper body strength, and are more aggressive physically for a reason.
So a few decades of 'feminism' cannot change hundreds of millennia of evolution, even if men understand the practicalities of a more powerful woman being the provider and/or protector they're not going to be cool with it as a man. It's a guy thing.

Why do we have to see Hughie's naked ass but not Starlight's?
Not fair.

The one thing I have to say about this whole Hughie thing is I don't think men are understood like at all with this whole "I don't need you to save me" ... It has nothing to do with whether a woman needs to be saved or not. In Hughie's case he wants to save her for a change, as opposed to her always saving him. He wants to 1. hold his own and not be constantly saved by her, and 2. He wants to save her, and to be completely 100% honest. Homelander could kill her in the blink of an eye. So could the congresswoman.
So the whole "uhhhh I don't need to be saved" yeah. You actually do. coz you're flirting with death with every interaction you have with any of those people, and then you're out and you go back in.
Let's be real. Bunch of men in a team or women (all men or all women).. They're not gonna be bickering over one trying to save the other "ohhh I don't need you to save me." But soon as you have a man and a woman it has to be an issue if the man wants to save the woman. They both put themselves in harm's way for the same reason. And they both are in a very dangerous situation that could get them killed.
She constantly saves him without a peep from him but every time he tries to save her and expresses that he *wants* to it's always "I don't need you I don't need you I don't need you"
It's. not. about. that.
Don't get me wrong, he IS insecure and it shows in his body language and his entire character. but that doesn't change that this whole "I can save you 500x but if you wanna save me I will never stop criticizing you for it" and it seems like it's not understood that he *wants* to do it.
And I've already said that basically IMO yeah. She actually might need to be saved because Homelander and head pop girl can kill her in the blink of an eye.

Oh and the comics was changed completely from the show because in the comics Soldier Boy was one of the laughable and weaker characters in the comics. He was a weak supe who took credit for anything and did everything he could to always be accepted. In the Herogasm comics Soldier boy went down on Homelander and had sex with him for a spot in the 7. So the show changes everything!!

the most epic episode ever!! Soldier Boy is played by Jensen Ackles who was in Smallville for season 4 and of course is who all of us die-hard fans know him as Dean Winchester of Supernatural so seeing him play this character is such a big deal to many of us because he kills it!!! This episode tho was amazing and raises the stakes big time for next 2 episodes we cant wait for!!!
