Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

You ended prematurely. You guys missed the credits where Mr. Rooney took a ride on a school bus and Ferris has commentary at the end

Lana Gorgeous

LOL I'm glad I'm not alone! I thought I was going to get roasted -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thanks, Jay! And thanks for sharing this, very interesting! I think this is a great theory and I'd have to agree! Things absolutely changed for her after her interaction with Sheen. -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We didn't realize until after! So funny -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thanks for the recommendation, Tyler! -Sam

Someone might've mentioned this on YouTube, but for Sam, you should consider doing a reaction to the scathing high school satire Election. It stars Matthew Broderick, and many have joked that this would be the reality for Ferris Bueller after he's out of high school. Reasonably popular, but probably (as so many great movies) not a poll winner.

Tyler Foster

Alan Ruck (Cameron) also played the tourist on the bus in Speed.

Jen Barnes

You guys missed Mr. Rooney riding home on a school bus 😂 And Mia Sara still makes my heart go pitter-pat 😍

What you're calling "smug" in that scene is her thinking about how she's going to help Ferris. Her attitude had changed by then and that was part of her arc. If by the end of the movie, Jeanie's attitude toward Ferris had not changed, then her entire character would be pointless.

Jay Robert

That's an interesting POV on why Jeannie covered for Ferris. I always thought it was because she didn't want Rooney to hold Ferris back, thus she'd have to have yet another year - her senior year, at that - with Ferris overshadowing her. She was pretty smug when she was listening to Rooney get on Ferris's ass until he mentioned holding him back a year.

Parker Lewis was great. I own all three seasons on DVD. I think that show succeeded when Ferris failed because no one from the FBDO film reprised their role on the show. That's what people liked about it - the cast and the writing. The A League of Their Own TV series they tried in the 90s failed for the same reasons. People like those characters with those actors. Only time I've seen a show off a movie be hugely successful is Stargate SG-1. While Michael Shanks imitated James Spader great the first season or two, he developed him and made him his own. Richard Dean Anderson made O'Neill his own from the start. But his version was too fun and charming to dislike. Then they had a cast of all new characters supporting them. So it was familiar enough but added just the right amount early on.

NBC released a t.v. series about Ferris Bueller in the early 90s, but it only lasted one season. At the same time Fox released a series called Parker Lewis Can't Lose, that was based on a Ferris Bueller type character, and that series was a hit that lasted 3 seasons.

There was a SKA band in the 90s named Save Ferris. They were really good too.

My mother and I rented this on video the summer I graduated high school. I always loved it, but my mother hated how Ferris treated his friend. I think some of that might be because I looked almost exactly like Cameron Fry back then. :D They never specify ages of Ferris or his sister. I always assumed they were the same age, twins.

Vwlss Nvwls

Agreed, Donna!

Greetings, TBR, Samantha! Love your content! What I wanted to say here is that there's something a lot of people miss in this movie. When Jeannie and Charlie Sheen are on the couch together at the police station, that was their "breakfast club" moment. Notice how it started hostile for Jeannie but they ended up making out afterward (kind of a Taming of The Shrew thing)? Sheen even had a line modeled after a line that the principal in The Breakfast Club said to John. "You oughta spend a more time doing X and a little less time worrying about Y." Anyway, that was the conclusion of Jeannie's arc in this story. She was all tense, pent-up, angry but then had a moment of release with Sheen which loosened her up and THAT'S ultimately why she covered for Ferris at the end. I'd like to know what you think! J.

Jay Robert

Yes! I agree WARGAMES should be the next Broderick film. Then whichever ones are watched, they have GOT to include ELECTION (1999) Which has the plot I always thought would be a perfect sequel to FBDO. Where Ferris is an adult now and a precocious, smart ass teen is running circles around him! Though ELECTION has nothing to do with Ferris Bueller, I consider it a sequel in spirit only and the closest thing there is to my own idea.

Gerald Corona

The Ready Player One movie failed the moment it didn't include the Wargames scenes.

Erich Bomke

I used to like this one a lot as a kid, but as I watch it as an adult, I'm like Sam: "Ferris is a little shit.". 🤣🤣. I'm more on Cameron's and Jeannie's sides as an adult.

Donna Castellano

I haven't seen this since I was kid in the 80s. Have to admit, it's nowhere as good as Breakfast Club. I guess it just didn't grow with me. I'm glad you guys watched it and it was interesting watching it again after all these years, but I just couldn't finish it. EDIT: Others mentioned Wargames. I think that's better too.

PIG

‘Rooney Eats It’ bus scene and Ferris telling the movie theatre audience to go home is classic🤣

Mark M

Now that y'all have watched this classic flick and opened yourselves to the world of Matthew Broderick you really need to watch WARGAMES.

PUMP UP THE VOLUME is amazing. Sort of forgotten but still relevant.

Philip Davetas

Rewatching films I love with great reactors really is the second best thing to watching them for the first time. That was great! I love the high school genre. For no good reason, here are my top 5: 1. Pump up the Volume 2. Heathers 3. Ferris Bueller's Day Off 4. Carrie 5. The Breakfast Club Yes, I'm a Christian Slater fan...

Future Boy

I've always took umbridge with this movie because I've always considered Ferris Bueller to be a sociopath. And I watched this reaction because I was curious about your guys' take on it and you guys nailed it. Yeah, there are no consequences for Ferris and he destroys the people around him and he gets to get away with everything. In a way, he's a bit of a Marvel villain. I'm not the biggest John Hughes fan as a writer because he ignores class, but as a director I really like him.

Philip Davetas

I betcha never smelled a real school bus before.

Jason Mangen

Looks like you missed Rooney’s walk of shame down the bus aisle.

Jason Mangen

I like the theory that Cameron grows up to by Tyler Durden after Ferris breaks his psyche here.

Joseph Tamburo

Wow, you didn't even finish watching the movie? That's a first!

Jason Dolan

I hope you guys didn't forget the post credits scene!

Jason Dolan

That sounds like TOP FUN!

Jason Dolan

Maybe if they wait until Maverick hits streaming they could do them both in one epic Top Gun Week!

Future Boy

There is a theory that this whole movie is Cameron's dream and there really is no Ferris. He's dreaming of what his life could be like if his parents didn't repress him. The more I thought about it the more I could go for this thought. I mean the donation gathering, singing on a parade float how could any real kid lead a life like this.

softshoes

My favorite of the John Hughes teen movies. Back in high school, I used to have movie posters in my bedroom and this was one of them. Never gets old.

Jeff Mills

Good news is, I've see a LOT of TOP GUN reactions on YouTube so maybe they've lightened up, and speaking ot TOP GUN, when we getting that reaction? Even if it is a Patreon Exclusive, I need to watch TOP GUN and TOP GUN MAVERICK with yous guys.

Jason Dolan

Literally! Scary every time we see that intro 😳 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Aww feel better, Donna! ❤️ -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Maybe you should just have a SEPARATE YouTube channel for your Paramount Reactions.

Jason Dolan

Thank you for both movie uploads. Been sick all weekend and now I can watch a couple of movies with "friends". 😁
