Anyone else catch that in the first scene with Riley's dad, when Riley was on the phone with his mom, that he is reading Stephen King's Revival? Nice nod to Stephen King and the source material.

In "The Haunting of Hill House", it was about the story.
In "The Haunting of Bly Manor", it was about the characters.
In "Midnight Mass", it is about the monologues.

They were an hour! I think at least this first episode is so monologue heavy that time passes more slowly, but we’ll see what the future holds!

That is hilarious! Her makeup was also intense. I love all the actors he continues to work with!

This show is very interesting. I went on and watched a few more episodes. Without spoiling anything obviously, is it just me or do episodes of this feel way longer? I consistently would look at the timeline thinking the it's over and I'm like yes!! It's only at the halfway point or before. Were Hill and Bly an hour long? The show is definitely not boring, so it's not that. It just feels like each episode is waay longer and has way more content than the previous shows. Very strange.

Oooh, I've been waiting for you to react to this. I LOVED this series and re-watching the first episode with you was super interesting. Having seen the entire run, I really enjoyed catching small details that I missed the first time around. I think that is part of the genius of Mike Flanagan, his shows are immensely re-watchable. There is a great mystery, but the best part for me was the wonderful characters, everybody was perfect in this show. I hated Bev Keane (the Church Karen) so much in Midnight Mass, that I didn't even recognize the actress as Steve's wife from Hill House until after I was done. She is a total chameleon.
