Ghostbusters II (1989) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

So... I respect your opinion, completely. But I can assure you it wasn't purely sexism that caused that movie to fail. I was *massively* excited for that movie, more so than anyone else I knew. I thought a female cast was a great twist! And the actors they picked are some of my favorite comedic actors of the current day. So yeah, I was definitely enthusiastic. And then I saw the movie and I was so disappointed, not for any dudebro reasons (my childhood is fully intact), but because it wasn't funny, and it was stupid. A laugh here and there, maybe, but overall it was a disaster. If they'd given this cast a script, it could have been great. Expecting them to basically improv the entire movie was a major misstep. You need a certain kind of actor in a certain kind of movie if you're going to do that (e.g., any of the Christopher Guest films, none of which has the high energy of a Ghostbusters movie, all of which are cast with actors of an improvisational background). Again, I absolutely respect your opinion and I'm genuinely glad you enjoyed it. A lot of people didn't, and most of them, like myself, are not sexist dudebros. (But yeah, a few were. And they were loud about it.)

I highly recommend the 2016 'female' reboot. Ignore the dudebros and the 'this movie ruined my childhood' bs. Like Black Widow, Dark Phoenix and pretty much every other female-led movie, it got taken down purely by sexism imo

Skip the 2016 SNL skit and just watch afterlife, which is in the same continuity as the original movies.

And I'm someone who really loves the 2016 reboot, so there you are.

Oh that is so cool! I didn't know that. I think you're asking about the 2016 reboot and we do not have this on our schedule yet, but I see there are some requests so we will see! -Sam

Oh woah I hadn't thought of that! -Sam

Just to provide some balance here, I would recommend y'all do the 2016 version :) Some things work, some things don't, but overall it's incredibly watchable.

Yay at you guys watching this one! I remember being super excited to see this in cinemas when it came out (I was like 8). But no, don’t do the reboot. πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ It’s sad because I literally LOVE the main actresses and actor in it, but it never should have been made. There’s a reason it bombed. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

I say go ahead and watch the 2016 reboot (on your own time). Haha... I'm kidding. You should react to it (but I won't watch). 😊 Actually, I would watch any of your reactions. They are just fun to watch. πŸ‘

Mr. Writhms

Are you guys going to watch the reboot? I'd be curious to see your take on it.

Shaun2342!

Fun trivia: The kid at the birthday party that tells the Ghostbusters they are full of crap is Jason Reitman, the director's son. He went on to direct movies like Juno, Young Adult, and Up in the Air and is directing Ghostbusters Afterlife.

"Everything you are doing is bad. I want you to know this." One of my favourite movie quotes. I try to use it in my everyday life whenever I can ;)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

I always thought it would have been crazy if they had made Louis the father of Dana's baby since they DID have sex on the roof before they became dogs. And instead of setting this movie 5 years later it could have just been the next year, OR instead of a baby, it's a 5 year old. At any rate, this movie is STILL a lot of fun.

I hope you enjoy it, Hugo! We had a great time :) -Sam

Can't lie, not a huge fan of the second one, but I do need to re-watch it, cause its just lost in memory now. Lets see what they do with the franchise in the upcoming years.
