They were all also just on Criterion Channel. I voted Strangers On A Train because it doesn’t get much play. Considering that Vertigo had been voted best film for a while had me wondering if Rear Window won because it’s been on the YouTube reaction radar. My biggest problem with Hitchcock’s films is that I know about the Hays Code, has absolutely ruined several of his films for me, (though I still find them fantastic,) because I know how they had to end. Rope is a good example, and yet despite that I was still on the edge of my seat. It even reveals its greatness by setting the film almost entirely in one room.

Damiana_Dimock

These are all great movies. Next time insert also "Dial M for murder"

Abbraccia

I’m implying that your word choice is bizarre. It is.

Catherine LW

Is that necessary? Implying that I'm too shallow or inattentive to grasp the tone of a film, I mean, not rewatching Hitchcock. I remember the drunk driving scene in North by Northwest just fine.

Brad Bunch

Really, this is the primary problem with all Patreon poll systems: greatness becomes secondary to popularity. Obviously, that's not to say that Psycho or any other extremely popular movie is bad, just that the number of people who have seen a movie is the real winning factor, not how good the movie is.

Tyler Foster

Silly? I think you need to rewatch them.

Catherine LW

I agree, Tyler. Everyone voted for Psycho and the Birds all the time without ever watching Hitch’s other works, which are better than his horror movies.

Catherine LW

Oh, and The Lady Vanishes! You have to do The Lady Vanishes. Ok, I'll shut up now.

Neal Romanek

A really fun one that no one reacts to is The Trouble With Harry - kind of a light romantic movie about a corpse.

Neal Romanek

I love the birds - great horror movie (it's influenced so many things after - from Jaws to The Mist to zombie movies) - and also has all that crazy Hitchcock deep symbolism on so many levels.

Neal Romanek

Vertigo is incredible but it's kind of the David Lynch film of Hitchcock. If you don't already have some Hitchcock under your belt, you can kind of miss it, I think. Best to leave it for later, even though it's clearly one of the greatest of movies.

Neal Romanek

Sooo exciting. You should start with North By Northwest. But they're all great. Strangers On A Train is dynamite. Shadow Of A Doubt is one of my favorites too.

Neal Romanek

Really wish most of these were doing better than The Birds. Vertigo and Notorious are masterpieces, Strangers on a Train is great, and North by Northwest is very good. The Birds ranks near the bottom of the Hitchcock films I've seen, although I suppose someone doing a reaction would be a reason to give it a second chance.

Tyler Foster

The Birds for me.

Anakin Starkiller

Vertigo is beautiful. Gorgeous, and brilliant. But it's like asking people to watch a David Lynch movie (well, except the lawnmower movie). Films like Rear Window and North by Northwest are easy to watch. They're amazing, for sure, but kinda silly and light, like most Hitchcock.

Brad Bunch

Vertigo doesn’t give a neat, bow tied ending, which is why many people don’t care for it as much as other Hitchcock films. I appreciate it, but find it less watchable than Rear Window or Notorious.

Catherine LW

Don’t hate me for this but I felt Vertigo dragged in the third act and then the reveal near the end was so sudden it was almost laughable.

I love Rear Window as much as the next guy.. but why it is SO much more popular than Vertigo is really astounding. To me, Vertigo is easily the superior film. And why Vertigo is 4th in the poll currently is even more headscratching. Hope you get to it soon, though.

Shehab Dawoud

Yeah she's really making the rounds with the film noirs and screwball comedies. Wished other reactors would cover those bases more, but y'know...less YouTube hits

Bert Taverner

All of these are top notch! Voting notorious because it’s romantic/sexy as well. And a dream cast!

Michael Soukup

I agree with our group, each one is good in its own right. If youre new to Hitchcock, Rear Window is a great introduction. Second choice; The Birds. Third: Strangers on a Train

ron clint

Sam and TBR should react to all of these. You can’t go wrong with Hitchcock!

Catherine LW

I really don't mind which one of these movies wins the poll. They are all fantastic!

Scott Kerr

Looks like Rear Window's going to get the nod and that's lovely (its the movie that got me to realize that old movies were worth watching), but real heads know that it should go to Vertigo

Bert Taverner

All great choices! Next Hitchock poll I would suggest, "Dial M For Murder" (1954) Ray Milland and Grace Kelly, and "To Catch A Thief" (1955) Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.

Miles E Coburn

The Birds is one that my mom has raved about for a long, long time. It would make her day if it won. lol, she may even begin watching these reactions. hahaha

Logan Kerlee

Excellent poll! I voted "Strangers On A Train", but I actually would vote for "Rear Window", THEN "Strangers On A Train", ha! But all of them are worth watching, although "Vertigo" and "The Birds" would be way down on my list.

Tic Toc Melody

Great Hitchcock movie, and his own personal favorite. Just so you know Mia Tiffany just did a reaction to it about a month ago, go check it out.

Tic Toc Melody

To the Hitchcock list, I'd like to suggest adding "The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)" starring James Stewart and Doris Day.

Ron

It would be a shame to skip any of the movies on this list... or any of the polls so far. "Which one will it be?" "ALL." -- The Terminator (1984)

Mr. Writhms

I voted Notorious because it’s brilliant but underrated. Espionage and an anguished romance. Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman sizzle. Because of the Hayes Code, kisses couldn’t last more than 3 seconds with no tongue or lip movement. So Hitch got around it by having Grant and Bergman kiss for 3 seconds, whisper, nuzzle, kiss, murmur, stroke, kiss, etc. Turned out to be one of the most erotic scenes ever made during the Hayes Code period.

Catherine LW

Shadow of a Doubt!!! It's so good and so many Hitchcock lovers don't know about it. Fun fact the house in Shadow of doubt was one of the houses used in Scream. But that being said Rear Window.

Meg Perry

Basically can't go wrong with any. Voted Notorious because it hadn't gotten any yet. Otherwise, Rear Window
