Rocky III (1982) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Rocky III (1982) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Agreed 4 will be epic.

Richard Flanagan

I'm always kind of shocked when I watch this movie how affected I am by Mickey's death and Sly's performance in that scene. Obviously, any moment with Carl Weathers is an immediate 10 because he's a damn national treasure. Aside from those two things, I do think this movie starts the downward spiral that they don't really get back until Rocky Balboa (hints of it) and then a full return with Creed, but it's still an exciting ride to go on with you guys. Great reaction, always a blast to work through the series with the two of you. Keep it up!

Gary Giaimo

This was amazing to react with you guys, can't wait for rocky four!

Clubber Lang had motivation. He was ranked nr 1, and the nr 1 contender. But as you guy's know mickie avoided killers like Clubber and handpicked easier opponents for Rocky instead. And as a Nr 1 contender not getting your shot at the title when you are "entitled" to it would be frustrating. So we can see where his frustration comes from. But obove that he was a nasty one. I think Clubbers down fall was that he underestimated Rocky way to much. I don't even think he trained that much for the rematch πŸ˜‚ Clubber Lang was a great character a real Super-villain that everyone absolutely hated. I swear i still Cheer when i see Clubber Lang getting knocked out!

Interplanetary species

Awesome reaction loved this one sad to see mick dieing glad Apollo trained him

Alfredo Ordonez

So, like everyone else you're not fans of Clubber, and rightly so. But there is something sympathetic about his situation. He was beating the brakes off everyone in front of him and still wasn't getting a title shot. Meanwhile Rocky was getting fat and happy while fighting inferior guys. During the statue unveiling, he put it down to politics, you can understand why a black man from the slums of Chicago would feel like that Mr. T did a great job, especially considering what a great guy he is in real life and he hadn't really acted before that. He was working as a doorman and bodyguard at the time

Shehab Dawoud

The city moved the statue from the steps (it's the Philadelphia Museum of Art) not long after the movie finished shooting because the people who ran the museum didn't think it was "worthy" of being there with actual fine art. However, a few years later the city moved it back to its location at the museum because of public demand, and the fact that it had become so iconic.

The One True Chris

These damn movies are so good! Paulie (Pauly?) is in 4 but for me somewhat less annoying. It's not a boxing movie but as a fan of classic boxing, Sylvester Stallone the writer, liked to draw a lot from real boxing, he kind of recreated the "Rumble in the Jungle", Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman. It's called the Rope a Dope, basically making the other guy gas himself out. For a real fascinating explanation I highly recommend "When We Were Kings", not for the channel because you couldn't because of copyright etc., it's a super well made and entertaining documentary about that fight, with an AWESOME soundtrack, but because it was both a huge fight AND a huge concert as well, with James Brown headlining, a ton of other musicians, there's a lot of great music you couldn't include.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Can't WAIT for you guys to get to Rocky IV. And there literally hasn't been a better/more relevant time in the last 30+ years to watch it.

Eric Denney

Oh btw, Totally random, but you guys HAVE to do Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie with Corey Feldman from 1990. There are two sequels as well.

First I have ever seen my name listed on a Patreon! Nice!

I forgot, during the fight with Hulk Hogan I didn't remember whether it was supposed to be real or not but I just couldn't help but laugh through this whole scene but then to see TBR and Sam taking it so seriously made me laugh even more lol

Alex

Yeah i remember seeing the rocky statue in a couple movies, like Trading Places, which by the way i recommend for a comedy if you haven't see it! but the statue is shown in the intro since the setting is in philly.

MIke

Thumbs waaay up for another boxing classic mentioned here: MILLION DOLLAR BABY

ron clint

#4 has a director's cut that Stallone recently released. While it may be a bit better objectively, it's hard to beat the nostalgia of the original. Plus, I like robots.

Mike Adams

The Death Scene of Mickey is Heartbreaking ... After The Rocky Series you have to watch "Million Dollar Baby" Great Movie with Clint Eastwood

Florian Meier

I didn't remember anything about this movie. It was crazy good to see Rocky's fight here. By the way, that statue is a real statue that they put up in Philadelphia in Rocky's honor in real life. I believe it was put up at the top of the steps that he runs up in the movies when training but later on was moved across town to another location.

Alex

Mr. T. took his Mom to the premiere of this movie. She walked out during the movie because she hated the character Clubber Lang. She told him, "I didn't raise you to act like this!" He tried to tell her that he was acting and playing a character, but she wouldn't listen. I always thought that was a cute and funny story. That "Rocky" statue is REAL. It was made for the movie and was at the Philadelphia Art Museum (the steps) for a few years, then it moved to The Spectrum (a local sports arena) for a few more years. After the Spectrum was torn down, the statue was moved back to the Art Museum (but on the side of the museum and not at the steps) where it still resides.

Joe Lazarus

Rocky 3 served as breakout roles for both Mr. T and Hulk Hogan. Mr. T would use this role to catapult to stardom with the A-Team TV series. And this basically is what Jumpstarted Hulkamania, helping make Hulk Hogan a household name.

David Crabtree

I have always loved the ending of this one, right before their punches connect. And I love Apollo's "ding ding" for the bell ring. I saw this in the theater when it released, as a kid, and for weeks before I was so excited to go see it.

Vwlss Nvwls

So awesome! Hope we're all ready for the VERY 80s Rocky IV. Stallone said Rocky III reflected his own life of becoming extremely famous and maybe losing himself in it and who he really was. Sam rules!

Ellie Miller

The statue of Rocky is real and has been moved around over the years. For a while it stood in front of The Spectrum, former home of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers. About 15 years ago it was returned to the grounds of the Art Museum and is still there today. Ifyou ever come here to Philadelphia make sure you take a run up the Art Museum steps. Even though it's corny, it's still a lot of fun. I've done it myself a few times over the years. They even have Rocky tours where they take you around to all the different filming locations (but I think it's more fun to discover all that for yourself).

Mike Tocci

Sylvester Stallone is actually a year and a half older than Carl Weathers. When they filmed Rocky 3 in 1982, Sly was 35 and Carl Weathers was 34.

David Crabtree

Paulie is Rocky's brother in law so he's family, that's important to remember. Sam, do you have any brothers like Pauly that Dan has to deal with? Lol

Jason Dolan

Mickey's joke when Rocky asks how much he thinks Thunderlips eats is my favorite line of the movie. :D

Wow so early! Prediction? Pleasure!
