Haha thank you! Still don't know where that noise came from! Wang was fantastic and Jack was a fun sidekick! That's too funny! -Sam

I can't even imagine trying to get a truck through San Francisco! I didn't even like driving my car through there! Glad you enjoyed it :) -Sam

So true! I love that Jack is the goofy sidekick who only THINKS he's the hero. "Everybody relax, I’m here" and "if we’re not back by dawn… call the president" are my favorite lines.

YUP! It's not super subtle at all or anything but many people dont get that Wang is the actual protagonist. So I'm always happy to read comments like yours!

Sam's jump scare noise at 10:10 was both hilarious and adorable. hahaha. This is unironically one of my all time fave films. As an Asian, it was cool to see Wang as the actual protagonist instead of a sidekick and is the competent one versus Jack. And that's not to sell Jack short because he's awesome. But even regardless of all that, this film is amazing and I'm so glad people are enjoying it these days. As an aside, a Filipino buddy of mine in high school always had manicured long nails but also sagged his pants like we did back then. We nicknamed him Lo Pants, based on the character from this film. So stupid but thinking about it still makes me chuckle.

So glad you guys found this one. It really is in a class of its own. It's corny af with Kurt Russel doing some kind of mini-John Wayne and Kim Cattrall doing her best 1930s journalist impression. A couple familiar faces: Lo Pan was played by the same guy who "just does eyes" in Blade Runner, that geneticist in the freezing lab; the head martial arts fighter in the alley in the beginning is a stunt guy who's in a lot of stuff - he was the terrorist in Die Hard who had the moment where he sneaks a candy bar out of the display case. Seems like it's basically John Carpenter's tribute to Chinese ghost stories and Hong Kong action films, and there really aren't any others like it that I know about.

Sam's jump scare was hilarious, sorry Sam but that was amazing lol...great reaction guys more John Carpenter please

Jack Burton, the best sidekick to Wang! Love the twists on the genres this movie does!

I must have read the same thing, because I have thought that for a long while. It's something about Kurt Russell's performances in these John Carpenter movies, but in Escape From New York he plays Clint Eastwood, and in this movie he plays John Wayne. Good luck trying to find another movie like this one, it's one of a kind. I was lucky to see this in theaters when it first came out, and I saw it in a theater two years ago, and it was just as much fun as the first time. Great reaction, guys.

The look on Sam's face after the last jump scare :D Goofy in the best sense movie :)

The three storms were my favorite characters in this movie.

Faron Henderson

I read somewhere that Kurt Russell was doing a John Wayne impersonation while performing the Jack Burton role. That makes his character all the more funny to me. This one and They Live are the funniest Carpenter films for me. However, while They Live is a social commentary at heart, Big Trouble is just goofy and fun.

Fun fact, Kurt Russell is actually driving the truck in most of the scenes, and it's a Freightliner Classic (I drove one once for a few weeks, it was a sweet ride, Millennium Falcon style lol).

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

This is my favorite trucker movie ever lol, even more than Smokey and the Bandit. I drove over the road for about 5 years, it was an adventure, not quite this interesting. And yeah I did deliver to San Francisco, and no it wasn't easy haha. So glad you guys finally watched this, one of my favorites from the 80s! Oh yeah, and that's a famous saying among gear jammers, "never drive faster than you can see", and it's good advice in life too.
