The Karate Kid Part II (1986) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

You guys seem to really love this series and how heartfelt it is. All I gotta say is if you love how wonderful this one is you really gotta watch part 3 so that you can get into Cobra Kai. I'll give you a little bit of a hint. I don't think the TV show would be called Cobra Kai if only one of the three movies were about Cobra Kai ;) Another thing is if you love seeing people come back. One of the big things about Cobra Kai is every time a new season comes out it's like "Which character are they going to bring back this season?" and you're gonna be very surprised at the ones that come back, and you're also gonna be surprised at which ones redeem themselves. With Cobra Kai there is no black and white "this person's bad" any character can redeem themselves. You kinda got a taste of that with Sato in this film. Get to it man. You guys are behind. I also highly recommend "The Next Karate Kid" with Mr. Miyagi and the reboot with Will Smith's son. It's kind of like a mirror of the first one but with Kung Fu (Wushu really) instead of Karate. So if you love Jet Li and similar type films you will love that. Those aren't necessary for Cobra Kai though. At least not yet :) You guys might wanna hurry up who knows if they bring back "The Next Karate Kid" or Will Smith's son into the mix for later seasons. I would do Part 3 and just binge Cobra Kai. You're gonna love it I promise you. You will cry at Cobra Kai Season 2 in a good way. In a good way. It isn't sad.

I agree that the tear-jerky scenes were really good like the reveal that Miyagi's love never married and the scene where Daniel talks to Miyagi about his own father dying. Tea scene was also really good. The music in the 2nd film is also my favorite. Once again, with a big finale from Bill Conti who did the same for the rocky franchise. I even love the pop song provided by the Peter Cetera song. Part three might be disappointing for you guys, but I still enjoy it and the TV series does a LOT of fan service so even if you don't see characters return in the film series, keep your eyes open and hopes up for Cobra Kai. And fyi, the crane kick WAS NOT an illegal kick in the first film. It's implied that only punches to the face are illegal as evidenced by Cobra Kai members themselves winning fights via head kick). Arguably, Johnny himself kicks Daniel's in the face, but the edit makes it slightly ambiguous.

I remember seeing this as a kid after liking the first Karate Kid. I was disappointed with this sequel and never bothered to watch part three until years later. I think it's all overrated, but still pretty good overall. Pat Morita made the movies something special, the rest of the actors not so much. Cobra Kai has been okay too, not great but better than most of the garbage out there these days.

So happy you're going to be doing cobra Kai now honestly you guys are in for so much fun it truly is perfect for your reactions I've seen a fair few reactions by other reactors and I already know yours will top the lot 🙂 karate kid 3 first though underrated by many but has good moments and you will still enjoy it I'm certain 👍

"Thank you Sato. Pleasure do business with you."

Scott Kerr

Sees poster of Sato chopping wood, asks Mr Myagi "Can you chop wood like that?!" Myagi replies "Don't know, never been attack by tree", LMAO, best line ever.

Aaron Barlow

LMAO 'demon magic' haha.

Aaron Barlow

People think they're being clever offering some subversive revelation, but it doesn't hold up.

This is a Mr Miyagi fan channel! Can't wait for Cobra Kai! -Sam

THIS! This must have been what everyone was referring to. We had an incredible amount of comments on our reaction to the first film. We haven't watched this video yet, but it would make way more sense if it was satire. -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Agreed!! I loved Daniel's mom in the first film. I would have been happy with cameo in the beginning. I think him going to Okinawa with Miyagi was enough for him to be taking his own path away from her, but that's just me selfishly wishing she was back haha -Sam\

TBR Schmitt

Daniel definitely wasn't completely innocent in the first film, but I definitely agree he's not the bully! We haven't seen anything past the second film, but Kreese does seem like a nightmare so far! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

The amount of comments we got on the first Karate Kid about Daniel being the bully was astounding! We were honestly pretty confused! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yay! Excited to watch Cobra Kai :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

A lot of comments on the first film seem to agree! I think I like the first better, but still really enjoyed this one! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Right?! That was a massive recap -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We are! It wasn't our intention when we watched Karate Kid, but we're invested now! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

You guys may have said this and I missed it, but please tell me we are getting a Cobra Kai react. I feel like you two are invested enough in the characters at this point where that's a no brainer, but wanted to make sure. They are quick episodes.

Shaun2342!

We’ll agree to disagree about Kreese. These days every character needs a backstory to explain away every villainous thing they do.

Mark M

I remember watching this movie in the theater in the 80s as a kid and thinking exactly what Sam thought. It is a core memory. I was like, are they playing the right movie? It took me a minute to realize they were doing a fairly significant recap.

Jason Dolan

I actually like this one slightly more than the first.

Armchair Wizard

This was my favorite movie for some time when I was 7 or 8, and “Glory of Love” by the great Peter Cetera is still one of my favorite songs. ❤️ I’m not a fan of number 3, but I’ll definitely watch a Cobra Kai reaction. My husband and I loved it.

Aimee

37 years on and Mr Miyagi is still teaching life lessons to generations 🙏 Absolutely loving this journey on one of my favourite movie franchises ever and we still have the man,the myth, the legend that is Terry Silver,to come You can already tell that they are both going to totally love Cobra Kai if they get on to it at some point 🐍 #Kumiko💖

Duncan

The video calls Miyagi helping Daniel's legs "demon magic" or some such. It's very much done as a joke.

ED209

Yeah I agree with Aaron. A Youtube video came out several years back titled "Daniel is the REAL bully" and I think its done very tongue in cheek, sort of re-writing history. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_Gz_iTuRMM&ab_channel=J.MatthewTurner I haven't watched the 3rd film in a long time so I am excited to keep going on this journey with you.

Mark M

I would disagree with you there as well. Kreese is a product of his environment and kind of a movie version of real people that exist in the United States and other countries that don't take care of their veterans the way they should. Kreese is also very respectful towards women, and for the most part does look for his students. His methods are just more aggressive than others in some situations. He is the villain because every story needs one and writers are painting a picture, but in the real world, I would rather have a Kreese on my side than a Daniel.

Erich Bomke

This was a great sequel. A pity Dan's mum wasn't in it Randee Heller was one of the highlights of the first film, but she would have to go to Okinawa to be anything other than a cameo at the beginning and the dynamic would completely change in Okinawa and it wouldn't really work, especially as the sequel should represent growth and still being with mummy would contradict that lol.

Aaron Barlow

I wouldn't say Daniel is the bad guy, but he has some character defects. Cobra Kai is really good at being a more realistic, three-dimensional look at both Daniel and Johnny. Both are flawed, but neither is a villain. Kreese is always a nightmare.

Jen Barnes

Daniel was obviously NOT the bad guy in the first movie, those subversive interpretations are usually a joke. John Kreese was the bad guy. Johnny was also the bad guy as he was a bully and the chief antagonist throughout most of the movie. Cobra Kai is a great redemption for Johnny's character though. Well worth reacting to guys.
