Action Movie Poll!

Help pick the Action movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Bad Boys, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.

*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

Are you guys watching Speed or Fugitive next?? Please be Speed!!! Its the perfect 90s action film!!! It will not disappoint!!!

Demos Samolis

Speed is forgettable

Gino Padula

You guys need to watch Speed!!!! Please let Speed win and once your ready for martial arts action you need to watch Bloodsport since you guys are now doing Cobra Kai!!! Woohoo!!!

Demos Samolis

For Summer 2022, "The Rocketeer" and/or "Dick Tracy". As I was a late teen/young adult in the early 90s, both were from Disney's adult division, Touchstone, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on those films in 2002. Take care, guys & #StaySafeStayHealthy!

Cody Downs

He'll yes on Young Guns. Also Young Guns 2.

Jonathan Patrick

You guys should watch โ€œThe Rockโ€ from 1996

JayDee AhBooWan

I suggest Top Gun from 1986, Lethal Weapon from 1987, and Young Guns from 1988.

Shane Wood

Yes !!! Both are Great choices !! Love J.T. Walsh in Breakdown

Florian Meier

All of these are real good, but if you're looking to be on the edge of your seat, then Speed.

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

If they want a really good DeNiro action movie, I recommend Ronin (1998). Outstanding car chase in that movie!

Scott Kerr

I'm glad you didn't finish that part.

Scott Kerr

Breakdown (1997) with Kurt Russell is good. I also recommend Face/off (1997) with Nicolas Cage.

Scott Kerr

Since The Fugitive and Speed are so close in the polls, I recommend both of them if possible.

Scott Kerr

Air Force One (1997) also a great 90s action movie.

Stephen King

The Bourne Identity (2002)

christopher brown

Man On Fire... YES!!!!

Tim R

such a classic. I think it would do much better on a comedy poll. Regardless, I hope they choose it as their next DeNiro film

Ken Veader

Fun Fact: Midnight Run was the first Robert De Niro movie I ever saw. I was 14 I think.

Jason Dolan

I would probably consider Midnight Run more comedy than action. Genuinely my favorite Deniro film

Ken Veader

More suggestions for stand-alone action films for future polls: Man on Fire (2004), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), 48 Hours (1982). Also, while someone already suggested a DeNiro poll (which is a brilliant idea), I think a Denzel Washington poll would also be in order, as he has several spectacular action films I think you guys would enjoy.

Steven Montano

I keep forgetting that these are movies that they've never watched before. While I'd really enjoy the reaction for The Fugitive, Speed is one that I feel they'd enjoy more.

Logan Kerlee

I hope Speed wins as well. You guys gotta see that one.

Raven Dark

As one of the very few people who found The Fugitive a bit overrated, I hope Speed wins ;D

Steven Montano

TBR Schmitt

The French Connection is a superb movie - a classic - but it's less action, more crime thriller, with one especially famous and brilliant action sequence.

Neal Romanek

De Niro being absolutely hilarious.

Neal Romanek

Fugitive is a classic

Aaron Barlow

Ronin made me love action flicks.

PIG

Bed boys, bed boys whatcha gonna do.

Mark M

I think I watched Attack of the Bed Boys. It wasn't great lol.

Mark M

Midnight Run is a great movie, but itโ€™s more of a comedy than a action movie. I would put that one and Ronin part of a DeNiro series like you guys did with Sly and Arnold.

Jim Tatro

I'm just gonna say it: Speed beating Ronin 6x+ is just silly. Y'all silly! :S

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Might as well watch both haha. They're both great movies.

Jay

Speed and Fugitive are both great. I would vote for both if I could, picked Fugitive because fewer reactions exist to it on Your Tube.

Stephen King

Don't forget about Unbreakable. Amazing Bruce Willis movie

TGrimace

100% agreed. "Pop quiz. Both Speed and The Fugitive won the poll. WHAT DO YOU DO!"

Alex

Dr.no and all other 24 James Bond 007 movies

James Bate

Midnight Run is almost more of a comedy, but I'm excited to see it on the list. Since you guys will eventually wrap up Stallone you should move onto Willis -- Last Man Standing, The Last Boyscout and Tears of the Sun are all terrific action films!

Steven Montano

I concur with Midnight Run. Only watched it last year for the first time since it was on the Rewatchables podcast. Great film.

Drzergberg

The Raid is one of the best action films. Lesser known action movie, From Paris with Love is very fun to watch.

Drzergberg

Domino (2005) Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) Casino Royale (2006) and all of the other James Bond films with Daniel Craig, for that matter!

Domino

Midnight Run should probably be in a comedy poll from now on. It's got little chance of winning in an action poll. It's definitely one of De Niro's more impressive roles. At that time, people weren't sure that he could do comedy, but he nails this role. One of the reasons why I rank him above Pacino. He could do this role, Pacino couldn't, imo.

Shehab Dawoud

I would just say that, imo, The French Connection is a classic movie that is likely to be remembered longer than Speed or The Fugitive. They are all good movies, but The Fugitive and Speed didn't change cinema. Cop movies were never the same after The French Connection, plus it's based on a true story (well...I guess so is the Fugitive, though more loosely) of a drug bust where the cops seized 32 million pounds of heroin. and the cope involved were technical advisors on the film.

