A highly underrated Edward Norton movie is Pride and Glory. Very good movie. You should check it out.

Stephanie

@Mark: Oh, no list. Sam just responded to the same request in another forum.

PIG

Uhh... Wonder Boys is a great movie. Totally forgot about it.

Rasmus Kristensen

Yup, loved Fallen too - a weird combination of crime drama and the supernatural. Hoblit cut his teeth directing episodes of Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blues and LA Law, which Primal Fear clearly benefited from. The script is terrific and Norton is mesmerizing!

Michael SCH

I also loved her in Wonder Boys, although, everyone was awesome in that.

Lük

One time at the Spirit awards John Mulaney was co-hosting and he said something like, "Hey Frances McDormand is here tonight. Ya know a fun way to commit suicide might be to cut in front of her in line at the grocery store and then turn around and say "Hey lady, relax!""

Lük

Absolutely check out Three Billboards, her finest performance in my opinion.

Your love for Frances McDormand is well-founded. You should check out 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' She always gives great performances, but that one stands out.

Steve Mercier

Where do I find the list to see what has already been suggested?

Mark M

I love "Fallen"! :)

olly.enn

I did NOT expect this reaction to contain Sam's biggest ever scream/jump scare!

Future Boy

Yes!!! I vote also for this Masterpiece !!! Great Movie !!! Great Soundtrack !!!

Florian Meier

Huh, I didn't know the Fallen (1998) guy did this as well. Fallen was an interesting one.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Might be interesting to watch some of Gregory Hoblit's other films (mostly under-rated) - Frequency, Fallen and Fracture. He tends to focus on crime stories with an interesting twist. Another crime director to watch for, is Brad Anderson, who's major claim to fame is The Machinist. But Transsiberian and The Call are interesting crime films too.

Michael SCH

Everyone knew him as Erin, even that other altar boy in the video. So Roy had been putting on an act for years, showing how totally demented and intelligent he truly was.

Frances has won 3 Best Actress Oscars—one of only two to do so. More Frances!

Michael Soukup

This was Edward Norton's first movie. This movie made him a name in Hollywood. The fact that he was an unknown made this movie far more impactful back then. That reveal at the end blew me away the first time I saw this. Edward Norton was amazing as usual. What a way to start his career.

Vwlss Nvwls

Well another great Gere role—and a cousin to this one because he plays an arrogant lawyer—is Chicago! C’mon try a musical!

Michael Soukup

my favourite Richard Gere movie An Officer and a Gentleman. must watch movie

James Bate

Frances is always a boss. If you're interested in exploring more of her best roles then I'd suggest: - Burn After Reading (2008). Coen brothers. - Three Billboards Outside... (2017). Martin McDonagh. - Blood Simple (1984). Coen brothers' first film. - Almost Famous (2000). Cameron Crowe. Beyond that, if we're talking about people whose filmographies you should check out: The McDonagh brothers are right up there!!

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Oh and Chicago is my favorite Richard Gere role. He plays a shady defense lawyer in that too. And he sings! Dunno if either of you have seen it but I highly recommend it. I was OBSESSED with that film version when it came out. I had that damn soundtrack on repeat for almost two years lol.

Donna Castellano

It was great to watch your reaction to this movie. This was the first movie I saw Edward Norton in (didn't know at the time it was his first huge role) and he's been my favorite actor ever since. Just an amazing performance. Sidebar: I know you guys - like most of the rest of us - were duped by Aaron/Roy. A while back, I watched a different reactor do this film and they called it within a few minutes of "Aaron" speaking to Martin that he was faking. This person had suffered from a stutter as a child and knew that "Aaron" was faking one. They thought for a minute maybe it was just a poor attempt on Norton's part but knew from later films he was too good of an actor to be that bad. It was just funny to see someone call his faking based on the poor stutter so early in the movie.

Donna Castellano

Thank you. That's all I have to say.

Jason Dolan

A few more Richard Gere movies worth watching : Arbitrage, The Flock, Unfaithful, An Officer and a Gentleman

Ed R

I remember being totally mesmerized by Ed Norton in that movie

Yann Laliberté

You done messed up A-A Ron!

Love marge! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

On our list! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha right?! Not sure how I haven’t seen it! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Blood Simple also trying to get on the schedule before the end of the year! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thanks for the recommendations! I think we should do a romance poll soon! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Nope! Only 3 movies a month from the polls, the rest from your recommendations and Midnight Run seems to be one we need to get to! Trying to get it on the schedule before the end of the year 😊 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I know!! I just watched Erin Brockovich on a plane for the first time and Omg I was bawling! So good! I need to see it! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

❤️❤️❤️ -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Well if you love Marge you need to hang out with the Coen Bro. Not only is she in so many of their movies she married one of them.

softshoes

I second 'Blood Simple' for more Frances, but also 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' if you haven't seen it yet! 3 Billboards won a lot of Oscars including her win for 'Best Actress'.

alexray

Sam hasn't seen Pretty Woman?! F the polls, move it to #1.

Ellie Miller

This would never win a poll but Blood Simple is pretty great. Was Frances McDormand and the Coen bros breakthrough film. Great crime thriller with many twists.

Birdie Num Num

An Officer and a Gentleman and American Gigolo are essential Richard Gere films, films that made him a star. Re the former - don't think you've reviewed many Romance films(or had a poll).

Birdie Num Num

interesting, I thought you only reviewed poll winners. guess that helps Midnight Run's chances(since it never wins polls)

Birdie Num Num

Sam you have to watch Pretty Woman ;) You will love Julia Roberts and Richard Gere !! :)

Florian Meier

Just saw that it's already on your list :) Thanks Sam!

PIG

Recommending American History X again, with Edward Norton. It’s one of those transformable roles you don’t forget like in Primal Fear.

PIG
