2022-03-14 17:54:20 +0000 UTCI'm enjoying watching this show again with you two, it's so refreshing to watch people react to it that have such a great understanding of the events of the Karate Kid, and that you use that to try to predict what's going to happen next as well as catching Easter eggs, I love it! Can't wait for episodes 9 and 10.

2022-03-10 20:25:42 +0000 UTCThis is probably going to sound funny, but a few years ago I made a sports analogy to Daniel and Johnny. If you're a basketball fan, you know about the Magic vs Bird rivalry. Those two guys were bitter rivals who hated each other on the court, polar opposites. One was from Los Angeles, Hollywood, Showtime. The other was from French Lick, Indiana, Boston, Blue-Collar. Yet both of those guys were two sides of the same coin and fierce, intense competitors who respected each other. I see Daniel and Johnny the same way. They are different, but same, as Mr. Miyagi would have said. And, as we are finding out, Johnny's background was not as privileged as we would have thought. The difference is that Daniel had Miyagi, Johnny had Kreese, and we all know how that went. I really think that this series is about fathers or father figures. It's a recurring theme throughout this season.

It's really hard to talk about as someone who's seen the entire series and I'm sure you have too, though I could be wrong about that. I kind of have my hypothesis of why they hate Sam but can't really talk about it because it involves things that haven't happened yet for TBR and the other Sam heh. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the actual show. Just people see what they want to see in characters whether it's there or not.

2022-03-08 03:59:17 +0000 UTCAgain, thank you both for understanding Samantha's side of the story. Its ridiculous the nonsense I read in this Fandom from people who make up any excuse to hate her. Is she flawed? Yes. But she's also a teen who just went through that shit with Kyler, which clearly created trust issues. As you said, Daniel hated him and Sam just had to find out first hand why. All Daniel is going to see with Miguel is Cobra Kai. He won't want to hear Miguel's side. She could've handled that moment on Facetime better, but again - she's like 16. She said the first thing that came to mind. All of these characters are flawed in believable ways and that's what makes this series so good. NO ONE SPOIL ANYTHING FOR THESE TWO. It's kind of amazing they've managed not to get spoiled for CK by osmosis of being online. π€£. That said, so excited for you guys to see the next two episodes.

Even in the reaction to Johnny telling his side of the story to Miguel TBR was like calling him out left and right, even though that is actually Johnny's side of the story. I can totally understand Johnny's point of view but that doesn't excuse his actions no matter why he did it. He was jealous and insecure but that's pretty much the reason all bullies do what they do.

2022-03-07 18:54:18 +0000 UTCNo it doesn't. That video was made as joke and was not to be taken seriously. For f- sake, the narrator calls Mr Miyagi a "demon sorcerer". You would have to be a hardcore contrarian or real guillible or acting in real bad faith to watch The Karate Kid and conclude that Daniel was the bully and not the guy who ran him off the road down a steep hill because he was a jealous asshole that couldn't accept that his girlfriend dumped him.

When I realized that the end of 8 was the car thing I was like ohh that is the PERFECT way to end a group of episodes I can't wait to see their reaction. The flinching thing is real. We basically train it out by getting hit in the face, but usually it's with gloves and obviously you don't want anyone to get hurt so you hit the forehead or around the cheeks. You avoid the nose. When Robby says he feels like Jackie Chan in the forest, that's a call back to the Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. But yeah this show that's the thing there's never a moment where this show gets dull or boring. It's like perfect execution. Next week is the end of season 1 :)