Kurt Yost

I think speed has more action than the fugitive, i would of thought the fugitive is more a drama. Maybe not, they are both suspenseful for sure!!

MIke

better than island boyz!!!

MIke

HAHAHAH

TBR Schmitt

LMAO clearly it was too early when I scheduled these polls! Attack and Bed Boys ;) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I didn't know there was an original Bad Boys! Google failed me -Sam

TBR Schmitt

You guys are killing me with these Bed Boys comments!!! hahaha! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I cant believe Ronin has so few votes. Hopefully you two will get to it someday because it's arguably the best actual film on the list.

JayWantsACat

HAHAHAA! Oops! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I already saw Bed Boys on Showtime after dark ๐Ÿคฃ jk

Jonathan Patrick

With all the reviving of sequels these days, Keanu and Bullock could totally make a great sequel today with the right writer and director. Bigger and badder. Id watch it.

Jonathan Patrick

You should watch Speed AND The Fugitive, no question.

Jen Barnes

Timecop is really good. And yea speed was like my favorite movie. I got a Casio G-Shock watch coz of that movie :)

Alex

The Fugitive and Speed are the best movies on this list.. Speed is iconic for me with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Also The Net with Sandra Bullock is really good as well.

Alex

Alternatively, if you don't want to do two of the polls based on the split in the same month, you could alternate between classic and contemporary every time you do a genre (and mix it up so that one genre you're tackling in a month is classic and another genre you're tackling is contemporary).

Tyler Foster

I might have already suggested this, but please consider splitting the polls between pre- and post-1980s in the future so that older movies actually have a chance of winning. It would mean you put up fewer polls in a month, because for example there would be two action polls, but otherwise I don't think movies like The French Connection are ever going to win, and not because The Fugitive or Speed is a better movie than The French Connection, or that they're even being compared at all, but simply because more people that are voting have seen The Fugitive and Speed than The French Connection.

Tyler Foster

Action movie Recommendations: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, The Rock, Face/Off, Con Air, Armageddon

David Crabtree

@Scooticus It's most likely so.

Mr. Writhms

Wow, Midnight Run should be way at the top somewhere. Deniros and Grodins chemistry are amazing. Funny as hell, wonderful script and acting. Other great overlooked action films, Timecop (Van Damme), Blown Away (1994 Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones), I actually preffered Blown Away over Speed, it got overlooked bc Speed had come out a few months before.

Jonathan Patrick

I voted for Midnight Run because its great and I don't think I've seen it on a poll before this one. If it doesn't win this time maybe it will make its way back to you if you decide to do a DeNiro filmography like you've done with Schwarzenegger and Stallone. You've already watched a good chunk of DeNiro movies which is great!

Mark M

Crazy, I just suggested Midnight Run in the comedy poll. It should be higher.

Jonathan Patrick

The Fugitive but it's a damn shame Midnight Run and Ronin aren't up there. Midnight Run's phenomenal buddy-cop movie with action and a lot of humor and great acting from De Niro and Charles Grodin. Ronin's also an action pack movie with an all star international list lead by once again De Niro but without the comedy. This is much more intense, serious underrated film with one of the best, if not the best car chases in cinema.

Joe Lazarus

Sometimes i wonder if the lower scoring movies are because a lot of members/viewers haven't seen them either

Smooticus

Agree on Midnight Run.

Smooticus

Some good choices again.

Smooticus

Of course, The Fugitive, but I think people are sleeping on Midnight Run. One of the great action/comedies ever made and dare I say it...top tier DeNiro.

BD Williams

"Midnight Run" is more comedy than action. And it's a great one. It's a shame it's ignored.๐Ÿ˜ฃ How about a couple of weeks in a year, you post reactions to movies on a "least votes" list? ๐Ÿ˜

Mr. Writhms

From this list my 1 and 2 would be "Speed" and "The Fugitive". Although, "The Fugitive" is more suspense / thriller than action.

Miles E Coburn

Bed Boys (1995), huh? While that may, in some sense, qualify as an "action" flick, I'm not entirely sure that it's appropriate for the channel ;) edit: Does this have anything to do with Dan's ball-twisting fetish?! ;)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Have to agree. It is sad that the James Bond series isn't the best spy movie franchise these days. The last 3 (or 4) James Bond films wish they were HALF as good as the last three Mission: Impossible movies. The first three aren't bad, either.

Mike LL

I think "ASSAULT on Precinct 13" would have won if the first word was right, so let's just watch that one anyway! Just kidding...But I do love it, and it may be my favourite John Carpenter film. I think you'd love it as long as you went in expecting a B movie. Since it has no chance, I'll have to go for The Fugitive. I think it will make for a great reaction.

Future Boy

Hoping the Mission Impossible series will appear at some point if you haven't seen it. The first 3 are not that great but the last 3 are phenomenal. The pinnacle of the action genre imo.

Shehab Dawoud

SPEED and The Fugitive.... should be 1-2. Great picks!

AC Malin

I was hoping it was the original Bad Boys with Sean Penn. 1983.
