I'll also throw out the TV miniseries "V" from 1983.
Shane Wood
2022-03-23 02:20:12 +0000 UTCI suggest The Secret of NIMH from 1982, Ice Pirates from 1984, and Beastmaster (fantasy, not sci-fi) from 1982.

2022-03-23 01:56:52 +0000 UTCBrazil is never going to win, but it ought to.

2022-03-20 21:03:44 +0000 UTCOh, yeah. Logans Run is one of the great 70's scifi dystopia classics. The three must-sees are Rollerball, Soylent Green and Logan's Run.
Neal Romanek
2022-03-20 21:02:16 +0000 UTChappy to see Minority Report in the lead!

2022-03-17 14:22:26 +0000 UTCI haven't seen Interstellar on any of your scifi lists. I'm assuming you've seen it?
Neal Romanek
2022-03-17 13:57:48 +0000 UTCYes! Children Of Men! Does that count as sci-fi? That should definitely be on the list.
Neal Romanek
2022-03-17 13:56:26 +0000 UTCGoin Dark City for William Hurt!!! RIP!!
MIke
2022-03-17 09:33:36 +0000 UTCPersonally I love the original intro since I saw this in theaters but I completely understand why the director and fans want the cut. I still think that even with the original you’re clueless on what the hell is happening.
PIG
2022-03-17 02:08:14 +0000 UTCAll of these are great but Body Snatchers has one of the best endings ever and Jeff Goldblum!!!!!! C’mon now!👍
Jim Tatro
2022-03-17 01:58:14 +0000 UTCYou have to watch Dark City Directors cut. The original basically tells the story with an opening monologue that the director did not want in the movie.
Drzergberg
2022-03-17 01:46:23 +0000 UTCI think the Burton version had potential. I liked a lot of elements and performances. Wahlberg was not right for that lead. Estella Warren at her hottest but, man, she had nothing to work with.
Donna Castellano
2022-03-17 01:06:54 +0000 UTCShan Watches Movies and James Vs Cinema reacted to it. I saw Shan's full length and if was so fun to watch him discover that film.
Donna Castellano
2022-03-17 01:05:22 +0000 UTCOh man. Please eventually watch Gattaca. I love seeing reactors get blown away by such a sleeper film. Shan Watches Movies made me happy when he said it was a near perfect movie.
Donna Castellano
2022-03-17 01:04:16 +0000 UTCheh. If they do watch one I would prefer it was the original, FWIW.
Alex
2022-03-17 00:15:35 +0000 UTCdirectors cut is better
windyWin
2022-03-16 23:52:25 +0000 UTCI say this in a friendly manner: you're the first person I've come into contact with that believes the Burton PotA is good.
Mitchell Smilie
2022-03-16 23:21:22 +0000 UTCEdge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise is fantastic. Also Dark City has a directors cut which I what I have, not sure which is better lol.
Andrew Roach
2022-03-16 20:18:59 +0000 UTCChildren of Men needs to be on this list. It's the best Sci-fi movie in the last 20 years. I voted for Brazil since it's so freaking weird I'd love to see how you react to it.
Drzergberg
2022-03-16 19:23:21 +0000 UTCHer (2013) I will never stop recommending it! 😝 Also... Inception (2010) Interstellar (2014) Donnie Darko (2001) The Fifth Element (1997) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) It also counts as a comedy though.
Domino
2022-03-16 19:08:27 +0000 UTCI would suggest Equilibrium (2002) to the list. A very underrated film.
Jay
2022-03-16 18:41:20 +0000 UTCi agree both Dark City and Gattaca are where its at!

2022-03-16 18:13:10 +0000 UTCall good suggestions!
MIke
2022-03-16 18:12:33 +0000 UTCDark City is amazing (i have it on DVD lul and absolutely love it) but I voted for Gattaca because it almost never gets the love and discourse it deserves. Not that Dark City does either but there was some talk about The Matrix maybe taking some 'inspiration' from it, IIRC. So it got some love. But Gattaca almost never gets brought up, which is sad. Because it really is a great film.

2022-03-16 16:34:53 +0000 UTCInvasion of the Body Snatchers and Planet of the Apes are must watches win/lose.. The remake with Mark Wahlberg is also good.
Alex
2022-03-16 16:29:02 +0000 UTCWatching you react to the original Planet of the Apes would be amazing!
TGrimace
2022-03-16 16:27:11 +0000 UTCAlso want to see A Scanner Darkly added to this poll sometime, another Philip K. Dick adaptation.
mikethemotormouth
2022-03-16 16:07:43 +0000 UTCThat's the one I voted for. And totally agreed, every one of these deserves a watch. Also want to see Stargate added to this poll sometime. And A Scanner Darkly, another Philip K. Dick adaptation.

2022-03-16 16:02:26 +0000 UTCDark City is awesome. Minority report is okay... Be a better short story.
iliketostayhome
2022-03-16 15:36:30 +0000 UTCMinority Report is so good. One of my favorite Sci-Fi films of the 21st century along with Arrival, Children of Men and Inception.
BD Williams
2022-03-16 14:12:00 +0000 UTCPhillip K. Dick and Steven Spielberg? Yes, please. Err... that's "Minority Report". 😁
Mr. Writhms
2022-03-16 13:59:55 +0000 UTCI'm stuck between two movies for my vote! Both Gattaca and Planet of the Apes are films that I'd love to watch a reaction to but I can only vote for one. Bummer dude!
Logan Kerlee
2022-03-16 13:43:02 +0000 UTCWhich one was it? There are four that I haven't seen - Brazil, Cube, Dark City and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Logan Kerlee
2022-03-16 13:40:30 +0000 UTC"Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978) is a terrific movie. As is the original from 1956. My preference from the list, though, is the original "Planet of the Apes", from 1968.
Miles E Coburn
2022-03-16 13:30:53 +0000 UTCI voted for Dark City. Note: there are two editions available. I personally prefer the theatrical version, but you should have seen both.
Marcus Laubner
2022-03-16 13:26:24 +0000 UTCC'mon GATTACA!
Dan
2022-03-16 13:23:45 +0000 UTCYou won't go wrong with any of these, all good movies imo. Cube is a cult classic and one of my personal favorites.

2022-03-16 13:07:53 +0000 UTCI have only seen ONE of these movies...so..I'm game for any of them!
