Comments

Forget all those other movies, Raising Arizona is by far the best movie on this list

Mike keith

Recently showed my girlfriend both "Fast Times" and "Caddyshack" since they're iconic 80s films she hadn't seen. She loved them both but "Fast Times" was by far her favorite. It's also iconic and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Mike the Ginger

they should see The Bad News Bears so they can get a taste of peak Walter Matthau

Ken Veader

My favorite DeNiro film

Ken Veader

I love Major League, but there are so many much better films in this list, it's too bad Major League seems like it will win this poll.

Vwlss Nvwls

Major League and Moneyball. Is it baseball season! :)

Will D

I agree with that one along with The Odd Couple (1968) and The Out-of-Towners (1970). Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau movies are so good!

Scott Kerr

Slap Shot is def one of the best

ron clint

Slap Shot

Ed R

I’m going to suggest ‘Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story’ because I can’t think of another reactor that would not only watch it but have a few laughs along the way🤣.

Mark M

I'm not a fan of the movie, but Spicoli is still one of the most fascinating performances I've ever seen.

Erwin Quiachon

Ahhh, the scene of Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool....

if all else fails: https://youtu.be/jvmcWPeQwIc

Guston Zimasheen

As Good As It Gets (1997) needs a shot at the title

YoureMrLebowski

I saw Parenthood and don't remember Keanu or Joaquin at all! but being older, that tends to happen 🙂

YoureMrLebowski

As Good As It Gets (1997), great film 👍🏼

YoureMrLebowski

I also support Grumpy Old Men and the sequel Grumpier Old Men

Jonathan Patrick

Midnight Run (1988) is a favorite. I love Charles Grodin. watch your cigarettes Jack.

YoureMrLebowski

Crocodile Dundee, yes!

Future Boy

Both are Great!!!

Florian Meier

Someone already mentioned it but totally As Good As It Gets (1997) and maybe Knives Out (2019) if you guys have not yet watched it!

Domino

If you haven't seen them, I cannot recommend these three enough I Love You, Man Chef Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

kbobravo

The Hudsucker Proxy and O Brother, Where Art Thou? are my favorites. I generally don't care for a lot of their filmography, but I can appreciate the work they put into their movies.

Donna Castellano

I don't dislike it, but it is far down the Coen's filmography for me. Will never understand why it gets praised the way it does.

kbobravo

I gotta be the only person who doesn't like Raising Arizona.

Donna Castellano

I second Grumpy Old Men and the sequel.

Drzergberg

Oh wow, some good ones on here! Sad to see Hudsucker getting killed by Arizona, though :(

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

I'd like to recommend Grumpy Old Men, Sister Act, and Three Men and a Baby for comedies. All three have sequels, and in all cases, while the originals are wonderful, in my opinion, the sequels are even better. All six are super funny, laugh out loud feel good movies I think you guys would love.

Raven Dark

So many great choices this time round. Decisions, decisions...

Guston Zimasheen

"Midnight Run" (1988) A Robert Deniro action/comedy.

Mr. Writhms

The Nice Guys (2016) is a great comedy.

YoureMrLebowski

I see 6 or 7 essential movies here. I went with "This Is Spinal Tap," but I could just as easily picked a few others.

Michael Buhl

Coen!!! Raising Arizona and/or Hudsucker

Michael Soukup

Uncle Buck all day, everyday!

Michael Chavira

Dazed & Confused is my favorite film of all time.

David Crabtree

I would also suggest, "Freebie and the Bean" (1974). One of the forerunners, if not the original, of the "buddy cop" movies. Stars the late, great James Caan and Alan Arkin.

Miles E Coburn

Amazing I haven't seen it reacted to anywhere. A classic.

Jonathan Patrick

If I remember right, you guys were considering a "Golden Age of Hollywood" deep dive. And that brings to mind several must watch, classic comedies. Among many others I recommend: THE GREAT RACE 1965. IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD 1963. And THE ODD COUPLE 1968.

Gerald Corona

A Great Comedy Movie is "As Good As It Gets" from 1997 with Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear !!! Oscar Performance from Nicholson !!! And "Space Cowboys" from 2000 with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones and Donald Sutherland

Florian Meier

Your comment brings to mind one of the all time slapstick comedy classics. IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD 1963. "A comedy to end all comedies." It give a whole new meaning to the phrase Stacked Cast!

Gerald Corona

Yes!! Crocodile Dundee !!!

Florian Meier

"The official story is he choked on vomit." "Although they couldn't actually prove whose vomit it was." "Can't really dust for vomit."

mikethemotormouth

Parenthood (Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, Dianne Weist, Keanu Reeves, Joaquin Phoenix) The Hangover Maverick (1993)

Rudy Hernandez

Nice, The Hudsucker Proxy made the list, another great Coen brother film. You two have to watch this one because, you know, 'for the kids'.

Allister Fiend

I’m going to encourage you to go back a few more years: 1972’s “What’s Up, Doc?” starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal, directed by Peter Bogdanovich. It’s the director’s homage to the great screwball comedies of the 1930s and ‘40s—fast-paced (and witty) dialogue, unlikely coincidences, slapstick comedy, etc. Definitely worth a watch.

Bob Bittner

The Great Outdoors

Tee Grant

All of these are good

Smooticus

Agreed!

Smooticus

Raising Arizona! Just do the Coen Bros deep dive!!

Byron Easley

Analyze This & Analyze That! 🙃

Tristan Durant

Analyze This! 😎 And I'd like to recommend.. 9 Months (1995) Hugh Grant and Robin Williams. Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) (mobster comedy), w Hugh Grant and the now late James Cann. Love, Actually (2003) w Hugh Grant Jerry Maguire (1996) Tom Cruise Crocodile Dundee (1986)

Jonathan Patrick

Full monty - absolute classic British comedy 👌
